I'd have made the new players the head of unit and given it to them, but they'd made a new unit ( with no money) before I ran across 'em - still, we'll get everyone in contact, and with luck, set some training nights for those horses one can lead to water -- we 'll see.

Sounds like you are, indeed, an artist - new player and solid tier 4!

Anyhow - Best thing is to hop into the teamspeak: http://ts3server://5...ivMmpIaGawZY%3D ( you have to have TS on for that to work )

I'll remind Ralphy to check this, he's been playing and training, but isn't used to checking this.
As to which nights, he's just gotten it re-started, so things are still" informal" - getting established.
We've been doing some scout drops for brawl training ( and moving in formation and roles ), and some Invasion drops as well - but the details are still getting hammered out on training nights, his drop deck compositions for people who don't have 60+ mechs, all that good stuff.
Still working out the re-new kinks, but coming along nicely. Drop in, and remind Ralphy to talk to our allies and get the training nights re-established. Until then, good hunting!

Badger Browncoat suggested that I meet up with some allied training units. Could somebody in game PM me when there are training nights? I haven't been able to catch any. Fours years in and I'm still tier 5 and have only gotten as far as 25 % towards a higher tier. Guess I need to hang out in the Comstar TS channel a bit more.

group up with these guys. seriously. I dropped with and against them, in scouting, quite a few times and these games are always good fun - and good in general. if you're willing, you'll learn a lot of good stuff dropping with them as well as having decent human beings around you and lots of fun.

This is a great service to new players who will be intimidated by this game's depth and learning curve. I hope you guys succeed beyond your own wildest imagination.

I was fortunate enough to be picked up really early by a unit, but those few days when I was trying to learn the ropes were really overwhelming, and I would have loved it if there were people like you around to help.

Couple of questions for ya. Any "normal" days/times that the unit is on? Training methodology: drop and do as I do or something slightly more organized when enough people are on? Haven't been able to connect up with y'all except for that faction drop(which was sub optimal for me) last week or so. Is there a Reserves unit page on the web with forums?

We had the same concern, and several "allied merc units" agreed to create a "common/ neutral ground" that was no specific unit or faction's discord for just that purpose ( with links to their individual discords ; and " Public Dropships. I don't want to get into the relative merits of TS vs Discord, - " when in Rome, do as the Romans".

As the Commander said, the link he gave was a temporary hosting place for the ReSeRveS training unit, loaned by one of the ' coalition of merc units' - after discussion, it was decided the training regiment, being not aligned and for the benefit of all the units, would use the " Outreach" common-grounds discord server, above https://discord.gg/Ft65mPd( thanks to Me_tarzan and his chaps ( ex RSRV graduate ) for their hosting in the meantime ).
The RSRV will get some space there, room for the ' new player area' you helped establish on other servers, and we'll have them make a discord 'role' for people there to train or assist them. Them being at the 'neutral ground' hub is hoped to have the same effect as moving through the various house TS's of old, to meet under no pressure different units and personalities, see where they fit in and get invited to. And as Cmdr Ralphy said,

they are re-organizing after losing their home - afte rthe last batch of graduates, it wa sthe various merc captain s ( unit leaders ) who asked Ralphy to do another run of ' boot camp', thus the for-playing-with-new-players-not-his-unit alt that may not immediately see responses on the forums.
