So, just as the Steam release brought an influx of new players, I think we can expect the skill tree patch, and especially the 3060 Era patch, to bring new, and particularly, returned players!
We all know how much 'fun' it is to come back rusty after a break - even when 1/2 the game hasn't changed.
The changes will make the learning curve perhaps worse? for new players, and will be a bit to digest for "re-new" players, too - hopefully it will be a richer game but at the expense/benefit of added complexity.
While I myself put the ReSeRVes unit into other hands so Double0ught and myself could take a mwo break and play XCOM2, upon my return to MWO, I found the unit leaders had left and given up on training - we all need breaks.
So - in short - I'm looking for those interested joining ( usually with an old alt ) as a trainer; and for someone interested in taking over the old training unit, it comes with a considerable unit coffer - and a roster you may choose to purge of inactives - apparently quite a few of the trainess didn't 'graduate' boot camp and were enjoying playing with the unit - that's good, and bad.
I created an alt, as my main account has been tied up in the Harii scout unit.
Would anyone beinterested in taking the unit, perhaps under an alt if you're currently in a unit?
Contact me - let the mantle pass.

Well, frankly, that would be great.
The " Harii" scout unit fell apart when I said I was likely goin' to Syria to help the Kurds... in the meantime, pugging, I met some new (and re-new) players and more or less, most meet on the Comstar TS in the " browncoats & allies" section - a loose group of small merc units.
Doing so, the 'central' unit- less nooby every day - have actually asked about " non on the job" training and such - and I realized, might be time to - one - set up training nights like we used to - and two - reform the ReSeRVes training unit, although I feel like i put in my time, it's still a great idea and i do expect new folks/ old players that have been on break and want to see how the changes impact the game.
So i put an alt in as placeholder - expect an invite and, while you may not have the time for being THE leader, you were always a great trainer, you would be a HUGE asset.

At any rate, things have changed. On top of that, we got at least as much response from clanners - there's no longer an 'epsilon galaxy' to be our counterpart - so, my thought is to put this on the old, classic comstar server ( 51.172.1.90 , no password ), there s a boot camp section there - and perhaps ask for a sub-channel for the people doing just this; just as they gave us a Tukkyid event channel.
So , anyone interested, keep an eye on that, and - still looking for someone who wants to take the reins, and though some have expressed an interest in helping, there's always a call for more people willing to "pay it forward" a bit,a s they say.
To be clear, I made an alt to keep that unit open to invites for formal trainers or a new unit leader, thus:

Delores, at tier 1, you're probably more a train-er than a train-ee. You should hop in and share what you've learned so far. Even so, thinsg change as you tier up - for example, ecm is no longer harry potter's cloak of invisibility after tier 4/5
I'm sure what you're experiencing is simply a less extreme/obvious example of the same thing - old approaches quit working against higher-tier players, who have already adapted. I'm sure some of the people who\ve told me they are interested in helping, would be glad to private lobby it over, and discuss, compare notes.

Well, Deltree - I'm not going to be dragging companies of new players through the IS anymore - for the reasons above - and the possibility of leaving the game ( RL stuff )- but I think now a central meeting spot- easiest to get the new players to - and more experienced players/trainers hop in, is a way to do it now.
I'm sure the skill tree and, soon, the civil war era update, will bring quite a few people back ( did, me - even if got the date wrong ) - and to a degree, we'll all be re-noobs then, anyway. I feel like the game's meta needed a shake-up, but opinions aside -
good place to re-iterate, I would be very happy if someone else wants to take the mantle, and continue the old training 'boot camp', and yes, as asked, even clanners can pull recruits they train out of the " boot camp" - the idea was to help new players, not factionalize - just, back then, I had a place to send new players I met that wanted to roll clans ( and I think IS is easier on new players, anyway - cheaper, and most clan advantages are only advantages in experienced hands, in my opinion )
Anyway : I'll try to facilitate, but I don't have the time to run it anymore, but I think it's about to be a very handy thing again.

Thanks for organizing this and please send me an invite when you can.
Newbie Question; When you named the server what kind of server is it? TeamSpeak? game server? I wasn't aware of private game servers or how to access them. Thanks! - D.

You going to be playing tomorrow around the time you posted, Delores? We could drop together for a bit if you like. Group queue's likely to pit you with some bigger fish but that's nothing a bit of teamwork can't handle.

Thanks Koniving. That would be great to get some training time with the you. I'm not usually in game during weekdays, even if I sometimes post to the forums during that time. My usual game time is weeknights between 9pm and 11 pm, US EST. Feel free to send me a group invite or Friend request anytime, and I'll do the same. Thanks!

and the basic tactics- the minimum level of team-work to survive in a team-based game: http://mwomercs.com/...ics-101-comics/
With the event over, and the 16th patch coming up, those interested are getting our feet back under us again - so there will be a bit of flux - but in turn, a lot of reason to compare notes and talk with people who did the public test server and have a head-start on whats new in the game.

D.A. , I should have caught that and didn't - my apologies. IF not Konivig - or the guys taking over my old spot as trainers, people like Heimdal often hang out i the new player training channel on comstar - so you should find people more than willing to give you tips - it's how i got into the game, myself.
Again, it IS a team-based game, so unless you're going to stay in the solo que - and even then... - remember:

Thanks for all the advice- I have studied both of those Documents and they are extremely helpful. The author should publish the tactics 101 comics in a hardcopy flip board to use next to the computer when playing .. I would pay good money for that and PGI should sell it!

teamspeak 3 is a free Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol used by many players of multi-player games, it's advantage over in-game VOIP is that you can plan and work out roles, composition, strategies, etc , before/ betweenmatches. I highly recommend using it, or discord, or what have you - me, I have no preferences to which myself - I just do a sthe romans when in rome - and most people I played with in open beta, used teamspeak 3. I'll friend you in game, and have the new unit leader do so as well - but overall, I think gathering in teamspeak is easiest. See you soon!

Oh on West Coast time here. So probably evenings or weekends.
Hi, Re- Red N Raw - you're exactly the kind of "renoob" ( returned player ) - I was expecting - I took a year or 2 break after beta myself, - needed a better computer - and came back when, against all expectations, they got CW working.
The game has changed immensely - and is changing as we speak - ( an opinion: aside - when we played in Beta - alot of ... decisions were by the IGP "suits" - I think the game has improved immensely since they are no longer involved ) anyway - good time to come back, between today's patch, and the coming Era change, we're all going to be a bit " new" - as it's a new game.
Look forward to meeting you !

Because of faction requirements for me to assume this role, I must wait one week. Had to drop the dragons so I could be FRR. Somewhat sadface, but I gives me that week to get more comfortable with the changes in the skill tree rolling out today. So yeah, this rebirth if the reserves will happen in a week.
See ya out there!

AH! Hail to the New Chief!
Anyhow - The ReSeRVes are a merc unit, contracted to at this time, but not loyalists of, The Free RassalHague Republic.
- had to, for old times' sake, for the Battle of TurkeyFeud.
in general, though - and this bit's important - just as we wouldn't put new players in loyalist units in the old daze, so they could mech bay tour, the changes in FW and loyalist vs merc contracts means, as I read the system, it's easier - at first - to be a merc, and the curve of the rep points encourages you to choose a faction - which fits well with the new player 'reserves' being a boot camp for people to choose or be recruited by a unit ( be that one merc or loyalist is their concern) - but i definitely suggest new players take the MERCenary career path at first, as it's fairly generous for the easy to get early reputation levels.
As far as Lieutenant Merciedies is concerned, your tha' new boss, Nicodem, tags and formalities aside.
