It could be the bugs talking.

Then again... imagine what MWO reviews are, if you think those are bad.

Nope. But then again I am familiar with day 0 bugs from Bethesda and have come to expect them.

Holy ****. The settlement building mechanic and powered armor and modding weapons, armor and gear are fap worthy.

As soon as the G.E.C.K is out I'm going to reskin my powered armor to look like a Marauder.

I've sunk around 12 hours into the game, here are some of my thoughts.

1) Graphics: Yes they could be better, but honestly, the game runs at 60fps with a GTX 670 and most of the settings on high or max. And most of the texture work is passable. But I guess the complainers really want to beable to pick out every little detail in their junk piles, so your milage may vary.

2)Sound: Sound Effects are great, and overall sound design feels suitably Fallout, Music tracks are a little... stale, but it's still a pleasure to listen to The Ink Spots while slaughtering raiders.

3)Controls: Another "milage may vary" topic. I utilize a control pad, a 360 pad, and have had 0 issues. I have had reports from friends however that have had problems with the game not wanting to recognize Mouse/Keyboard controls. If this happens, plug in a gamepad, and disable gamepad controls from the options menu. This will free up your keyboard/mouse. I've also heard the menu's are terrible under mouse control.
In reference to the control issues, keep in mind, the literal majority of players of FO4, are using a gamepad, and the game is optimized with this controller in mind.

4)bugs: It's a day 1 bethesdia game, so bugs are to be expected. in 12 hours I've had aproximately 2 crashes, and one issue starting the game. outside of that the game has run fine, and I've only had a few wonky moments. I have encountered a bug regarding using a crafting station, then walking away and having your controls go a bit wonky, but easily fixed by switching viewmodes.

5)Storyline: So far the story has kept me fairly interested. It's not super deep mind you, and I've already had the ending ruined for me [thanks internet.] but regardless of that, the characters feel far more fleshed out than they were in New Vegas, and even FO3.

Overall I'd rate the game an 7/10 above average, must own if you love Fallout, or if you love Post Apoc content. There are bugs, but that's to be expected from Bethesdia. Also the graphics issues people have will be fixed with the release of the GECK modding tools [as well as all your naked anime girl goodness many of you are waiting on.]

to clarify my rating system. 1 is terrible, 5 is average, 10 is AMAZINGBALLZ OMG MUST OWN FTW AWESOMENESS!. A 7 Plants Fallout 4 firmly in the above average catagory, it's a fun, good game. And a wonderful escape to the wasteland's once again.

There will always be decryers... and there will always be people that take offense to this game for whatever reason. That being said, it's not perfect, but it's the best fallout we've had since 3.

What what I have seen on the Tube, I think I'll have more fun out of replaying Dead Space (which I am doing), than playing Fallout 4. I never liked getting sidetracked too much, and grabbing all the achievements etc...

This is the type of game I would wait until it's on sale for at least 33-50% off--and by then most of the bugs are taken care off, and good mods will be available.

My Rating for F4: 2/10 because as a Fallout it sucks hard.
As a Shooter with Adventure elements (and without the Name Fallout) is the Rating 6/10.

Game companies keep screwing up by doing this over and over.

They rush a product out so fast, that its either so full of bugs that its near unplayable, or its seriously lacking content.

FO4 feels like a typical cash grab, more than it was an attempt to actually make a good game.

Its really sad.

So far i think it's good. Typical Bethesda release though so many bugs, glitches, and broken stuff. I've been playing their games since Morrowind came out and it's always the same.

I've been playing with Ableton Live's 9.5 updates and learning how to use my new Push controller.

Kind of surprised this goof post took off to 7 pages lol.

Except I remember Morrowind being pretty damn awesome right out of the box.

The internet has made many companies sloppy. They know they can release a game "on schedule" and just patch it later.

Some of those reviews didn't seem that bad. Others sound like they were never going to be impressed with the game in the first place but for some reason got the game anyway.

I do keep seeing a lot of people not terribly happy with the way they scrapped the skill system, and I'm inclined to agree. It wasn't broken, so there wasn't much of a need to change it. I wasn't too thrilled when they did pretty much the same thing with Skyrim. But I still managed to enjoy that game.

I do wish game companies would move away from this recent fad where they feel like they have to dumb their games down. Or as I'm sure they like to call it, streamlining. It wasn't all that complicated to begin with.

Anyway I don't own it yet, but I've seen the trailers and demos and videos of game play and I think I have a fair idea of what I'll be getting when I do get around to it.

I hear it's lost the RPG element and skill trees. So basically a FPS now. Lame.

Morrowind was awesome that's why. Bethesda's best game to date. It was still buggy as hell though, and the combat was crap. At the time though, the scope of the game, the world, atmosphere, lack of hand holding etc made it shine.

I assume it is mediocre as they say. It's not just bugs or graphical performance that are problems. Things that often are cited as bad, completely lacking, or regressed from their (as in Bethesda) previous games in this iteration: predictive/not-that-great-story, cheesy dialog, lack of meaningful choice/consequences, reports of a large number of kill/fetch quests (less ways to complete them, such as pacifist route), boring companions, imbalanced skill system, etc. All of these things can not be fixed while the bugs can.

Its scored lower than any FO game to date by users, even the original tactical games. I've watched a few streams/LP's. and those points are true.

Basically it looks like an average FPS to waste some time in, with some 'fun' aspects to that particular aspect, but has unfortunately regressed or not improved at all on core RPG/narrative elements. It seems a bit over-hyped. To me it seems like a decent 5-10 dollar game to futz around in within a year or 2; since I play some 'average' games, but definitely not something I would pay full money for. Basically if average is fun for people, then they get enjoyment out of it. Others need more meat to their RPGs.

The spoilt children reviewing things for 0 of 10 for being "Boring"?!? I am already only 8 or so total hours in and have had at least 1 OMG moment an hour. I'm loving it.

They claim the story is non-existant, but I haven't seen that. There are at least 4 quests going on all the time for me, and they aren't 'fetcher' quests for the most part.

You can physical change your game world. Again. You can physically change your game world.

There is 'No Level Cap' and you can earn 275 ability increases for your character WITHOUT considering the Bobblehead dolls, the Books you can pick up and so on.

It's OPEN for you to do as you wish.

*sigh* Bad stupid gamers. And the gripes about the graphics are coming from people with less than stellar machines I am sure.

I wouldn't go quite that far. There are still attributes which you can distribute any way you like, and perks now do everything the skills used to. No, I'm not entirely thrilled they went that route. It's supposed to be a Fallout game after all.

But on the other hand, from what I've heard they really fleshed out the crafting system. They took the FNV weapon mod system, which is one thing FNV added I really liked, and expanded on it. Assuming that feature didn't get scrapped. They made all the random junk laying around useful. And you can build structures, although in a sort of magic instabuild sort of way, it allows you to have more of an impact on your Fallout sandbox world.

I don't agree with some of their design decisions but I think what they did do will be interesting enough to give it a shot, and I know they will fix most of the bugs, even though I'm sure it's got a veritable horde of them right out of the gate.

I hear powered armor forces you to use fast travel... That's a big no no in my book.

Rule #1: Thou shalt not fast travel unless it is via paid caravan or taxi.

I'm not sure how someone is a "bad stupid gamer" for giving negative reviews that point out obvious regressed or declined aspects that someone expects an RPG to have in 2015. That's seems like an MWO-style excuse to me that someone is just "bad" for not liking MWO for being a mediocre grind, for example. Are you sure you're not riding that Hype-Wave? It's a bad RPG, but an 'Ok' Shooter. *Shrug* It's ok if it's average

These reviews are pretty fair I think pointing out the issues:
