MWO and Mixed Arms - Tanks, Hovercraft, VTOL's, and Aerospace

I look forward to all my enemies piloting vehicles.
PS. Vehicles suck in Battletech. You know why people are angry about legging in MW game? Well, playing a vehicle is like being legged ALL THE TIME. Destruction of one section of your vehicle is total destruction. Any one hit will likely result in a crit, which will likely severely disable the vehicle.
MW:LL might as well be MW4. It's just some people who took the assets and made a different game. Vehicles are supposed to suck. If they didn't, nobody would ever build a mech. BV for BV, they should be worse than any mech that comes close to it point wise.

Pretty much agree with all of this.

If you die then, well, you had it coming.

So I am for the idea, but not for players to use, maybe NPC pet, or NPC support, through an ability that you the warrior has.

Summoning them for some money or depending on the Map or type of fight would be nice.
e.g.
on a relatively open map you can invest into a squad of condors providing fire support, or something like that. (on a crowded map KI may have a hard time).
Or on a Capture the Base map you could invest into some defensive Tanks (bulldog, Hetzer, demolisher for example) which stay close to the base and guard it, so they give you additional defense and buy you time (must be destroyed before base can be captured)
Another thing could be LRM tanks, which can throw down indirect fire (a light mech spots for them).
it could also be used as balancing item, if there is some hidden or open player skill calculation and one team clearly outskills (and maybe outweights) a side, there could be a few npc tanks assigned to the underdog...

Hungry enough to want it, patient enough to wait for them to get it right.

Mechwarrior:Online
not
Battletech Combined Arms: Online
This may be so, but the game I'd like to play even more than Mechwarrior Online is Battletech Online. Where your team, guild, crew, or whatever you want to call it, have the options to use combined arms tactics, such as artillery strikes, air support, near orbit engagements, deep orbit engagements. Then looking to the bigger picture of an overall stategic back and forth of system and regional conflict. Is the technology viable to make this vision happen yet? Probably not, but I can dream can't I?

My opinion is that they really don't add much to the game. I though MW:LL was a pretty fun game and all but I absolutely loathed all the other vehicles and crap they put in that game that were just silly. I constantly though while playing LL that the game would be awesome if it was just 'mech combat, but the VTOLs, Aerospace Fighters/Bombers, Tanks, and Elementals were just cumbersome and not particularly fun addition to the game.

BUT, I think they should only be for larger engagements. Meaning somewhere down the line (based on the success of this game, and even then we are likely talking two years at least) have a full on Total War map(s) for large groups. ie. 32 vs 32, in which only a portion of the group (let's say 8) are piloting Mechs, and the others are part of the Mixed forces group.
Heck, I'd even love to be an Infantry soldier with a flamer. lol

This is one of the things that never made sense in World of Tanks. Your team loses if the enemy team runs all the way across the map and sits in the circle that has nothing around it (and nothing to defend it) for about 90 seconds.

Just remember that in MWO, if done correctly, you will have a way to defend yourself. Either through your own mech's weapons, or the weapons and equipment of your lance / teammates, and particularly through good teamwork. And, again, I don't want to see pilots in Aerotech raining death upon us mechwarriors. I just occasionally want to see one zip through the sky or whatnot.
I just want to see the Battletech universe in action. I want to see dropships landing or dropping mechs, I want to see tanks and hovercraft and hell, even those annoying SRM infantry squads. And then I want to step on them.

Like I said some of the Aerospace threads. If you're going to implement them, use them via Command Mech modules. So, at the beginning of the fight, certain mech builds (or per XP gains) get X points of command resources. They can assign them to things (like Off-map artillery, or Aerospace bombing, or Aerospace supression, etc). During the battle they can pop them up and deploy them.
As for getting inside the vehicle and driving them, I just think it's a terrible idea, not to mention a lot of work that could be better spent on other stuff.
