An extremely bland mish mash of weapons in the game, totally incomplete ny ANY mechwarrior games standards. No laser reflective armor, drop ships play only a trivial part in the game, really they are nothing but a neat cosmetic afterthought. An absolutely crap community of whiny players who want everything nerfed and every good idea shot down before it starts. NOTHING about the finer points of the game(CW) are explained to new players. A game style that makes this feel more like CoD with robots than an actual mech title. Assault mechs have fewer hard points for weapons than the lighter classes???????? No Solaris Arena in an online only mech game? How incredibly stupid is this? For a micro transaction game to NOT have the Solaris Arena is just stupid. Think of all the potential they are throwing away. Even the free MWLL had that and also all of the missing weapons that should be in this game but are not.
I just tried to buy MC a while ago and it doesnt look like the transaction went thru. I am kind of glad at this point. This game looks like its only going to be forever sitting on its thumbs fixing Alpha Strikes that arnt actually broken while catering to the worst element of the game and the lowest common denominator cry baby players.

MWOL has been my main game since I installed it. Its been fun, a lot of fun, but now it just feels like a useless grind where even if you spend money its not really a MW game. I dont see any of the potential in this title even being a distant goal for PGI, they just dont give a sht.

This would be a perfect example of an e-z mode casual scrub. The type of filth in an online community that some developers are dumb enough to listen to. Thus part of the reason this game is so handicapped

The only weapons, that are missing by the 3050 timeline set by PGI, are Arrow-IV and Long Tom Artillery Cannon, which are harder to implement due to underlying work required.

No laser reflective armor
Reflective Armor is a technology only available starting from 3058.

Quote

drop ships play only a trivial part in the game, really they are nothing but a neat cosmetic afterthought.
Dropships sometimes can do better job protecting spawns in CW, than the players themselves. Besides, nothing in mechwarrior suggests, that Dropships has to perform something aside from their actual duty of bringing mechwarriors to the battlefield.

You're a fine representative of that same community, with non-argumented complains, broad generalization and lack of common sense. I'm not sure what you're expecting given these circumstances.

Quote

NOTHING about the finer points of the game(CW) are explained to new players.
What's there to explain? Unless we're talking about conscipated buffoons, that are unable to figure out anything without assistance, there's little to describe. It is fair to expect CW-related MWA training sessions, but there's far more important things for PGI to focus their efforts on.

Quote

How so? For me personally, comparing MWO with CoD is like comparing SimCity with any of bridge-building games.

Solaris Arena would be several order of magnitude more bland than CW if released at this moment. There's no point to implement it, unless you're trying to please few particular whiners, just like you. Besides, it's kinda of stupid to expect Arena activities in the middle of Clan's invasion.
What weapons are missing in your opinion?

Alpha-strikes are broken. They are both the origin of present low TTK dynamics and senior issue compared even to IS/Clan balance.

If you don't see any potential, then move along.
At very least, make a break for a couple months. Perhaps it will reignite your interest. Not much else I can suggest here.

You know... there's a lot more casual players than L33T hardcore meta addicted players. Furthermore casual players play fewer hours and thus to keep getting mechs at a reasonable pace are somewhat more likely to purchase mech packs.

So... I'm hardly surprised that PGI might choose to try and keep the much much larger casual customer base happy at the risk of pissing off a few of the L33T players. MWO is a business after all.

I always wonder...
what do people refer to by 'unfinished' in an online game?

TL;DR:

"I've been playing for just over a month and I'm mad that I still suck against people who've been playing for 2 years or more."

In this case, it's 'missing' a bunch of weapons, 'Mechs, and equipment that didn't exist in the timeline as of when this game is set.

Apologies, I meant what would qualify as a completed product?
I seem to hear that phrase every so often, but never anything on what the little bridge dwellers would consider finished.

Dunno. If asked what an "unfinished" online game is, Starmade comes to mind - it seems to go nowhere for a while, but devs still keep working on it. In this same framework, "finished" game is something like MWT. Coz it is f****n finished, no doubt about that.

I thought it would be obvious, but immersion in the form of a compelling story arc (with and without a single player/coop environment), diverse game modes that aren't basically team death match, inclusion of tanks/vehicles, infantry, aerospace assets (for one, to give scale, and two, to infuse life into the otherwise dead world). You know, the things that would actually go into a Mechwarrior/Battletech title...
