I kept playing on Frozen City, Canyon Network and HPG yesterday. It'll get old eventually.

I don't mind playing other maps now and then, even if they're bad in most people's eyes.

Enjoying it so far, though it'll need time to bed in properly for me to say it's "worked".
BTW I thought there supposed to be a 4th game mode coming along with it, anyone got any clue on that??

You must love skirmish mode!

I like it too, I feel the Wind of Democracy sweeping the battlefields.

Aye that Democracy forces me to pay endless skirmish-against my will. I'm feeling the wind of democracy too!

That's because the drooling masses prefer the mindlessness that is skirmish. Thinking and situational awareness is hard.

That's "democracy" for you mate. Just because there is more of something, don't make that something right. Usually means there are more human sheep gathered in one place.

Yeah, having read the good and bad complaints over the past several minutes, I'm going to have to play some more, probably today, to come to my own conclusion.

The problem isn't necessarily the voting itself, but that the "random" maps that get to be chosen from probably don't have much weighting based on what maps aren't being played.

First off, I think perhaps it should be a choice of 3 maps to vote on, not 4, just due to the small number of maps this game has currently.

Now for example, if everyone is just picking frozen city or HPG because they are almost always in the selection group, then the fix is to occasionally make the 3-4 choices not be one of those. They could weigh more heavily the maps not being chosen so that they will be likely to be pitted only against other less chosen options, so you might find plenty of times where your choices are between Caldera, Terra Therma, and Canyon or something.

Alright, so, now that I've played about thirty matches with the new voting system, I have to say... I really really like it... except for one problem... it does not matter what game Frozen City or Alpine show up in, if one of those two maps is available, all of the No Heat Unlimited Ammo crowd, as I now refer to them, will chose either of those maps, period. There is NO EXCEPTION to this. Unfortunately, Frozen City in particular comes up entirely too often, and so of all the games I've played between last night and today, over half of them have been Frozen City.

That's a cryin' damn shame.

The issue, BIG ISSUE, with the new voting system is that MWO is even more boring: 60-70% of drops in Frozen City/Manifold.

I can understand that stearing wheels don't like to watch the heat scale. I cannot understand why the stearing wheels don't find BORING like hell to drop in the same 2 maps again and again and again and again. Always Skirmish of course.

So, yersterday I went to play CW. (figure)
At least there are more maps and game mode there....

The people moaning, and insulting other players (because they don't agree with your own opinion - a perfect justification for being insulting I'm sure we all agree ;)) need to consider for a moment - just a moment - that perhaps, rather than a "no heal unlimited ammo" mentality, that perhaps people are simply voting for the maps they think are plain old better.

Not getting many drops in Bog, or the new Caustic any more? Well perhaps many people just don't think they're any good. Ever think of that? :P

Two nights with map voting now.

So far, still only 1 Conquest match. Everything else is Skirmish or Assault.
Maps: Frozen City, Canyon, HPG, Crimson, Alpine, Mining Collective, Tourmaline, River City
Maps yet to see: Terra Therma, Caustic Valley, Forest Colony, Viridian Bog

People dislike these maps because they are either hot or have many obstacles blocking vision.
The maps are not the problem, they just offer a different challenge.

Then maybe use your group votes to force a different map? You know, one of your major points of contention.

How about make a lost vote weight more? Say: You vote for map "A" and get outvoted, your next vote counts like 2 votes, till you get your favorite map. Then you start with your normal vote again.

My opinion is that the new voting method takes away from that feeling of not knowing what map or mode (I choose them all for this reason) one plays on, such that it forced me to mix my load-outs more.

Now, it is a safe bet that I can boat more often and be a better team player.

I need a Mech around 70-90 KPH at the least; I need medium to long range lasers; and I am good to go.

Do not like skirmish? Do not vote for it.

For better or worse, your vote has just as much weight as everyone else.

Maybe people will eventually get bored and begin to select different game modes and maps (or am I kidding myself?).

Vote in the new Map Poll to maintain ongoing track of maps seen most and least.
