It's preferable to the metaphorical punch in the balls I get every time I have qued up today. I'd rather have ZERO input, what so ever than this crap.
while this version doesn't absolutely kill me (yes I prefer conquest, and like the harder maps, too, but am willing to trade some of that for faster queues....which all my drops have been pretty much instant today), I was indeed being serious.
Yes lots of people cried they wanted control, but honestly, I think there was less complaining than having control gives....and for all the reasons I spelled out 2 yrs ago.

Mode selection.. not so much.
I like playing Conquest, the cbill rewards are alot better in the mode + I just like the mode, gameplay is so much more fun and varied when people can't just camp all game.

(Ok, like might be a strong word here)
Not only did I like the old random selection, I also liked the old random matchmaking.

I like diversity in game mode, and I like the challenge of different terrain and environment.
I would also like more game modes, 12v12 death match is pretty... vanilla....
It is a shame the population is so low, that we can't all have what we want (fast MM, balanced teams, choice of game mode and choice of map...)

If it's removed, I can say with almost 100% certainty that it won't be replaced with player-chosen game mode selection again. That ship has sailed and it simply wasn't working. If the voting system is removed, they will most likely replace it with random game mode selection just like maps used to be...or at the very least, another variation of the voting system.

If it as bad as he says I will be trying more CW and playing regular drops less. if I get skirmish all the time, I won't be joining the deathball. I may die faster but that's ok if it gets me out of that horrific game mode. I have plenty of mastered mechs to drop in.

I did get a conquest map... with my slow Heavy Gauss Mech. The only thing better would have been with my Highlander.
I was seeing a bunch of the same maps coming up as well.
Not impressed with the changes, death-match seems to be the only way to go now.

5 Conquest, 2 Assault, 0 Skirmish matches.
All matches on Alpine, Canyon, or Tourmaline.
Frozen City was available many times, but not only did it never win, it was never even close. Skirmish was available in 4 matches, none of them went that way. 3 where Skirmish:Conquest, and 1 was Assault:Skirmish.
Small sample size, to be sure, but certainly a counter to tales of nothing but Frozen City Skirmish.

That was the goal all along. Dumb it down, minimally viable, and there you go. Remove options and the terror of having to adapt so the twitch kiddies can have what they want: 1 game mode, on a handful of maps, with 1-button alpha kills. Simple and stupid - and then it's on to Steam, apparently...

I had no issues with the old que times. Que a mech, alt tab for a bit on facebook OH HEY match is up, lets go murder. Wash, rinse repeat.
Gaijin did the same ******** stuff with thier mm and now that game is virtually unplayable.
Wargaming complained about certain tanks with preffered MM making the MM work harder ( we never noticed) so are removing good premium vehicles and replacing them with...well..CRAP. that sees top tier games and cannot handle them with thier poor guns.
Why do developers think that we hate waiting 2 or 3 minutes for matchmaker? Its not the wait time that pisses us off, it is the imbalanced matches we did get...fixed a little by the PSR rating...

Look I get it, you can't math. You can't logic. It's a miracle you installed mechwarrior all by yourself and you HATE the idea that someone would want to play something other than death match forever. You HATE that this isn't COD. You want it to be more like COD.
If you want variety, you have to play COD now.

I'm thinking it would be best just to have random maps plus game mode and be done with it.

They don't have wit enough for that. As discussed earlier, they'll think that they are geniuses, what with 66% of all games being Skirmish and all of them being on the coldest maps available. It's a win-win for them. They don't have to develop any new content since now content we currently have will SEEM new when we rarely do get a Conquest game or a non-frozen map. They also can justify this idiocy with the vote data, proving "that's what the people want!"
The problem is that far too many people want a featureless, flat map, with maybe 1 rock near their - and only their - spawn point to hide behind - with infinite cooling. Oh, and the opponent should be a "noob" or a "bad" in a crappy trial mech so they can be quickly killed by the hundreds by our brave, skilled hero in his dual Gauss + laser vomit "Skill Wolf." Future patches will include other features players want, such as twitch-reflex based damage buffs, skill-based auto-aiming, and directly posting to the forums after a win about how great the victor is and how everyone else is a "stupid bad who needs to git gud!"

I didn't mind waiting for an Assault or Conquest drop with the old ques, not even a little. Skirmis is just so...boring.
I could say the same about your game mode. This is Mechwarrior based upon epic combat. It might be different if your "base" actually was a base, but instead it's a block of land not much bigger than your mech. And you can literally win without firing a shot. You could throw Mario out there and run around capturing bases. Have little power-ups like mushrooms when your on the base that makes you run faster and then you are able to stomp on other mechs. Have some pipes you can jump into to teleport to another world. Or, how bout make pellets you can eat all over the map and the bases have bigger pellets you can munch on that allows you to gobble up other mechs.

It's fine to have a game mode preference. Everyone does. But don't go off saying that having objectives in a military action is ridiculous... If anything, fighting solely to kill the other guy is extremely uncommon. Combat is almost always about something else, and the usually inevitable result of that conflict.
It's very common for military actions to end without anyone firing a shot.
No, obviously, nobody wants that to be the norm in MWO, and thankfully it isn't. I have NEVER seen a conquest game play out without combat, and VERY few assault matches... And those assault matches? Every single player could have engaged if they wanted to, so they got what they wanted, as boring as that may be for others. Not one player in an assault match that goes 100% without combat gets to complain that that happened. Not one.
