I love maps that encourage me to use thermal and night vision. The combat situation you find yourself in while in special vision, feels twice as badass.

Bog has too many things that stop your movement (let alone hit against), and Terra Therma... well... positioning and placement of the entrances to the middle are lopsided (the southern entrance is a deathtrap/killzone while the northern entrance has a chance to go two mechs wide AND has the lower ramp to get up onto the damn thing in the middle).
While some people may "claim" that hot maps are less popular.. Tourmaline bucks that trend... it does have crappy environmental hitboxes, but it actually has multiple points of attack... different variations for range and close quarters combat.
Things like this never seem to factor into PGI's thinking.

Heaven forbid that a mech traveling 150 KPH is brought to a dead stop for hitting a pebble he can not see
Heaven forbid that a mech comes to a complete stop when they hit an invisible object out in the open of viridian Bog.
Close as realistic like to run at this speed against a wall and doesn't get hurt, or do a 180° turn on the spot...

Then, after a rousing game of "put the pinpoint alpha on the noob," they can wander on over to the forums and whine about the lack of "role warfare" and how the game is no longer a "thinking man's shooter," even though their votes made it depressingly clear what the majority actually wants.

Pgi is only enabling this lazy-man's shooter to exist.

For your consideration, look at the fiasco of CW, ruined by seal-clubbing sociopaths.
Every time any form of skill-based matchmaking was proposed to end the pointless, one-sided rolls, the tryhards yelled and screamed about how "seal-clubbing was a vital part of the high-skill CW environment and since real war isn't fair or fun, CW shouldn't be, either." They successfully got their way and were allowed to bludgeon random PUG's while trumpeting about how "skilled" they were - and now CW is effectively dead. They were allowed to run the show, and the results are clear for everyone to see... so listening to such people on the PTS or when it comes to map selection is simply not a good idea.
They are not interested in a challenge, a balanced game, or anything normal people would consider fun; they just want to be handed wins over and over again while being fed a steady stream of "noobs" and "bads" to abuse while deluding themselves about how good they are at a niche video game that they are killing.

Even i had to come to the realization that Radagast was right on many thjngs though he looked a bit loopy at that time. Besides, i dont view this game in isolation but rather through a socio-political and ethical lens. Something that eludes most players. Most commonly those at high tier who have bought into the paradigm pandered by pgi.
And i have accepted my inner grumpy cat long ago.
