As long as it measures up to the license holders. World ain't all about you.

Don't like it? Sorry to hear. Lorts disagree with you. Best thing to do at this point? Go play something you do like instead of trying to convince everyone to be as miserable as you apparently are.

I have played the PC games (MW2, MW2GBL, MW2 Mercs, MW3, MW3PM, MW4, MW4BK, MW4 Mercs, MCG, MC2) and I have played them all (MW2 Mercs onwards) online. In every single game the online community has attacked how it's not really Battletech enough or how the last game was better.

It especially makes me laugh when I see guys here holding up MW4 as a paragon when at the time it was looked at like MW3's ugly over torso twisting freak sister with nothing but pop tarting builds using 3rd person view.

I agree with Bishop on this (for like the 10th time today... Having some kind of Bishop love-fest at the moment). As long as the license holders are happy and it is making money for them nobody is going to take away the name.

UGH.

MW4. By far, the worst iteration of the Franchise.

Mind you, I'm speaking game mechanics. I enjoyed the PvE campaigns well enough. But I would say MW2 Mercs was the flagship of trying to really capture "Battletech".

Thing is...none have been particularly good Multiplayer Shooters, which is ALL the multiplayer modes for any previous MW title were, too. MW2 was back in the day sof ancient internet speeds, MW3 was all about legging, and MW4 was 3pV Poptarts.

The rose colored glasses are indeed strong. Overall, for all it's flaws, this is the best multiplayer iteration.

With this hitting steam it makes me wish they would add the older games too. Who owns the rights these days , is still MS?

Well....for 3 and 4.

For 2... it was activision... but when MS got the digital rights... IDK if that included earlier titles. Would love it though.

Well to be fair, the previous titles were all made in the time where the game was built as a singleplayer game and then they tacked on a multiplayer afterwards. A whole lot of titles put singleplayer before multiplayer, which is the opposite of most titles today where the singleplayer is tacked on after finishing the multiplayer portion (CoD comes to mind in this aspect, but ESO is the most egregious offender).

You do need to account for beam duration though.

Wow, that is some serious delusion there. I guess if PGI went ahead with some arbitrary nonsense range penalty for lasers then people would start using SSRMs, SRMs, flamers, machine guns, AC2 that runs ridiculously hot, ER PPCs that move way too slow to bother using over PPCs, LRMs that still get countered by the magic jesus box, etc...

Oh wait, you're just stupid.

HAH! Good one.

I'm delusional? Since when has it been remotely difficult to drag your cursor along a moving enemy while your laser fires? NEVER.

I suppose for somebody who doesn't even understand the physics behind a weaponized laser, that fix would seem arbitrary. I could explain to you the concept of focusing a laser's energy to a pinpoint target for maximum damage yield, and how that would require detailed lock-on information to best track the distance to point-of-contact...

Ah, but I forgot. [b]You're just stupid.

Nope. I was rooming with a Chinese family.

I did however share my livings spaces with cockroaches, and my next-door roommate was either a Raccoon or a Possum that lived right under my floorboards. So, I guess that comes pretty close to renting w/ ninja turtles... that was a pretty low point in my life fo sho... that's what happens when you try to get through uni without taking a student loan.

Either you're kidding, it was a tiny box, or that was a long time ago.

But if not, please share some information. With how often I go there, it will be cheaper to rent a whole year than stay in hotels.

I'm not lying, but it was sort of a special circumstance. The place was owned by a friend of a friend, and they weren't even thinking of renting it out in the first place. My friend managed to convince them, after the previous place I was staying at got bedbugs from another tenant and my landlord refused to do anything about it.

To be honest, the lowest rent you'll find in downtown Toronto is probably around $500. There's literally zero chance of me finding low rent like that again, as that was four years ago and I believe that family has moved back to China.

Gotta agree with you, Single player wise MW2 Mercs really was the pinnacle of the entire series imo, MW3 was no slouch in that regard either and for it's time was a technological marvel, that Zipper engine that they put together in 18 or so months was so ahead for the time it came out. And then we got MW4 and it looked like utter **** in comparison and played like utter ****.

It always amused me that teams at Activision and Zipper made better Mech games than Fasa themselves managed to do with Microsoft's money backing them. Including Cyberlore's contributions. Hell Cyberlore isn't even around anymore either.

Not a matter of fair or unfair, you are quite correct. Doesn't change the reality of what existed though, is the point.

They tried to make this PvE first with MW5, and between HG and lack of any publisher willing to back it, that never happened. So they crowdsourced a F2P Multiplayer game. It is what it is.

I will say for all it's "failures" that we probably wouldn't even be talking about HBS bringing us their new Btech game if MWO hadn't actually succeeded beyond what the Hate Brigade is willing to admit.

It has warts, it needs depth, and it bloody well needs balance... but then, last I checked, the same complaints are lodged on the forums of pretty much every single multiplayer game out there.

Not the first time you have told a paying customer to go do something else. Well here is a new flash, everyone is allowed their opinion and yours is no more important than theirs. And telling paying customers to slag off in a game that isn't exactly flush with people to spend more money...just apologize already.

A majority may not agree with him, but a majority do agree this game has taken missteps as of late. Easily avoidable missteps.

Can't wait to see how many of the Steam crowd you go after. They are going to love you.

400 bucks a month can get you a place in a lot of America...just not places like San Francisco, LA or NYC. I rented a Studio in Ohio for 375 a month for a full decade until I moved to Mexico. Mind you, I pay $300 a month for a 3 bedroom/2 bath home down here. And I am a 10 minute walk from the beach.

You responded.

How many times have you used your TT experience as currency to make a point? And you deride someone else for doing the same? Tsk, tsk.

MWO needs every paying customer.

But how instead removing Battletech from the name of this game we just call it a "Battletech simulation game"? Sort of like Battletech, but with just a sniff of lore, and none of the things that made Battletech fun to play?

And by all means tell me to play another game. I am sure PGI would like to see you tell a whale to stop putting money into the game. Hell, you told everyone not to put money in when you were throwing your tantrum over the Highlander and jump jets. Boo hoo.

And if you haven't guessed I hate bullies.

Sorry. This is not a Battletech game. It's nothing more than a mech shooter. Dime a dozen. You wouldn't know a real Battletech game if it slept with you. Not that it would ever lower itself that way.

So, oh wise and supremely sexy one, please can you enlighten this humble person as to what an FPS Battletech game would be?

Because right now I'm seeing a game that, whilst it has had to make some concessions to go from turn based two-player tabletop strategy game to a twenty four player real time computer action game, has all the trappings of Battletech (the mechs, the factions, the weapons, the lore, the IP rights etc).

I freely accept that you can argue as to if it's a good or a bad Battletech product, but it's easily as inside the setting as any of the other Mechwarriors and I don't see anyone else yelling that those should be burnt as a heresy.
