There are some good ideas presented here, not knowing the underlying complexities in implementing such bonus sessions, I would think they could play with it and try out different reasons to mix it up a bit once the system settles into a rhythm.
Even if it is a nominal amount, it might help push some usage to either under-utilized tech, off peak activity times on the servers, or even help guide battles to priorities related to the ongoing story line.

did like the idea of a power hour as in a smaller 10% bonus for the first hour of every day though.
the X2 for one match sucked and did not inspire me to even login most days.

The other option I was thinking about if time wasn't a good consideration was just the first 10 wins of the day with a 10% bonus. That way you didn't feel the need to rush through games in order to get the most xp.
But then I just realized something... tanks penalizes your xp when you lose and gives you extra xp when you win. IF MWO just says hey you did this you get this much XP then it could just be your first 10 games (no win condition).

My question is then, have you ever played a game where you have each character/mech/tank get the bonus and seen first hand how this effects your decisions and game play? For some games a single boost per day makes sense, for other games a single boost per unit makes sense. I can see where you are coming from with your opinion but I wonder if your opinion would change after you had witnessed this first hand.. it's easy to immediately say "no it wouldn't change.." but that's without the experience/kniowledge you would get from playing a game like that.

In WoT I learned to ignore the 2x incentive on any tank that wasn't a priority. Only way to get anywhere. It was a nice bonus though if you had a really good game on a tank and could save yourself 3-4 average battles.

well, for me that is a thin line, there are times when grind in a game is so overwhelming i stop playing all together, it doesn't happen very often, but when it does i usually quit and never touch the game again.

I was actually going to agree with him till I read your post.
The multiplier weekends/events would be an even better idea. It would give a chance to those who do not have a founders pack a chance to level up quicker.
Plus the weekend events tend to draw more people in, more mechs to turn into crumpled sheets of metal, or turn my mech into a crumpled sheet of metal.

Yes I have, I have played WoT for a good extended period of time, and personally disliked the bonus per tank idea, I prefer the straight bonus per day, its just seems to fit things better than per vehicle but again, it is simply an opinion, if they go either way I wont play the game less or more.

As I recall from the dev blogs the general idea is that get better both in one of three roles (scout, commander, brawler/combatant) and in one of four weight classes (light, medium, heavy and assault). Your weight class improvements require piloting a mech of that class though it can be any one from the weight group.
So I suppose if they were trying to encourage weight class diversification for some reason you could get a bonus per each weight class per first use per day. I imagine that owning 4 mechs won't be that hard as their announced dropship mode seems to call for having four mechs on hand unless they are allowing repairs between lives (which we have seen nothing about).

Yes, you get pilot XP, loyalty points and cash. However, I do remember reading somewhere that you would also earn chassis specific experience.
