But I agree. PGI, please make it impossible on Taiga or any other CW map to kill gens or Omega from outside the gates.

Have been complaining about this as well, but PGI won't fix. So it's working as intended and I intend to use it as often as i can. BUT: quirked IS ERLL are doing even better at it, because of lower damage fall-of.

Yes, even better, as IS solo PUG (374 avg. for the matches until I got over 4000 at which point i stopped, so not 18k total score. Srsly, get a life dude! ;)). PGI pls nerf.

Really, you want to punish a unit for being successful?

Were they successful because they played well consistently as a whole, or were they successful because they simply poured in the masses and made points through average quality gameplay?

With my reasoning the leaderboard could theoretically even end up as;
1. -MS1-
2. -MS2-
3. -MS3-
4. -MS4-
5. -MS5-

That would only mean that each MS unit in itself is playing consistenly top quality games. However, are they playing better than the currently ranked 2 through 10 placed units? No idea... no unit lower than 3 or 4 even remotely had a chance of keeping up with the points flood of the top sized units.

I had fun during the event.

Me too!

Out of all the matches I played this weekend, saw 12man premades, 3-4 times in total, averages 1 a day! Rest we all skittles.

The most memorable games were the hard fought ones I have over the weekend. Serious, drag out fights right down to the timer. Just crazy intense fights! Back and forth with no idea who was going to win until the timer ran out, in some cases.

Those are the most memorable fights I had all weekend. Those are the ones I want more of. At the end of those long battles, winning or loosing didn't matter, it was the close fight til the end that was the best.

IMO and IME, this event was better just in the quality of matches. Experienced far less one sided fights then ever before and it was GLORIOUS!

Yes, CW needs work - we all know this. My good experiences far outweighed the bad.

CW issues as a whole not withstanding, give this CW event 7-8 out of 10.

Well there are two things I wanna point out here:

First, as a part of the unit you sometimes end up leading the push and die first with 100dmg which ruins you overall score and while you make it to the enemy base again your team already killed 2/3 of the enemy team. Good players which tend to pug play usually generate better match scores.

Second, I had a blast this weekend, even managed to go out, do some shopping, see friends and play MWO. I feel happy now :)

I agree. also think there should be unit size limits. i mean, in the lore, generally a regiment-sized Merc Unit was considered huge. limit it at 108. do something like EVE where you can "alliance" units under the same faction, so on, and give good rewards for doing so, as well as better signing bonuses for longer contracts.

honestly, week-long contracts are the stupidest thing ever. no ACTUAL country would hire a PMC for just a week.... not to mention most Self-respecting merc units would probably want a longer job. they get paid more. prob is, merc contracts right now pay on a per-mission basis. they should be paid on a "contract ends" basis, and the longer the contract, the more you make per mission you completed under it. Permanent signers would get weekly or by-weekly paychecks dependant on their performance.

just a thought. don't think it's a bad one either. would incentivize staying with a faction longer, or even permanently.

Did you ever consider this is a game? I doubt people playing mercenaries would enjoy being bound to a faction for half a year minimum or a couple of years. *chuckle*
Not to speak of the fact that then any destroyed mech would remain destroyed and all you might get after a fight is a couple of tons worth of scrap metal, that is if your pilot surivives, if not, perma death for the account and all the items in it...

The latter certainly; I cannot comment on the former. However, I do not mind that Community Warfare is won by a large community as God is on the side of the big battalions.

If you want quality to matter, then you may consider a joint leaderboard score: the 10 best scores of the 10 best players per unit determine your leaderboard position. As an inside joke, of course, that does not determine the outcome of the battle, but will give good units a chance to shine. Or find out the mercs still dominate any chart you throw at them?

I might want to point out the obvious response:
As part of a PUG team, oftentimes you lead the push and find yourself quite alone beyond the gate, doing only one or two alphas of damage AND losing the match. But hey, I got your point and it is very well taken. And tbh my average was pulled up by an exceptionally good game and only two stomps with less than 200 match scores. So I might not be represenative to the whole PUG experience.

FWIW, on my alt account which is Clan Ghost Bear, it took me 15 games to break 4k match score and my average was ~287 (with 1 gg >500 and two stomps <200 one of them even only 90).

That would also work. I dont have anything against large units as they are not at fault for this.

I play Guild wars for example where guild sizes are restricted to 100 per guild, but they can band together with 10 other guilds to form an alliance. If one guild earns an ingame advantage, then the whole alliance can share it, but only the guild which actually worked for it is named.

Large alliances of 1000 players therefore can get rewards (Warhorns and banners in MWO to carry over to here for example), but only the best battalion of 100 players will be able to earn the right of being named as receiving the win (-MS4- for example). If the battalion with the top 100 players are not as good as the top 100 players in a different alliance, then no one will win anything.

Both of our suggestions reward quality. I find yours rewards luck a bit too much though for my taste, as all that is needed is for the team to protect a few select players from loosing any mechs to get a good score whereas my suggestion means the whole unit/battalion must play consistently well as a whole to be able to keep the top spot.

What about a leaderboard for fixed* groups? Like 12-mech premade, 10-mech premade, 8-mech premade and maybe lower?
That way, quality as well as dedication would be rewarded.

*for the duration of the event, either drop in this, your group or go solo.

The 9 groups in CW now are a bit like the alliances I suppose? Note sure how it will out with groups up to 100 players only with the small player base this game has and with only a few thousand actually playing CW during this event. Also, teams working a few of their best players forward to reap high scores should be rewarded---in my opinion---as they work together to get the job done. :)

Did a 4098 match score in 17 PUG matches (would have been less if not the awful last day games). I am an average Tier 3 player, spend just about 1,5 - 2 hours a day to finish. Clan side of course, so no waiting times whatsoever.

Around 10 - 7 wins/losses and about the same ratio for Counterattack/attack game modes.
My scores:
Spoiler

From all the losses I had:
- completely stomped with 12DG and MJ12, and also lost with 8ppl group against another premaid
- very, very close game when we were slaughtered by the dropships in the end
- 3 completely disorganized attacks in the last day

Every victory was a well cordinated adrenaline action - enjoyed them a lot! Thumbs up for guys from SPQR unit for targets calling and other guys who was there for teamwork. True mechwarriors!

Overall nice event PGI!

Some funny moments I recall:

228th may have 180 members, but they didn't field more than a couple 12mans for the event to my knowledge. They aren't "flooding" points, they are consistently playing their A-game because those pilots know each other for a long time and possess high individual skill. I've dropped with them a few matches and each and everytime the enemy team got confused if it wasn't another comp-unit with 8+ people on the other side.

Bottom line: If you read "big names" on the enemy team, still play your game. Don't "hide" or hold back, because that'll cause exactly the opposite of what you're trying to achieve.

Sidenote: Yeah, it took me 8 games to get the max needed matchscore. So? 201st teamed up with ELP for the event and went on an 8 hour winning streak. We had our share of losses after that, but overall? The individual pilot skill / unit skill in certain cases is just...blowing me away! There were 10mans that we didn't expect to win against and that got washed away. In certain cases it came down to the last second (*tip to that hat ACES*) to win even. We got rolled by MJ12 (great game btw, gents!) but still made the match worthwhile lasting nearly full time - and everyone had fun. It happens for gods sake. It's a game!

Posted Image

Stats: Average Match Score: 380 (14844 MatchScore : 39 Games Overall) - it really comes down to dropping with people you can play with and know what to do and when!

The main problem I saw are PUG teams with NO whatsoever coordination and that doesn't change despite VOIP - people don't want to take command, too many EGOs clashing IF someone decides to take command and everyone does what they do best: Running around like headless chickens. In the aftermath reading "Clanners cheat" or "OP Clans" when you waste a whole wave of Thunderbolts is making me laugh, sorry. Perhaps take advice from people playing this game since closed beta and listen to the top-tier units / players when they try to help with a suggestion.

My experience in this event was, that during solo-PUGing quite a few unit members joined the mostly PUG teams, yet the VOIP stayed silent. So it's not entirely the evil solo-PUGer's fault.

My summary of the Battle of Tyykaid 2 is that:
  • At this point Inner Sphere is almost perfectly balanced with Clans. There's of course personal bias among the playerbase, calling their favored side as one in disadvantage, based on their determination to emphatise the weaker sides of their tech-base, ignoring it's corresponding strong sides. There's also a significant case of inequal distribution of quirks on IS side, the undisputable lack of variety on Clan side, and obvious under/over-powered mechs and variants on both sides. Nevertheless, IS/Clan balance has never felt that close before.
  • Despite the heat balancing on Clan heatsinks, vast majority of Clan players still preferred laser-vomit builds, regardless of environmental circumstances and failure rates. This makes any claims of Clan's higher average skill level pathetic and fundamentally groundless.
  • Disregarding the given warning, many IS players still were confidently running subpar and even trial mechs into the event, with littile to no communication, cooperation and initiative. Considering the disparity between IS mechs/variants versus Clan's infused synergy of Omni-mechs, it had it's effect of general IS PUG performance being plainly hilarious and disappointing.
  • General Tyykaid mechanics remained highly biased in Clan's favor. Out of four potential game-modes (attack, defense, counter-attack and position-hold) only Attacks were possible to win long before time-out. Only Clans were capable of playing that mode, and thus any half-competent Clan formation were capable of going for match objectives directly, ignoring the opposition altogether, using Clan's advantage in mobility. On the other hand, IS teams always had to either decimate all 48 Clan Mechs, or to prolong the match until time-out, in order to win. Thus, Clan representatives always had the possibility of abusing this game-mode assimmetry in their favor.

I PUG'd it up for the whole event and got ~3600 points. Sure, not a whole lot of ROI, but whatever. This event was a lot of fun and it'd be great to see more events like it! I only played against one Clan team that had a bad attitude, but we got stomped by them, so more power to you, I guess. Thanks to everyone that used VOIP during this event!
