i think this entire event is smoke and mirrors in an attempt to get players to forget what bad work PGI does when it comes to patching this game.
And why all this talk about a CW event anyway? i never see more than 50-60 players playing CW anyway..and thats on a good day.
call me crazy but i get the feeling PGI doesnt care what players are thinking they doing what they want for your money...this game feels to me like lil more than a simple cash grab with no care in the world about the product itself.

Last CW one had about 400 people around, Splash. Tukayyid last time had most of the playerbase of the game. also, bear in mind you can only see the number of people on planets you can defend or attack via your faction.

I do feel sorry for my corpsmate Soviet. poor guy is a wrecking machine (especially in a Hunchback) and he'll prbably have to miss a fair amount of this. I got lucky and have a final a week later than usual.

as for me saying MercStar won, the truth of that matter was two things: 1. at the time gates was always closed and turrets were always up, regardless of CW mode. MS are good Clan players and could either jumprush or sniper most of the enemy team before they even got in, or just go for Omega (which had no O-gens at the time if I recall, so it was vulnerable right off the bat) on the attack. 2. the Battle of Tukayyid last time was actually fairly even, it just happened to end in MercStar's primetime and their final matches (which were usually straight Omega Lynx-rushes) tipped it in their favor. the game mechanics at the time favored their tactics.

saying they won it isn't whining. it's a statement of fact. PGI even acknowledged it with that after-action report blurb mentioning the wreck of a TDR-5SS with MercStar and Clan Wolf banners planted in it.

The nice thing is since the last Tuk MS have cleaned up their unit a lot. lot of their pilots last time were toxic, which still makes them unpopular among some units to this day. I respect them as being a very coordinated unit.

anyways, looking forward to dropping with and against all of you that do this weekend. It promises to be one hell of a fight. Great time to break in my Marauders! Posted Image

Well, for those who work from 10am to 9:30pm everyday...this is going to be REALLY tight. If I'm dropping, I'm working.

Prepare yourself!

Man was hoping for a battle for earth event seems fitting to end this phase, but it may give me a reason to hop on cw again.

just imagien its Earth, its just a label tag. Earth wouldn't change the maps we get or any other mechanic.

Are you out of your mind? 40 successful missions for a top tier reward in less then 72 hours? By my calculations this amounts to at least 20 hours playtime without waiting for drops, which will be significant. There are people who have a life.

Steam release is supposed to be the ONE BIGGEST EVENT EVAH since the game got created.. so they better give us all the buzz, hype and joy of such a big thing happening..

May I remember you, when this game went from beta to normal game. NOTHING changed but the Logo. Disappointment will never be the same again.

dude, it is tiered, you get some stuff earlier. There is no need to go to grind all 40games.

also, the reason it probably won't go on as long is just how burnt out it made people. right after Tukayyid 1, CW was literally empty for a week or two. wouldn't really be the best welcome to Steam Players that showed up wanting to try it if none of us more experienced MechWarriors are around to help them out.

Last time it was playing IS, waiting to get into a match. Now will it be the same. Clans almost doing instant drops, while IS waiting and waiting for opponents.

Last Battle of Tukayyid I was IS and played like 50 hours to get all prizes of IS. Because you had waiting-times of 20-30 minutes. Which nearly doubles the 20 hours + stated here in some posts.

After they nerfed the Clans seriously, I don't know how many Clan-Players want to play CW.
AND some people, who normaly play Clans switched maybe to IS to play Marauder in CW.
And Russ posted on Twitter there are 25% more IS than Clan. Question is are they all playing CW.

But I have the feeling IS has to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait AND WAIT.
How should it be possible to play 50 hours in 72 hours.

Considering those prizes, and the lack of anything exciting changing with MWO lately, can't say this will be enough to pull me away from Elite Dangerous for the weekend... Hard to come back to poor optimization and really weak events after seeing what a real, optimized game is like.

Come on PGI, you're losing relevance, please crank it up a notch...I want to want to play MWO, I miss the nostalgia of the game, it's just, incredibly boring at this time. And when newer, prettier games run way, way better on an older computer than MWO, you have some work to do if you want to retain players once Steam hits.(ie, hire a programmer...just one decent one)

This right here, is how it should be.

PGI is not without its flaws, but come on guys. After you hit 25 points it is all mc and c-bill rewards. This is how rewards should be for events. Most of the special items are in the earlier tiers so most participants will receive them. For those that have the time and desire they can grind out the fat payouts in the final tiers.

based on average wait time and game time it will take roughly 22 hours to get 45 matches in. 22 hours in 2.5 days cmon guys im burnt out on CW after like 4 matches maybe try making it less monotonous before you make it a greater grind.

That doesn't even account for the ceasefires which tank the CW population for at least an hour each time...

The last thing you want is inexperienced Steam players trying out CW and getting brutally dominated.

It seems like every time I buy a new mech that comes out, it ends up getting nerfed. How long till the new MAD's are nerfed? And I agree about the heads up time about the event is not enough time to start new contracts and that the play window is too small.

Friday 10:00 PM? Might just as well made that Saturday.

Seriously, I don't remember all event times but I am pretty sure there were quite a few that startet earlier. So I could play when my weekend began and not when I am too buzzed to even drive a mech.

4:00 PM UTC would be a great time to begin!

@MrElusive: some quirks of the MAR are way overboard. I like the fact they gave him movement-quirks, but 70% on acc etc is too much. This mech doesn't feel like playing a 75t behemoth.
And just take a look ath the quirks of the BH2 versus the 5M. Both mechs got jumpjets, the BH2 more or less superior weapon hardpoints - at least they are not inferior. And still, quirkwise there's a huge difference between both mechs. Why? Because the BH2 can't go that fast?

@event: as everyone here saw at first glance:

- virtually no time get ones contract sorted
- and in order to get your points you would need to play 5 - 6h every day. Full time job MWO!

I sincerely hope that isn't true; the official stats say only 17,226 players participated last time.
