i think this entire event is smoke and mirrors in an attempt to get players to forget what bad work PGI does when it comes to patching this game.
And why all this talk about a CW event anyway? I never see more than 50-60 players playing CW anyway..and thats on a good day.
Last CW one had about 400 people around, Splash. Tukayyid last time had most of the playerbase of the game. also, bear in mind you can only see the number of people on planets you can defend or attack via your faction.
I do feel sorry for my corpsmate Soviet. poor guy is a wrecking machine (especially in a Hunchback) and he'll prbably have to miss a fair amount of this. I got lucky and have a final a week later than usual.
as for me saying MercStar won, the truth of that matter was two things: 1. at the time gates was always closed and turrets were always up, regardless of CW mode. MS are good Clan players and could either jumprush or sniper most of the enemy team before they even got in, or just go for Omega (which had no O-gens at the time if I recall, so it was vulnerable right off the bat) on the attack. 2. the Battle of Tukayyid last time was actually fairly even, it just happened to end in MercStar's primetime and their final matches (which were usually straight Omega Lynx-rushes) tipped it in their favor. the game mechanics at the time favored their tactics.
saying they won it isn't whining. it's a statement of fact. PGI even acknowledged it with that after-action report blurb mentioning the wreck of a TDR-5SS with MercStar and Clan Wolf banners planted in it.
The nice thing is since the last Tuk MS have cleaned up their unit a lot. lot of their pilots last time were toxic, which still makes them unpopular among some units to this day. I respect them as being a very coordinated unit.
anyways, looking forward to dropping with and against all of you that do this weekend. It promises to be one hell of a fight. Great time to break in my Marauders!
