So PGI persists in listing mechs by weight when they do these little notes, but alphabetically within a class otherwise (despite nobody else doing so).

Clan mechs--quirks are being pulled out of the omnipods to centralize new quirks in the CT. These are generally a net gain for the mech, but mixing and matching quirks and hardpoints to tweak your mech was one of the things that made OmniMechs truly feel more customizable than IS BattleMechs. Not only that, but the new quirks are mostly bland meh.

Consider the Adder Prime. The Adder-Prime CT gets a slightly better heat-gen buff than the Adder Prime arms had, to go with its but it kisses goodbye the ppc velocity buff and all the flavorful incentive to run the cannon configuration in the first place.

only thing removed is the heat gen quirks, velocity is still there. you may need some sleep. read the text again!

The BJ-1X has been one of my favorite mechs from the day it released...unquirked, quirked, buffed, nerfed...

Ya know what's crazy? I haven't really changed by build for it, ever, and I've had fantastic results with it, ALWAYS.

Makes me wonder if quirks really matter all that f*cking much. They obviously affect how a mech performs...but a pilot is going to do well with a mech he or she likes regardless of how they tweak the numbers.

I think we all knew this was needed and I appreciate the quick response. The clan lights other than the supreme cheetah really took a beating with the heat sink changes. As for the summoner and gargoyle, they are only two mechs among many for both IS/Clan that were simply left in the dust again. I like the changes, but these two mechs weren't a "hotfix" issue, they were issues of neglect.

Please. Fix. Arctic. Cheetah.

Thank you.

What's wrong with it? I'd say they did that mech right. I'd not played mine in over 6 mo.s. Decided to check it out today after the last patch. Wasn't but a few matches before I get 6 kills and over 700 dmg.. with only 4 sm pulse.
Sorry you guys that got spoiled with the way OP cheetah <whole reason I didn't play mine but rarely> but I'd have to say the cheetah is fine. Possibly still a bit strong but that's hard to judge when you are inching your way out of T3.

I would like a logical explanation about why the IS gauss got nerfed like the clan version?

was it that OP?
it is already 3 tons heavier than the clan version. no mech other than some jaggers, Gridirons and king crabs could use it...

i really like a sane explanation.

Gauss period is just silly strong in this game. Even with the slight increase to cooldown it's still one of the strongest weapons in the game. Honestly when they added the charge to fire mechanic my first thought was 'this is silly. why don't they just increase the cd of the weapon by a couple of seconds?'

Although I could take this time to say I wish they would implement the reduced damage for not being targeted. This would fix a lot of the complaining about Gauss as most of those shots that 'piss ppl off' are from outside of targeting range. It also would help to cut down on getting killed by the tons of friendly fire going on today since people don't check their shots for crap anymore. Also guess what it would make ECM all that much more precious as all those shots from the enemy you are taking while inside an ECM bubble would hurt less. Also would make TAG, UAV, and BAP that much more valuable as they would counter act that added benefit. PGI: Do reduce ECM range down even further (by another 1/2 at least) though when you do this. There is already (even with the 90 range) way too many mechs now that have ECM and so that mechanic would be a bit too punishing with ECM being so prevalent.

I'm sorry, but post-patch I'm still seeing a Direwolf break 1000 damage and 4 kills in a match every time I sit down to play the game. The Direwolf is fine.

Yup. You need support, as one vs. one with the agi nerfs your basically a free lunch for a light, but then... Don't wander off alone. There needs to be some disadvantage for carrying the most firepower of any mech in the game, and that's it.

You can still run dual gauss, lasers, missiles, autocannons.... all at once if you feel so inclined. You can still push 120 point alpha strikes. So, yeah.

Before the nerf, if you were a half decent pilot, it was physically impossible for any light to stay out of your firing arcs, no matter how good a pilot the light was. Now, that is no longer true: A speedy light with a competent pilot CAN stay out of your firing arcs (unless you back into a corner, that is), so you need....

Teamwork.

It's still silly strong, but Navid is correct - the issue was that the IS variant was nerfed the same as the Clan one. Perhaps both needed to be nerfed, but without massive weapon quirks everywhere for IS, the fact of the matter remains that the Clan Gauss has exactly the same stats/performance, at a greatly reduced size and weight. The IS Gauss should cycle a bit faster, or be less explosive, or something to compensate. I personally feel it should simply not explode at all anymore, or at least explode as often as ammo does - 10% of the time. Sturdier construction, given the size and weight.

You can't compare the two weapons without remembering the mechs they go in. IS gets to change their engines, their armor type, etc. Clans still don't get that. So two mechs of the same tonnage IS VS CLAN the IS mech has the advantage of being able to tweak their mech more for more ammo. Yeah the two weapons are nearly the same short tonnageand slots but don't forget the mechs they are going in.

When are we going to have removable endo/ferro and ballistic+energy high mount torso hardpoints of the Summoner?

Oh heaven forbid it become meta! At least it'll look sexy doing it. It's such a hawt robit that deserves even more love.

BJ-1X has four amazing properties that outweigh quirks...

1. It is small
2. It is fast!
3. It has very high mounted hardpoints
4. It has abundant hardpoints of the same weapon type (8 energy)

All of these combined make it a superstar. And I love it. My Dragon, Victor and Trebuchet hate it; while Blacjacktrix hangs with the cool kids they're in the corner playing chess looking at girlie magazines.

Well, since IS Mechs can boat is about as much as Clan Mechs, I don't think the difference matters that much. Sane explanation would be that Gauss was kinda op or whatever.

IS can boat as much as clan mechs????? Show me the IS 100 Tonner that can carry 13 medium lasers and 2 GUASS which allow 120point alpha strikes without shutdown???

Look at my faction. My post count. I've been here a very long time, with 100 mechs, some 6000 drops. I understand the difference between the factions.

Locked engines, Endo/FF - these things don't make up for lighter/smaller weapons. Because these things simply determine if your mech is good or bad before you even launch. You've either got a good engine, or a bad one; good FF/ES setup or bad. (or whatever in between)

So, these things make some Clan mechs bad. But they don't impact the other mechs. Locked engines/FF/ES are not, then, an effective balancing point for anything.

It's the "Timberwolf Problem", really. Sure, you're locked into that 375XL and ES/FF, but you want those, generally speaking. Don't? That's where the EBJ comes in. Then, you get the right engines, ES, FF, and you get the advantages of a lighter, smaller goosewaffle.

shuts down and your atlas get's more shots in,meanwhile the dire wolf is struggling to NOT overheat.
besides only a noob would use such a build it's just not practicall to have 13 lasers.

-revert heatsink changes and REMOVE THE QUIRKS EVERY ONE!

BUG REPORT....

Actually reporting that the first game with hotfix has fixed the map and compass jerkiness. Looks good. Need to try and still replicate color selection issues I reported.

The heck? So the Blackjack continues to be a tougher mech than the 50/55 ton mediums?

Its not like the mech was even underused before. Now we're just going to see a zerg rush of them.

I had shelved plans to buy them when upcoming nerfs were announced. Back on again, since there's no real nerf to speak off.

This one is definitely being sarcastic...

Dude, its side torsos are 2 points shy of a 65 tonner's. Hellbringer side torso has 60 armor, 30 structure for 90 total. The Blackjack has 44 armor, 22 structure, and 22 structure in quirks for a total of 88.

Bro... look at my numbers as well. I just don't spend much time on the forums. In fact I've been here 2 months longer than you.

I'm not arguing anything you just brought up. I'm simply pointing out much of the same that you just stated with the only exception being: YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE THE MECH. That's something people clearly don't get in this game. A BATTLEMECH is a weapons system. The weapons you can swap out are a part of that system. Straight comparing this weapon to that weapon IS vs CLAN without including the entire weapons platform/system is erroneous at best. Now does it exactly 'balance' no but it's certainly a part of the balancing factor.
