I have yet to run an XL in my Marauder because if the enemy knows how and where to shoot I'm down in seconds.

Its not particularly mobile so yeah, it is a bit tankier to compensate.

Still dies like any other mech though.

The MAD is fine. I feel no pity for anyone who pilots one. They got a heavy 'mech sized like a medium.

edit: BAH your title is misleading (sometimes I don't bother reading whine threads based on the title alone). I thought it was whining the MAD is too weak--but no, it is too strong. I think it is too small. Other 'mechs are way bigger than it and weigh less...

I mean... look at my poor Catapult.

you don´t believe that it is twice as long as the others, do you? his point is valid. Just compared my griffin in a match with one and for 75t it is too small imo.

The SRMs hit the side torsos, because of the short range. If he didn't blew up we could have seen that.

Honestly, I think we'd need to see the video. The Marauder has at most 94 CT armor and 78 each ST. Some folks run with no rear armor though I find that too risky so 90 and 75 are probably the max. That is a total of 240 armor on the front torso of a Marauder. So ... it is possible to strip 200 armour off the front and not even open ANY of the sections if your damage is distributed. Marauder from the front is pretty narrow like the Stalker ... if they faced you during the entire fight then even a little wobble in your aim with lasers will likely spread damage over the CT and both ST. In addition, SRMs automatically spread damage ... they would be distributed over the torso and if you are firing from 200m then some would likely hit the arms and miss as well.

Your theoretical damage if everything hit is only 228 (4 x SRM6 x 2 = 4 * 12.9 * 2 = 103 + 125 for lasers = 228) ... so the hit registration wasn't that bad.

Basically, it comes down to a 50 ton medium spreading damage all over the front of a 75 ton heavy ... assuming there weren't any other mechs in the fight the results are pretty much as expected.

You ask too much. Sorry, I don't make these pictures. But you have a wonderful device between your ears more powerful than any computer on Earth capable of quantum superposition--your brain! With a thought experiment you can take those two different pictures and visualize what it looks like on the side!

Net result: CPLT is way too big. MAD is too small. TBR is... well... was made small to make it what it is.

As far as my brain knows, PGI takes the sizes out of the lore. So thats where they are too big or small.

Which is good, but screws other 'bad' mechs over.

Nope. Very few if any of the SRMs actually hit the CT though I think there should have been more damage registered on the targetted paper doll.

1) The first SRM volley is near the end of the 2s mark. You have zero range between you and the target which means the sight lines from the weapon to the aim point intersect the model before reaching the targeted point. Weapons in MWO don't have perfect convergence at close range. In addition, SRMs have spread of their own. There is one frame where you can see that your aim point is to the left of the center of the Marauder and missiles look to be spread over the RT/CT and possible RA of the target. Depending on how high the launchers are on the Stormcrow (they appear to be above the cockpit) some might even have flown over the Marauder depending on the spread of the individual missile.

2) Your second shot at 6s is to the right on the target. Missiles hit the LT/LA mostly ... possibly some CT. However, there is a frame showing at least 2 missiles and possibly more missing by traveling between the LA and the LT.

So although the MAD was hit by a lot of missiles ... they were not all or even mostly on the CT. I do think the target paper doll did not update with all the damage but you died very shortly after the second SRM volley so if there was sufficient lag it would not have updated by the time you died.

It's not Wrong, it's been documented several times. The Arctic Cheetah just has really tight (aka good) hitboxes and a small profile.
