This will probably sound elitist even though that is not intended, but perhaps CW could have a caveat of "no tier 5s"

I am not convinced this would be the best way to improve game play in CW with the new influx, but I figured I would throw it out there...

Or perhaps one must drop 100 pug matches or so before they can queue for CW.

My point is that if this is the "end game" mode then perhaps it would benefit from having some sort of progression, even if it's only 2 steps...

I'd put some signs on Faction Play like BEWARE, STOMP IMMINENT, ARE YOU SURE?!, THINK AGAIN!, NEWBIE STAY AWAY etc. ^^

this was suggested for so long...but there are still at least 2 guys in every CW game not getting more than 200dmg in 30min.

In most other games new players are locked out from such a hardcore mode...

Why on earth would you do that? Have you no popcorn?? Don't ruin the entertainment for the rest of us with your proper and considerate behavior.

I look forward to clubbing seals as the rest lol but in all seriousness they would take clubbing better if they had some kind of forewarning like "Oh the warning was true, my bad for ignoring it."

Clubbing Seals... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I suppose you're right at that. Community warfare has needed that warning for a long time now really, it really is hard mode even for the majority of the current pop.. Still looking forward to the salt. TBH though even pug lyfe quick matches will be pretty brutal for awhile. It's a pity I'll be asleep around launch, though I guess by morning there will be plenty of seals on the snow..

Long shot from someone who doesn't know such things but i'm assuming there is zippo performance advantage to play from steam for example on a low spec machine like a laptop or is it even the inverse?

So it's the big day, and no front page posting. (Warframe got posted twice; once for an update today and once for "HEY WE HAVE IT COME TRY IT")

Nothing on MWO. I did find it, but had to search for it myself.
Posted Image Disheartening start, though it may be waiting until after the 9:30 AM down time is done? (Yep: "This game will unlock in approximately 2 hours.")

Perhaps we can get PGI to have a booming voice tell anyone with less than X amount of games or Tier 5 clicking the faction play button "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS NOOOOOOB?" Posted ImagePosted Image

Looking forward to the new players. Hopefully we get more members in CW for IS and Clans. I'm sure most will get stomped early but will adapt and continue to play.

problem with that is the fact of tier 5 players that actually pull their weight in CW. the tier system is screwed currently. it doesn't really count the effectiveness of scouts or people who target call, or who took one for the team tanking damage so the better shots could kill the guys shooting them.

Every units has veterans and aces, but most of us are rank and file. I've been playing since closed beta, and i'm tier 5, because i do all the above things. I'm not the best shot, and i don't jump on the meta bandwagon, but I follow drop calls, pull my weight, and my unit appreciates that. blocking tier 5s from CW would be an excellent way to kill the game unless we radically change how the tier system works.

10 minutes before the servers go down. Hopefully everything goes smooth with the transition, and the baby seals don't feel any pain.

Anyone feel like we'll see the IIC mechs TODAY?

Was a bit odd that they did the livestream of them on Day 6 of the countdown, when they usually do that kind of stuff on the LAST day.

Well considering the primary factor for improving tier is winning, being tier 5 means that you are either new (with the last patch) or you don't win very much. The things Ark points out are usually the unsung heroes of winning pug teams, heck, *any* team.

I would think there are actually very few tier 5 compared to tier 4 since it requires you losing *way* more than you win.

Granted we hear there are those that strive to tier 5 for some reason, and tank games to get their, but I don't know if that really happens.

My money is on tier 5s after today being 80-90% steamers, new to the game.

prob is tiers are also related to quick matches. CW has no bearing on tiers until some kind of matchmaking actually exists there, and even then, it should be a different system.

and honestly, i'd actually say the majority of the players of the game are tier 5, either because they don't play often enough to really rise in tier, or they keep getting their butts handed to them by organized teams when they try to solo drop. honestly, we should get PGI to release a census of roughly how many players are in each bracket.

Ok, I must admit. I'm thoroughly impressed with the new Steam Launch Trailer. That was awesome. Huge props to all involved in its creation.

My favorite part was the Raven and the King Crab.

Woho! Not a bad trailer, not a bad one at all. Glad you hinted a bit of why the Clans wants to reforge the Inner Sphere. Could do with more trailers including backstory though.
