Watched the new trailer.

Blatant piece of Inner Sphere propaganda. Par for the course from PGI.

On the upside I got to watch the moldy crows get their feathers ruffled.

Hey! They got the part about Davions and LRMs right ! Posted Image

Congratulations PGI for a 85%+ rating so far. Let's hope the steamwarriors will confirm this result.

You guys screwed up the description of the Timberwolf in the Heavy Pack. Bombadil says 3 MPL but it is clearly just 3 ML. You might want to fix that.

Hate to disappoint you, but the clans were never exactly the "good guys" in Battletech. The narration is spot-on for the crusader clans.

Really enjoyed the trailer, even if the Stormcrow pilot did make me clench internally with dismay. I hadn't intended to bother with Steam MWO but a sudden need to wipe my system & start again led to me thinking "why not?".

So far, so very good. I know plenty will disagree, but the progress of MWO this last year has been astonishing, people can have their complaints, but I'm a happy Mech Warrior.

Good job PGI!

Funny you mention CoD. I just fired up BF4 last week and quite frankly, twitch FPS's feel FAR different(read: BAD) vs MWO. Loads of game modes, but in reality only 2-3 are ever used. Loads of ways to kill, but in reality it's usually just guns/c4/assault vehicles that kill. Huge maps, yet the fighting is always concentrated in a few [central] spots - only respawns disrupt that.

57GB worth of material I had to pay for, yet I like MWO better. In any case, don't let the door hit ya...

What door, fanboy? The one I used 2 years ago? bf3 and bf4 are the biggest disgrace to PC gaming in FPS category. How does it compare to arcade simulator MWO is? It doesn't at all.

Have you played any previous MechWarrior games? MWO maps are repetitive small arenas, completely absent of Battletech feel. The gameplay right now is as deep as people below 100 IQ can handle.

After open beta they started catering the game to their American playerbase that enjoys that repetitive nonsense and happily buys their "P4F" new coming mechs. And nothing any intelligent player can do about it.

Sorry to derail the thread a bit but..
Is that even legal, abuse possibilities I mean? I tried to find answers but they are a bit vague. On the other hand, PGI would surely love a user using money on two accounts. Again any point in having two, beside having different faction and or different mechs?

And yeah, this Steam launch will be exciting, hope Battletech games like MWO will draw more fans, eger to play, eager to learn the lore and all. Good luck PGI Posted Image

Clan and IS accounts are rampant from what I hear. When you can't run 2 ID's within 1 account then what the hell is one to do right? Posted Image

Don't forget, a NEW account starts from "zero". So even after doing the Training Academy and 25 Cadet Matches you will have some funds, +/- 10-12 Million CB's, with which to BUY but the need for 3 to get Elite Status will still take some actual playtime. It is not like NEW account and BOOM your driving Mastered Clan Mechs with Full Modules load-outs or anything...

I always get a chuckle from these types of posts:

"I don't like this game and I won't recommend it to others, but here I still am on the game's forums telling you all about it with my 2600 post count. I don't care if it fails, but if you need me I'll be right here, still, instead of spending my time having actual fun in a game that I do support."

Shine on you spectacular diamond!

Seeing as my problems with the game are recent as stated in my post maybe you should get some perspective, or are you intentionally ignorant? You should be asking yourself why someone that has spent as much time and money as I have on this game is no longer happy with it instead of making ignorant assumptions?Posted Image

So, I have seen the new Steam trailer. While I like the trailer.... Jesus PGI, stop showing stuff thats not in the game!
The sound effects on Forest Colony (frog croaking), that one laser sound, the crab claw sound (which is awesome) and that friggin nuke on Crimson (wtf?).

Reminds me of the other trailer were 24 mechs fought against 24 mechs on caustic.

as i said before, it's not a nuke, that's a Long tom Arty Strike, and we're probably getting that within a month along with CW phase 3, it's unlocked via doing Recon Missions, also coming with it. any sufficiently large explosion will cause a mushroom cloud. if that cloud was a mile high, it'd be a nuke. that's just a high explosive round hitting the ground going mach 20 or so :P also, how would you know there's no frogs croaking on Forest Colony? have you walked all over it and listened to every part of it? can you hear stuff like that over your mech's engine?
yes, part of it may have been put in the movie for cinematic purposes, but most of that was there either because it's forthcoming soon, or really not that important in the grand scheme of things.

I have been watching some of the new streamers on Twitch. It has been interesting to see their thoughts and reactions to the gameplay and UI and tactics, etc. I've seen many skirmishes fought in areas outside of where the veterans automatically stomp. It's refreshing.

Also, I've seen some very positive interaction between the vets and the new players both in game and on twitch. Vets have been very helpful in suggesting loadouts, using comms, and generally just being welcoming. One of the twitch streamers commented specifically about the community and how it has been extremely helpful (he then went on to reference the League of Legends community and how elitist they have been and how MWO so far has very much not been this). That was nice to hear.

So, only a day into Steam, I'd say the reactions are looking positive. There's a lot of room for this game to grow, but with a hopeful influx of new players, I hope that's what PGI needs to start moving the game forward.

Congrats!

lol

My point was: if you're so disappointed then why are you still here wasting time telling us all about it? How do you justify being a forum curmudgeon instead of using your valuable time to do something you do enjoy? Doesn't make sense to me, personally.

Metaphor: If you have a bad dining experience, do you keep going back to the same restaurant just to grumble about it?

Perhaps I do it so that maybe someday things will change and I can actually recommend the game again? Staying silent and allowing an echo chamber of yes men doesn't really help anyone in the long run. As for my time I have plenty of it to do the things I enjoy, and posting here requires very little time investment while I do other things.

I don't, but I do write reviews and give my opinion on them when I feel the need. This is not really any different.

No, the spider clearly is equiped with a flamer. this must be the buffs that they promised to the flamer.

Unlike everyone else who gets bored but sticks around?

I understand the sentiment and often take breaks from the game, but I'd like to view the steam release as a catalyst for positive change and implementation of new ideas/content. If it happens - awesome, and good for the game. If not - meh, Battletech comes out in a year and a bit (maybe sooner for those signed up for Beta access), and there's plenty else in the meantime.

Yeeeeeessss! I would laugh so hard if that was the new flamer. It would be the new meta.Posted Image

Anyway, I hope that is a longtom or something else because nukes are a war crime in the battletech universe. Seriously, a whole clan was wiped out for just being accused of using one (clan wolverine) look it up.

Hmmm... That would have been true... if you had brought up any specific bit of constructive criticism. But as far as your feedback goes it was just you saying "things changed and I'm mad and I don't care if the game fails."

You don't even mentioned what's got your knickers in a bunch. And even if you had, page 12 on a post advertising the game's steam release is hardly the best place for constructive feedback detailing your position on the game. It just doesn't further your stated goal of "maybe someday things will change."

But if you have time to waste, that's your prerogative. Works for me regardless. Either you keep playing, which supports the game. Or you stay on as a forum warrior, which provides me with giggles. Or you leave and there's one less buzzkill around. My bet is you'll keep playing, but then again this is hardly the appropriate forum for this side conversation ;D

Toodles!
