The fear of spending $60 on a mech that I might not like is driving me up the wall. I got the atlas because I like having lots of weapons, but I'm afraid that I will miss out on something if I don't get the other 3.

I have read several forums and am still undecided.

Some one give me a good argument to drop an extra $60 on the game, (knowing that my wife will probably kill me [yell] if she finds out.)

Apparently you can change your choice, so maybe you can do so after playing the beta (assuming all founders get in)

Because, at some point your team is going to be down a required mech-class, and you'll be able to fill that role immediately.

Not only can you change your choice but you also get $80 in game dollars.. so you'll be able to buy other mechs off the bat if you so choose. The devs said that the $80 would be "around 8 or so medium mechs worth".. Of course they won't be founders mechs with the 25% increase but you can still buy other mechs.. if another $60 is something you need to question yourself over then it sounds like it should be something you not do and just buy the other mechs you want when you get in the game.. that's my take on it anyway.

You get three more mechs that earn extra cash and experience if the one you choose is not to your liking after the game goes live. That is why I upgraded from Elite to Legendary.

Ohh and your name in the Credits.

1) You'll have 3 permanent extra Mech slots over an Elite player.(Founder Mechs do not eat a normal slot, they come with their own) It's like this, 4(Default)+4(Unlockable)+X(Founder Slots). So a regular guy is 4+4+0=8. An Elite is 9. A Legendary is 12. They may add more space in the future and I'd count on it as 8 is weak, but Elite/Founder owners will always have more.
2) Each of the 3 extra Mechs will all have the boost and exclusive skin. This is worth more than the 5$ you're spending on them in Legendary in my opinion.(In Elite and Legendary the Mechs are 15$ each. Normal versions are 10$ each. This means that for 5$ you're getting the skin+boost per Mech, which is in my opinion worth MORE than 5$ each)
3) Having 4 Founder Mechs means you will never be out of farming with your boost due to downtime. In other words, when 1 Mech is out of use for repairs, you can simply switch to another one. An Elite won't be able to do this because he'll only have 1 Founder Mech. If it is out of action due to being damaged/destroyed, then he is out of his boost until it is fixed. With 4 Mechs having it however, you will almost never be out of using that boost.(Or so the Devs have said)
5) Value. For 170$ listed math value you're paying 120$. But I'd argue the value is worth even more than 170$ due to the boosts and Mech slots as I have said.(The Founder Page doesn't even take the Mech exclusive bonus garage slots into account) Months after release people will realize that Legendary is worth more than they originally thought and regret having not gotten it. They will regret that decision forever over time as they pay for their Premiums and/or buy Mechs. Not me.

You can only change it up until the deal ends, and it will end come August if not sooner. Unless you get a random key before then, you'll be getting in at the same time that the ability to change choice ends and not able to "test" out Mechs before then.

Mechs=10$ each. 80$ / 10 = 8.

For me I know I'll play the hell out of this game come release so Legendary, the best deal, is worth it. If you feel the same way, then I suggest trying to fund the same choice.(I'm broke just like the rest of you but I still rallied up the funds by selling my League of Legends account. You'll find a way. You got close to 2 months to raise 120$. It's not impossible. If nothing else borrow the money from a friend or relative and pay them back later. At least you would have gotten your Legendary before the deal expired.) If you don't feel the same way and/or aren't as big a fan of MechWarrior, then perhaps you should just go with Veteran or Elite. But for me MechWarrior is that "last" genre from my childhood that I haven't seen come and go. Everything else, such as Warcraft, Starcraft, CnC, have lived out their prime and ended. MechWarrior however was dropped a decade ago and never given a chance to shine. It's the first pre-order to date that I've ever considered dropping 120$ on and will probably be the last.(I don't even flinch at Collector's Editions either. Legendary will basically be an exclusive Limited Time Collector's Edition) It's the most I've ever spent on a game before playing it and will probably be the last time I ever do so.

Unless you really suck bad and die in the first minute or two of each battle :) hehe

However, yes.. that's the thing that makes having all four worthwhile, that you can field the mechs in multiple battles one after the other. So if you die and that mech is "locked" in that other battle (I assume this is what will happen) and you can't use it till that battle is finished, you can simply jump into one of your other founder mechs and go on earning those 25% extra without missing a beat.

Mechs=10$ each. 80$ / 10 = 8.

Well.. a heavy and assault will be more and a light will be less.. they have confirmed that. The $10 was an approximation to give people some idea of what the value of the $80 will be.... we're all speculating at this point of course.. but let's say a light is somewhere around 5 to 8 MC, medium is 9 to 12 MC, heavy is 13 to 16 MC and assault is 17 to 20 MC.. or something along those lines..

Honestly, the Atlas is a good choice for a single mech founder. It's a mountain of metal and can help you make C-Bills with confidence. I would choose it as my main money maker if I only had one choice.

Those aluminum cans called scouts mechs aren't amazing at bringing home the bread on a steady basis. They tend to esplode when looked at.

It comes down to your play style though.

I caved in and upgraded because of this thought. Most regrets in life are from things that you didn't do, and I wanted to make sure that I didn't regret playing one of my favorite games from my childhood. So I caved in, got all 4 mechs, and will go sell my blood plasma to make up for it. I'll let them stab me with a needle for this game. (And I hate needles).

Bite the bullet and just go for all the mechs. You will be happy with more variety and you will also get the 3 month of added cbills when you use them.

Supporting the Development of this awesome game, nuff said.

In addition to that you will get all of the founder mechs, one of each weight class, so versatility...

I'm Elite right now, but If my next check is good though, Legendary all the way. I've been with BT/MW since I was in middle school over 15 years ago. I want this to succeed and am willing to spend the dosh to help make it so.

I wonder why there wasn't a $90 option with 2 mech offered, 2 months premium, and $60 in game cash?

EDIT*

Ignore what I just said. It should have went:
Recuit-$30/1 month/$30ingame/1 mech w/founders paint job
Veteran-$60/2 months/$60ingame/2 mechs w/founders paint job
Elite-$90/3 months/$90ingame/3 mechs w/founders paint job/name in credits
Legendary-$120/4 months/$120ingame/4 mechs/name in credits/custom paint job w/name on cockpit

Honestly it would probably be hell for the artist to do all those for legendary pilots. The only upside would be that there would be a finite number of them and when he's done, that's it. Or maybe employ Ironhawk and the gang in the repainted concept art thread. Now THAT would be AWESOME.

Ah, i'm upgrading to Elite in just days. 1 founder mech and $80 worth of cash with a rpem account is plenty.

i'll start with a Catapult, and with my 75% bonus cash buy the other class mechs i want. sure i want a atlas and catapult, but ****** me if i'm taking a jenner when i want a raven and the hunchback, yet again give me a Centurion.

Legendary would be ince, but 2 mechs i really not keen on and only 1 months extra prem account is not worth $60 in my mind when i can for $10 buy that extra month's account and use the $80 of in game cash to buy an assault, medium and scout mechs and still be $50 better off. thats 5 months of prem account extra. so thats to me is money ic an easy afford over months thatn forking out $60 extra for us cash strap folks who also have to do a motherboard and cpu upgrade for the game.

as for name being in the credits??? who the hell ever reads the credits in a game? 27 eyars i've own a pc and never once have o read the credits for a game, the end movie is fine to watch but screw the creidts, i'd rather be back in tha action. but if thats your thing then so be it.

if people have cash so easy freely to spend on 3 mechs extra they can buy with in game cash, then maybe you could swing $60 my way to make me a legend after i upgrade to elite :)
