It seems to have a huge impact on fps 10-20 depending on whats going on.
So usually my 30-40 is 45-55. Just way smoother overall.

Can you look into it please and it might allow people on lower/mid spec systems to enjoy a smoother gaming experience.

Press F9 to turn on FPS counter.
Hold right shift and F11 to turn off HUD.

Basically can PGI please focus on actually making the game function properly on our normal gaming PCs before anything else? Would be greatly appreciated...!

3 years ago I would have killed to get those 20fps back. But now I can't tell the difference between 110fps and 130fps.

The reality is that you should be upgrading your comp.

On the other hand.. the HUD/UI/Scaleform will always eat your Gigahertz needlessly unless PGI decides to find or create their own UI overlay to soften the blow.

I'm resigned to the current "poorly optimized" scenario.

They have made many optimizations over the years to make it better, and it is. However I believe the compatibility with Oculus Rift is forcing them to improve the HUD even more, or even completely re-code it. It's in the works according to Russ.

I play passably at 6-8 FPS with a high of 15 on a 3-4 year old laptop....

No sympathy.

As others have said, the game is over 3 years old. It's time to upgrade the graphics, bring back inverse kinetics, introduce better damage textures, better effects, bigger maps. MWO shouldn't constantly be stuck in the past. Its graphics were amazing when the game was new, but as newer games have been released and as PGI has actually downgraded graphics in MWO, its graphics are no longer a major selling point at all, relative to other FPS games.

This is where high end video games are currently at.

while you are right with mwo, that SC footage isn't more than a techdemo right now.

But If you want seamless travel from space to planet and back, physically correct you can play Kerbal Space Program right now! Posted Image

Or No Man's Sky. :)

You can call it a tech demo, but it's right around the corner. I could also have shown a video of absolutely seamless transition from a space battle tens of kilometers away from a space station, involving several multi-crew ships with different weapons, to the point where you can travel directly to the space station and see people inside, waving or engaging in fire fights or whatever. That's in the game right now. The point isn't to start a debate about where SC is at, the point is MWO's graphics have been left behind and it's nowhere near the top of the heap.

Exactly. Why have programmers actually do their job and optimize software if we as a society can simply throw away our hardware every 2 years and in the process dumb billion tons of toxic trash each year into our landfills.

Well having the best computer in the world 2-3 years ago turning into a meh-average computer now a days and it seems with each passing year that gap is getting larger and larger... maybe in 3 years time we need to upgrade our PC every 5 months simply to have the nice compatibility with a games latest update- let alone new games.

(PS, from judgement of steam overal statistics it's safe to assume 60% (give or take 10%) do not build or upgrade a PC and often keep a stock computer straight from the shelves. These guys don't upgrade computers, they'll most likely throw them away sooner than upgrade them... on that note: my PC can't even open up. So this thing won't be able to be upgraded any time soon... unless anyone will let me borrow a hammer? )

Upgrade a computer that can play the latest games on mid-high because the HUD on a 3 year old game is poorly optimised and runs worse.

Logics.
