That sounds like quite the accident! Would love it if you'd share that story if you're comfortable doing so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Going back to my online days in Quake I was always some form or variation of Parallax (often parallax, para.lax if it wasn't available for some reason). I always loved how it rolled off the tongue and the concept of how things in the distance seem to move more slowly felt like an apt analogy for my life. When the first newsletters/pilot signups for MWO came around, I even signed up as that under an old e-mail account. I had lost access to it by the time the Founder's program was available and rather than go through the rigamarole of trying to recover it I went with another alternative: DustySkunk

I went back to college at the age of 27 and just finished up my second engineering degree at the humble age of 32. Compared to these college kids, I was an Old Mantm. Hence, Dusty was born. The Skunk part doesn't have much of a story other than using a random animal generator online, and it fits well with my sense of humor. Posted Image

Watched the original every Saturday when i was a kid, but since then meh. Daleks are "exterminate".

Is the new one any good? Still think the original theme song is the best.

Way back in the days of me starting playing multiplayer fps, i thought it was clever to call myself Delete but i never could because it was always taken(great imagination eh). Then the so called l33t speak got popular and i created DAYLEET. I shall forever be dismissed as a 12 yearold with an all caps l33t name lol. Still proud that i have never once seen that name anywhere else.

Did you try Dl33t? Because even though its kind of outdated l33t speak it works on two levels.

I was playing a game of GURPS and my character ran a detective agency that was wedged in between a radio station (980 The Beast) and a strip joint. No one could figure out where the agency was but they did know where the radio station and strip join were. So all my business cards said, "Hexenhammer. 668 Neighbor of the Beast." on them.

As far as the name itself, Wikipedia explains it best: "The Malleus Maleficarum (commonly rendered into English as "Hammer of [the] Witches";[ Der Hexenhammer in German) is a treatise on the prosecution of witches, written in 1486 by Heinrich Kramer".

Sure!

We were in the Bahrain (i think spelling is correct) area of the mideast and flying nightops training. Basically we were flying on Night vision goggles and instruments 20 feet off the deck at 60knots or so in a CH46-E chopper. The only offense we have is a.50 cal MG mounted in the door. I'm the door gunner and I see flashes of light as someone shooting at us as we crest this hill and drop into this valley.

I got on comms and relayed this to my pilot who told me to "light them up" with a little suppression fire.

Well...........

Me being 20 years old, I took that to mean, lay on the trigger and go cyclic lol

Needless to say, a few thousand rounds later and after we made a high speed pass through the valley, there wre several hundred dead sheep and one VERY pissed off sheep herder lol
We apparently scared his sheep when we came into the valley and he was shooting in the air to warn us off.

Moral of the story?
Don't shoot at Marines lol :P

That's how I almost wound up with that callsign though

My name is reference to all those who so proudly display their hair shirts and wave their good deeds about for all to see. Look at me! Look at my sacrifices! Look how selfless and noble I am. Fool! What reward can you possibly hope to gain other than smug self satisfaction?

It is also a condemnation of all who scream persecution when they've spent their entire lives persecuting people who are different from them, people who don't conform to what they/their god/their religion/culture/whatever says is "correct."

Further it is a reminder to not allow myself to become like those who harmed me and to be a better man than they could ever be.

My fav character is always been Natasha.

So, despite I played MW roleplay very very few times back in the days, I chose to be a Nat sibko.

Natasha, Aleksandr, Kerensky, etc., are all russian names, so I chose the russian version of my own real name, so Stefka.

Every mechwarrior game I chose different "nick".... only with MWO I decided to bring back that true name, which has been my first.

When I was young I discovered a huge passion for classical music, and in particular for requiem. A requiem is a bit of liturgical music to be played at funeral in the catholic tradition, and is a Mass for the dead. The fascinating thing for me about requiems is that, as music, they begin with a common latin text -- and each composer brings his own interpretation to it. The words say the same thing, but the music can be so diametrically different, as different as our own perspectives on death as individuals and as a culture.

For example:

Contrasted with:

And I chose Kyrie based on my fascination with the "Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison" segment of the Requiem Mass; compare say Mozart's with Faure's.
