I would be willing to pay a typical $60 for this game in the first place. I am a little tired of all the typical MMO and FPS games we have had lately and have been feeling eager for something different this summer. The first new Mechwarrior game in over a decade? I am in. So when the founders offers were first announced that you could buy a $30 or $60 pack, I planned to get the elite pack. But when they actually went on sale and the Legendary pack was added, I decided to go ahead and splurge. I am normally pretty shrewd with my money, but once or twice a year I am willing to blow a little extra for something. For all the stuff the founder's packs offer, the biggest selling point for me was the idea that I would get to play the game sooner.

Beyond this however, I have no plans to spend anymore money here. I will consider buying the Razer Artemis, if it's not too far off down the road.

I've spent more money on things more stupid, including other videogames. Judging by the way the developers behave, they seem determined to make this the best MW yet and seem to be able to do so eventually. 120$ is well worth an investment, to me.

Anyone that has play mechwarrior or has done the virtual reality combat has been waiting for this for a long time. Playing with groups of people rather than an AI is always a preferable because it gives more variety. With mechanical lab, that's a n added bonus.

I've been buying games before I've ever played a single bit of them for well over a decade. This is not really any different aside from the fact that I'm essentially going 'look i was going to probably spend this much on the game anyways so i'll just spend it now'.

Never pre-ordered a game before? I don't feel this is any different. I am rolling the dice that I'll like it.

However i understand if you buy the founders thing you get stuff and access but are you sure its worth it before even playing the game? In my opinion its like getting married before going on your first blind date.. she could be fat she could be a hill billy missing teeth could even not even be a woman who knows. So what made you confident in your purchase?

Pure blind faith and a love of battletech made me want to contribute and see that this products reaches the market... after all I have been dreaming of a game like this for a very long time.

I bought it because I've been a fan of Mechwarrior for as long as I can remember and the look of the game from everything I see mirrors Multiplayer Battletech: 3025 and I LOVED that game.

At this point I consider it a bit like a kickstarter campaign - I can afford $60 to help launch a game that I'm really excited about.

Hmm, there seems to be two distinct camps here. There is the younger generation which may or may not have the $30-$120 to invest in a game and to an extent expects things to be free. The other group seems to be those that have had an appreciation for the MechWarrior/BattleTech universe since the other generation was born and can confidently invest the $30-$120 in an as yet unreleased product in order to support it's creators.

I think the distinction is simpler:

- I'm in school. I'm always short on cash.
- I have a job. I can pay some money to support my hobbies without breaking the bank.

Except that we have seen her picture, and she is damn sexy, and we've talked to her and she sounds cooler than anyone else we know, plus she's famous.

The only catch is we haven't had sex with her yet.

Now that sounds crazy for a marriage, but hey, some people do that stuff...

This is just a days work so I'll take my chances.

Dear OP,

I don't like blind dates, blind internet dates so therefore I don't blind marriage and thats horrible analogy to blind marriage. At least you get somebody that will love you and do the dishes/laundry with the latter.

I imagine a new wife looking at her husband and say "But in my country the husband does the dishes and cooks! That's why I married you!"

1) I bought every MW game that came out prior to this one including MechCommander and Heavy Gear.
2) The founders program is a one time offer and if the game is 'kick ***" it will be a great investment. If not then it (the investment) will be the similar to many other games that didn't work out.
3) I understand the economics of commercial software deveolpment (I was a developer myself). The company needs to be profitable and to be able to improve the game to equal to what we all want. That takes up-front capital.
4) No other way to get the founders mechs. Similar to what you get when completing the training course in WoT, they will be great C-Bill earners.
5) There are more reasons, but this is enough for me.

You may as well ask this question to any person who has ever stood in line for a midnight release.

I think the fact that the dev's put out a founders option showed how much faith they have in what they're doing. If the game is terrible and people walk away in droves, it would be a huge hit to their reputation and probably affect anything they do in the future.

Sure, the above scenario may happen. But, I bet $120 it won't.

I've always gotten into MMO's a couple years after release and seen all the folks with the cool stuff that I'll never get.

It'll be nice to drop that founders mech into a battle a couple years from now, and stand out.

That, and 120 bucks isn't THAT big a deal. (I spend that much on a lunch with my family)
