I beta tested SWTOR and loved the game until it hit its last few builds, but even then i was hopeful that once it was released they would tweak the balane of the Jedi knights back into balance, So i payed 120 pounds for the collectors edition of that game. Sadly the jedi knight (arguably) stayed the weakest class in the game. and i just stopped playing. So spending 80 pounds on MWO was easy i have faith this will be a good game, and if it doesnt turn out to be all i hoped for atleast i did my best to support it.

I've always been a mechwarrior and Battletech fan but this was essentially a purchase on the fact that I work a lot and have limited playtime - i NEED those +25% to get somewhere.

A fair number of reasons why I invested in the founders program:

1) My friends and I play tabletop battletech weekly, so this is our game of the year pretty much.

2) My friends bought into the founders program so if I want to play the game when they get in, then I better buy some level of the founders package too.

3) I asked myself "are any of these mechs gonna end up in my mech bay anyway?" I love the Atlas battlemech, so, since I knew I was gonna end up buying an Atlas anyway, I felt it was a really good deal to get a free mech bay slot with a limited edition Atlas that has a lifetime +25% C-Bill buff.

4) We can all pretty much claim we want to support PGI and the MWO development. I've dreamed of such a beautiful sim and often when I'm playing tabletop, I remember these dreams. well, this is a dream come true. Gotta support your dreams.

5) I've made enough from Diablo 3 already that the $60 I spent was 100% free money.

Played every PC version of the Batteltech Universe and this has been a long time coming, and you can spend $120 going out for a night on the town.

For me personally, I've been a big fan of Mechwarrior since MW2 when I first played. And I think the devs deserve a little thank you for bringing back a franchise that some people thought was dead. Not to mention the perks that come with the pack but those are just a bonus.

Same reason I would book a flight to a holiday destination where I've never been before. If you've read the brochures and websites and seen that it's in the same general place as your previous favourite holidays, but looks a whole lot prettier with more to do then it's a no-brainer.

The example above is just a holiday, and you'd probably pay a lot more than $120 to go somewhere nice for a week. This game will hopefully last for many years, and we've been waiting for it to arrive for 10 years already.

If the game turns out to be terrible in some unforseen way, we will all be crushingly disappointed anyway, having spent some money on it will be the least of the things to be annoyed about because we might be looking at another 10 years (if ever) before another Mechwarrior game gets made.

But if it turns out well, I have bonus mechs and extra mechbays to use, plus a whole load of game cash and the satisfaction of knowing that I helped to support the creation of a great classic game.

Nearly every retail game I have bought for the last 25 years I bought without playing it first. Here I have a franchise that I have loved for at least that long. To give support to a game and franchise like this is a no brainer. I want it to succeed and I want to play. So it is win - win for me !

You suggest that a fat, hill billy missing teeth who has a questionable genetic makeup is not desireable?
:D Ni!

Others have touched on it, pre-ordering is a staple in the gaming industry and very few intellectual properties offer this depth of user commitment and fictional and historical background.

Plus the "bonuses" for coming on early seem to be pretty good considering usually on console games you only get some free skins or an extra player or a level unlocked. Yes, I realize console distribution has different costs associated with it and this is a free to play environment.

Haha easy.. It's Mechwarrior. I'm getting 4 never again available mechs, $80 in game credit(would've spent it anyways) so I'm actually paying $40 IMO. Plus 3 months prem, oh and I'll be playing on August 7th if not before. So where is there really a question? If your new to the Mechwarrior genre, there's plenty of media to get you an idea why many pilots and myself have shelled out $120 very well spent $.

I am a old fan of the mechwarrior/battletech universe. Novels, shows, rpg game table top and computer. If the big wigs know people will be willing to spend money for this type of game....more wil be produced. Money talks. If thigs go very..very..very well.....mechwarrior/battletech: Live action movie with a few million dollars on special effects..:D *dreams*

Becasue I have loved battletech for over 20 years and trust that these guys will use the many technological advances that occured in the last two decades to put out a quality product that brings me closer to my dream of being an actual mechwarrior!!

From the trailers, from the interviews, from the Q&A, from the brand, I've learned enough to make me supremely confident.

I loved the MechWarrior games, and this was an opportunity to get on board at the ground level and offer my support. This is exactly the sort of game that I've been wanting to play for years. There's so much potential, that frankly it's damn exciting.

Besides, becoming a Founder was a great deal in terms of getting quite a bit of bang for your buck.

Not to mention, ATLAS! :D

Well I bought mine due to several factors as always enjoyed the TT battletech and still have some of original boxes around somewhere :D All the screenshots and posts by the devs and videos can see this game should be a blast of fun.
The biggest reason is due to how much more friendly the dev's are here and how much more mature the playerbase seems here and want the company to succeed and granted just one person buying a founders doesnt mean much but when you have alot of people buying it as well it gives the company a sense of satisfaction as they see we really do want thier product and want to help them succeed.

Well, I recently bought an old CD copy of Mechwarrior 2 Mercs and still play that game, so I figure it's worth putting some money into a game I wish to support. I also really wanted a cool looking Catapult, since I've had a love affair with Catapults as long as I've played the game.

I'm used to paying for a product I use, I see this like any other preorder.
