I bought Elite because I loved past MechWarrior games and I know they need cash, plus $60 is what you would pay for a new computer game anyways. I upgraded to Legendary because I had the money and with the four Founders Mechs I will still have 4 open mech bays.

To all those who want to see the game and have to wait until its in open release, you're welcome. I'm sure the infux of cash from the Founders helped make it so you could play the game without spending a dime.

I know the thought process behind not paying until you can see what it is, but I have trust in the Devs and will be extremly happy just to be in a Mech going "Pew Pew Pew Pew" again.

I've reached my quota for "positive" votes for the day, this thread needs more :D

I wanted Founders purely for the mechs. If you think about it the percentage of Founders is less than 10% and will only get lower as more people sign up. In a year or so having the unique Founder mech to show off will be a very nice perk.

I may be echoing sentiments already expressed by others, but I'd like to add my two cents worth. I see this as an investment. I considered how much I'd spent over the last several years (how long ago did DAoC come out?) on games that didn't hold my interest. I'm not currently paying for a game and decided that I would throw my support behind MW:O. My "down payment", if you will, is to help the company have the operating funds they need to continue working on the game. If the game never comes out ( Oh Lord, please don't let that happen! Amen.) I've lost slightly less than I would have on ten months in WoW or SW:TOR, etc, etc.

On the other hand, when the game comes out - I'll be playing a game online that I've enjoyed since I drew my first paper maps all those years ago. Will I get my butt kicked in MW:O - you betcha. But I'm playing to have fun and to me, that's what it's all about.

I bought it to support the development. The developers have been available and answer what they can. I like supporting this type of development and I have been hoping for the MPBT : Solaris experience since,.. well MPBT : Solaris.

When the 3015 Mechwarrior game was announced I was prepared to buy it no matter what.

Since we ended up getting a free game instead, I decided to give them the price of a full retail game - if this was a Kickstarter project I'd have done the same. The founder's stuff just happened to be a convenient way to give them 60 bucks.

Note that this game is a big step for me, who has always hated F2P games and the community they attract. The concept of paying for ingame advantages in ANY way has always bothered me, even stuff like bonus exp and money. However I appreciate that they don't want to let people straight up buy things unattainable by free players, which was my main problem with many F2P games run by unscrupulous developers. Their model has a common sense feel to it - free players generally would have more time than money to spend in the game and vice versa. And while I'd prefer a normal retail title this kind of game seems like it'd have a much larger playerbase and longer lifetime. In terms of community I think Battletech attracts a different sort of player than your average League of Legends kid - look at any age poll on this forum to see what I mean.

Also, early access will be nice. And I didn't give them money on pure blind faith, I've done my research.

so im just wondering what made you guy buy a founders pack before you even tried the game ive played plenty of the series but a mmo is a completely different animal. However i understand if you buy the founders thing you get stuff and access but are you sure its worth it before even playing the game? In my opinion its like getting married before going on your first blind date.. she could be fat she could be a hill billy missing teeth could even not even be a woman who knows. So what made you confident in your purchase?

I'm not confident, but I'll pick up the tab for dinner on the first date regardless of how it goes. 'Cause gentleman.

Keep in mind, all the people in the beta HAVE tried the game. They're just not allowed to say they have. So perhaps a lot of people dropping $120 are like "yeah, this is worth it!"

I've bought a $120 package (under a different name, since we're not allowed name changes -.-:D. I'm doing it because everything I've seen looks amazing, and the developers are not only passionate about MechWarrior and BattleTech, they're also passionate about studying Free to Play economic models and only imitating the best ones.

Plus, the $120 package gets me over $120 worth of content, sooooo... since I plan to play this for a LONG time (I'd still play MW3 if it ran on my computer :) Apparently, if you have a monitor with 59Hz instead of 60Hz, the physics screws up. Mechs start trampolining, and tanks fly straight up and hit the skybox), and I make enough money to buy stuff, I figure why not spend my money NOW? Get some bonuses out of it?

My philosophy is to always vote on games with my wallet. I wouldn't pay $0.10 for half of the ***** that goes onto the market these days. MechWarrior Online, with the passion these devs are putting in? If they had a $200 option, I'd seriously consider it.

I paid the $120 for the Legendary Founders pack because Ive been playing RPGs since 1980 (AD&D) and the first time I picked up the mechwarrior rules I was hooked. Along with table top and RPGs Ive played almost every MMO that has come along. This allows me to combine the two into one, hence the best of both worlds for me. Plus I am finally at a point in my life where I have the financial freedom to drop $120 on something that I know will bring me years of joy. Finally the math just works. Using WOW as an example: $49.99 retail to start plus $14.99 a month for about 5 years = just under $1000. Is $120 really that much to ask?

Like most people i've bought into the founders because i want to support a great game and help make it better. I have played Mechwarrior for a long time now from clicks to the computer games. Want to get into battletech but i cant find anyone in my area, but I really enjoy it lore wise and would love to be a part of this game's experience.

Because, I had the money to burn and if it helps them make a better game, so be it... and for that they give me purks in return... As for it being good or not... It has to be 100 times better then the Japanese Mecha games I have been playing...

I've been waiting for this game forever. It looked beautiful and the devs seem to respond very well to the community. I loved the idea of role warfare and an ongoing universe.

Thrikreen made me buy it. Blame him.
He reminded me about it, and made me think the sale could end soon, so as soon as I had the money, I bought it >.>
Don't regret it, though.

Dear OP,

I don't like blind dates, blind internet dates so therefore I don't blind marriage and thats horrible analogy to blind marriage. At least you get somebody that will love you and do the dishes/laundry with the latter.

I have been buying games before playing for almost 20 years now. While 120 is more than I usually spend on a game, I have also gotten pickier about games I have played, and so I am spending less on games overall than I used to. FOr year I have thought that Mechwarrior/battletech is one of the best MMO potentials out there, and jumped at the chance to play. The devs have been awesome, and seem to want to make this specific game so that they can play it. The fact that the get paid to do so seems like a bonus for them, Which further raises my optimism. Finally the fanbase here has been great, not the whing I have seen on other game forums. I expect this to be the best game I have played yet, and nothing from the videos to the devs discussions have dissuaded that.

Hmm, there seems to be two distinct camps here. There is the younger generation which may or may not have the $30-$120 to invest in a game and to an extent expects things to be free. The other group seems to be those that have had an appreciation for the MechWarrior/BattleTech universe since the other generation was born and can confidently invest the $30-$120 in an as yet unreleased product in order to support it's creators.
