Well there's the usual part where I have been a player of this since playing on the table top. Really loved any moment where I can be a pilot with a video game. I woulda gotten the game anyways when it was released but see I've always been a dedicated Inner Sphere player...specifically Steiner. I've stubbornly refused to touch clan tech in any version. Anyways, I'm also a shameless "wallet warrior" since I got money to burn and lots of spare time on this isolated Island in the cold North of Canada so I'll fit in with the Steiner style quite well $$$$

I've mentioned this in another thread, but I just want to support the rebirth of the franchise. They were always my favorite games and I've been itching for another since MW4. I've bought all of MW4 twice (lost the disks in a move) and I want more than just MWO, I want to see this be successful enough to back more WM universe games in the future.

I have played since the 1st edition table-top and I've owned all the PC games. No sense in jumping ship now that it's getting good again. :P

I agree with other posters on this topic - I'm signing up for a founders package both because I expect I'll be spending this much on the game anyway since I've been a huge fan of MechWarrior since I was 10, and because it is essentially voting with my wallet. I've been dying for another successful MechWarrior game for close to a decade, and can't wait to see how this one plays out.

At best: OMFG AWESOME BT UNIVERSE 10 YR OLD DREAM BECOMES REAL.

At worst: ... world of tanks.

Cant go wrong with either.
*as someone who was eyeing MWO, and then picked up WOT.... I mean, they CANT screw up worst than WOT...

and yes, from what I seen of what they put out. it needs a lot of polishing, but they do seem to have people who care about BT. so, I trust them enough to invest in them.

I've played alot of MW4, and therefore wanted to support, and show intreset. I chose the cheapest one, because if for some reason i don't like the game, 30$ is not going to ruin me, and remember you get ingame currency for 40$ (actually more then you paid!).
The early access, did kind of light up and whisper "buy me! Buy me!"

I've got $ to spend and I have high hopes for this game. I've spent far more on WoT....

The decision between elite and legendary was a tough one - I really wanted to 4 mechs, but I still don't get it - are they exclusive or we just get them earlier....

They needed to reboot the series, and I thought I'd do my part in helping them.

Not a Founder till a week from Wed. 120$ is less then I take with me to the casino in 2 weeks  so I'll just not go this next time :P

and I've already invested over 5k$ over the years in BT tiltes and such for $120 to bother me.

Firstly, I've played MW:LL.. it's good but it's not enough (for various reasons).. but that gave me evidence that I still love this franchise. Secondly, I've seen a bunch of screenshots and game play videos to know that it is inline with what I am expecting the next MW game to "look" and "feel" like. Thirdly, I've spent oodles of cash on other "free to play" games in the past and I just know that if I didn't get the founder's pack, that I would regret it. I know I will spend money later.. so I preferred to spend that money now and get a couple of extra things on top of what I would have spent money on.. it really comes down to that as the final decision maker for me.. that I would have spent money anyway.

Lastly.. if this had been a retail box.. it would have cost at least as much as the Elite pack did.. and with the price gouging that happens in Australia, it would have most likely been closer to $100. For a collector's edition, which is kind of what I see the Legendary pack as, $120 would be about what I would have had to pay in a retail store in Australia (of course anyone with half a brain will simply import games.. but the point is that if it were retail, it would have been roughly $120 anyway)

Oh thank god I'm not the only one.

:)

And to the OP - Eh, it's $120. For something that has the potential to be awesome. If I worked for minimum wage and that was serious money, I wouldn't have. As it is, I started playing BattleTech as a kid in the '80s when it was a board game and have loved it since day one. Now I'm all grown up, have a career, and plenty of disposable income. Getting in on this early with all the perks as well as supporting Piranha? Why not.

As a side note, some of us ancient ones played online on GEnie before the interwebs ... and paid by the hour. :o

Sense Mechwarrior 2 and even before that I was a mech fan for a long time, after mechwarrior 4 came out and Microsoft came out with 'arcade' mechassault, I felt the whole mech sim drop out. There were some mech games but nothing like MW. When I seen the trailer of the warhammer coming out to try to fight toe to toe against and atlas....I wanted that game, HG try to denie me the game, but with MWO I feel this will do.

I gave my money for
Support of this game and hope to see it through it fruition.
As an Investment for a fun game.
For a catapult :3
For the early start, if it works as said, my friends are lining up to set up our merc outfit.
The starting cash, RW ingame currency means I can get a few upgrades to start messing with my cata...maybe there is a Mad cat skin in the future >.> <.<

That also being said, if this game works and is fun...I will need a true Mech controller (looks at the Razer)

I have been waiting for over a decade for a new MW game... even if the game flops, I wanted the fine folks at PGI to know that their efforts are appreciated.

I've been immersed in the battletech universe for 15 years now. $120 is a pittance if it lets them develop a quality Mechwarrior game and hopefully it lets them make a single player game in the near future. The in game bonus certainly doesn't hurt...

To the OP, yes you're absolutely right, it's a gamble. Whether you want to take it or not, is completely a matter of how easily you can swallow a $30-$60-$120 loss.

Oh yes they can. And I bet they will in one area or another. More specifically, I bet on them:

a) failing to properly limit the data flow to the client side, exposing the game to various hacks;
b ) failing to add enough incentive for players to spend money, leading to the game's financial decline and subsequent shift to an extreme p2w model in an attempt at quick recovery.

As much as some of you want to paint WoT as the worst game ever, it's a pretty damn good and well thought out design. Matching that is no easy task in itself.

Great question. I am assuming it is similar to World of Tanks, but with a bit of a deeper Mechwarrior universe tied in. So that is what really grabbed my attention, even more than a MW5 (even though I would still buy).

With that said, I can understand the benefits of the Founder Mechs and their bonus Cbill and availableness. In World of Tanks a similar package was offered and I got the Tier 8 Heavy, this package greatly enhanced my grinding speed. The tank was OP because no one obviously unlocked the other tier 8 tanks.

Add in the game currency and premium time and I think it is a good value, not too mention early access.

to the original poster have you ever playered MegaMek? are you registered for the MW tactics game when it comes out? have you played on the mmo versions of the other mw games? if your answering no then your not that much of a fan of mw universe and maybe buying founders legendry isnt right for you , but for 30 dollars the lowest pack is very good value as i spend more than that to fuel my car for two days!

this game so far has cost me 80pounds stirling for legendry and 440 pounds for a new gaming rig spec around the recommended hardware , and im not thinking "Gawd i hope its worth it" i just know it will be

I got founder for several reasons :
  • I play WOT and kick myself – often – that I did not just drop a bundle of cash on a Lowe on day 1. I see founders and the 4 bonus mechs to be the equivalent of that. Good platforms with a bonus to cash.
  • Back the devs for making such a great game – the equivalent of a kickstarter.
  • How do I know it is going to be a great game ? I don’t – but I have faith :)

so im just wondering what made you guy buy a founders pack before you even tried the game ive played plenty of the series but a mmo is a completely different animal. However i understand if you buy the founders thing you get stuff and access but are you sure its worth it before even playing the game? In my opinion its like getting married before going on your first blind date.. she could be fat she could be a hill billy missing teeth could even not even be a woman who knows. So what made you confident in your purchase?

One reason, and one reason only: I want PGI to know that I support Battletech and Mechwarrior still, after all these years. I want them to know that what I've seen of their product has impressed me, and I choose to vote with my dollars. Plus, this is F2P, which is the new way, its 2012 and the game will cost you nothing, so when will I vote with my dollars if not now? I get where you're coming from (not enough to read 11 pages, but enough to toss in another opinion)
