Founders what is your reasoning?

I'd have preferred to pick the variant of the mech / mechs I ended up with....
I'd also have preferred a really good 20+ hour story based single player or co-op game in some ways - but I can only hope that we can find a way to incorporate a story into the missions - not just a free for all slug fest.. well not a free for all every time anyway.
I'd really like a separate team based communications channel - I'm hoping that something like vent will work if something like vent isn't in the game....
The point being that when you purchase a Pre Order you are also knowingly purchasing a lot of unknowns.... but that's part of the whole pre order thing...

And without these guys there is a good chance we may not have gotten another MW game with the state the industry is currently in. So really its just a way of saying thanks for giving what so many of us have been asking for for a very long time.

Blind date is a bad analogy. We know exactly what we are getting:
Legendary is 4 mechs ($10-20 each + priceless lifetime CB bonus), 4 extra garage slots ($5-10 each), $80 mech credits which can turn into 8 months of premium and another 3 months of premium. So for either $60 $120 you could just have paid for 11 months of premium (10 if elite) and all the rest of the stuff is FREE!
And because this is basically going to be the better world of tanks (no pay to win).

I'm a long time Mechwarrior fan. I didn't start as early as many others with tabletop or anything, I never got to play tabletop. I started with Netmech somewhere around '95-'97 (?), while back ago for me. I joined a clan (Clan Wolf) and from that moment on have carried the fondest of memories of the Mechwarrior games. I played the following Mechwarrior titles and started reading the books and fell in love with the universe. So the day came when Microsoft got thier hands on the license and, in my opinion, it all went to hell. 10 years later this company picks up the title and starts working passionately on the newest title. For me, this is the oppurtunity for Mechwarrior to be what it once was. Yes, it is not released yet, I cannot know what's in store. I can only judge based released media and developer interaction with the community. So why did I get founders? In game benefits aside, I want to help this company in any way that I can, as I'm sure many others do, to make this title as successful a Mechwarrior game as possible. For that dream, they have my $120. Hope this helps.

The only con this far, is if I can do well enough against the players who live and breathe this amazing universe. I'll never aim for best, I aim for fun, so I take my chances on legendary and hope it will be an investment.
You'll do just fine, my good man. If you have a real passion for the BT Universe, you'll be quite alright in terms of actual warfare. That passion that springs forth will indeed be your motivator to become a better Mechwarrior. You'll see =)

Someone else earlier made a _very_ good point. It's a lot like pre-ordering. You really don't get much about the game itself, but I've pre-ordered the Final Fantasy series and Prince of Persia series without giving it a second thought because of how much I've enjoyed the last ones. Have I been burned on that before? Yes. Will I again? Probably. But for the most part, I've had good experiences.
Finally, there's a lot of perks to it that makes it worth paying the increased cost _to me_. The extra xp, the extra c-bills, and the four extra mechs were well worth the cost. It might suck, and I might be out of $120 because the game doesn't live up to my expectations, but it's a gamble I'm willing to take because what could be seems like a good deal.

And what exactly makes you think MW:O beeing a MMO? It's certainly not a Massively Multiplayer Online Game.
It's more like a FPS/Simulation with some RPG/Customization Features added.

pretty much the same amount on any AAA title and still loose out and not like it. SWTOR
cost me more because my wife got a box too, we played one or two months, didn't like it.
And if you're been waiting for a MWO to release, Hell ya, go founders and support it. if you don't like
it, you're out of the amount of a box at the least, most, box + 3 months sub time. No worse than any other
game I've gambled on, .... and it's MECHWARRIOR !!!

This. When I first heard of the game I thought it was another cash grab my Microsoft to milk a franchise they had run into the ground. Then I found out that it the IP was licensed not from Microsoft, but from Smith & Tinker. S&T is headed by Jordan Weisman, the man who founded the FASA Corporation. FASA, of course, being the original company that created Battletech.
Pedigree counts. The moment I realized this my wallet was open and the credit card was on the table. Same with the Shadowrun Kickstarter earlier this year. I want S&T, and Pirhana Games, to succeed. I want the Mechwarrior that I poured countless hours into to rise from the ashes of Microsoft like a phoenix.
The only press release that would have taken my money faster is if Julian Gollop announced he was making a new X-Com game.
TL;DR: Jordan Weisman is involved, shut up and take my money.

When did demos become so popular to begin with, I saw a few videos, was a fan of Mechwarrior/Battletech because of this sweet pod thing at D&B they used to have, along with the PC games, so I was all like "why not"
Back when the N64 was up to date, I would buy Mario 64 not knowing I was getting into, or buy Battlezone (hell yeah man, battlezone) and just hope, based off the cover, that I'd made a good investment (of my dad's wallet of course!), and you know what, I think when it comes to Founders, its about that gut feeling; it's like investing, you just hope its good, and be pleasantly surprised when it is, or grow to be thriftier when it isnt
tl;dr follow your gut! if you're not a "hardcore fan of the Battletech universe" It's just not for you and you can play the free game for free when it comes out(if or when you get approved)
