There is no other objective measure for why a game should "matter" in MWO, though. As far as I'm concerned, if you are going to try to argue why any game should matter to the community on a broad scale, then the objective truths take precedence over personal pleasures.

it's not so much caring about stats as having a run of really crappy games because of players like this for me personally. Non-participation is a violation of the TOS and reportable. Suiciding is against the TOS and is reportable. AFKing is against the TOS and reportable.

Most folks play games that pit one team against the other to have fun and hopefully win. Winning isn't everything, but trying hard or your best is to most people. Some folks strive to improve personally in the game, some folks drink beer and just want to make as much dakka as possible.

I have no problem with the way anyone plays so long as they at least attempt to win, since not attempting is reportable sandpit's argument is valid.

If he wants to ignore folks that 'don't care' that is absolutely his prerogative too... who are we to say he can't?

I've been a bit more apt to report folks lately without saying anything at all in chat. Hopefully they actually do something about folks who are habitual offenders, but we'll see.

I'm talking about a specific type of scummy player that does borderline violate ToS, just not enough, and not often enough to get on PGI's radar. Keep suggesting anything else and you're very wrong and completely misunderstanding, misrepresenting, and/or trying to spin something I said.
That's a little harsher sounding in text that it's meant to be, but I've twice now specifically pointed out the type of player behavior I'm talking about so please stop with the "Yea, but what about the (insert completely off the wall example of "builds" that was never even hinted at in the OP)" because that's never what was said.

I used to tell some people to relax and that it was just a PUG/Pub match. Just one match out of many, and many more to come, and that the Match Maker giveth, and the Match Maker taketh away..

But the only time I said it was because some guy was flipping out over Voip cussing and insulting everyone on the team. Carrying on about how they all are basically garbage. Not them of course. Never them

I dont do that any more though because I have turned off all of my in game chat. All chat, Team chat, Lance chat, and Voip.

I turned them all off because I got tired of hearing of that kind of garbage.

People becoming irate over one single pug match loss as if the team (of which they are a part of) has cost them (personally) some kind of championship title or something.

Not something I have to listen to any more though thanks to in game options.
