It's nice to have a mix of maps imo. Some with cover, some with barren wastes and a few hills.
I just hope the replacement map isn't bog with snow.

Could tunnel out the mountain to make a HPG-like theta zone and increase the size of the playable field without increasing the size of the map. Add mountains or a wall to the back side of the top of the mountain so if you set up there retreat isn't a viable option - and effectively guarding the back base/cap points isn't either.
Little more hill or clutter cover down past the ramp so the team from that side can't easily be spotted without actual scouting to determine which direction they are moving.
Make holding the mountain become a huge risk for loss, and utilize the rest of that map which is quite nicely laid out.
Don't get rid of the map though. Use it, if nothing else it would be a fantastic CW map to add a progression before Boreal.

Take Alpine for a spin in the editor and flatten out the entire map especially around the tryhard mountain area, leaving most of the rolling hills intact. Reduce the chance of Alpine appearing in the rotation in favor of the "replacement" map, but leave it as an option. I know they said they experimented with something like this before but were unsatisfied with the result; this is still the most economical way to make it more fair and avoid completely throwing away all the work and funds that were put into it.
If nothing else, why not repurpose Alpine into a CW map?
Oh yeah,

From a pure reward point of view, a 0:0 draw pays more than a 12:0 loss.
(I´m not counting the time invested (and the boredom) which, of course, isn´t really correct, I know that)
That being said, I had a few matches on Alpine lately, where we didn´t fight the guys on the top and not _once_ did the match end in a draw.
The other guys _always_ came down to fight us (doesn´t mean we always won, but we _didn´t_ fight them while at on the top)

Thinking about how to fix this, beyond just spawns:
#1 Limit the map. It's already massive so just eliminate the B6 to F9 rectangle. Adjust spawns accordingly
#2 East/West very wide land bridge at E7/F7 with North/South tunnel or cave underneath. Main mountain is no longer accessible from E7/F7 on the right side of the map, you have to climb from D8 or F8. Spawns can remain mostly unchanged, but travel time for the blues to the top of the mountain is longer. Maybe add some ice block boulder cover in E5/E6.

How can you possibly be attached to this map when you haven't even seen polar highlands yet. I havent. I heard its better though. If it sucks maybe we can get alpine back, if its better, I don't ever want to see alpine again.

Because I do not think there's an issue with Alpine as it sits. Not the map's fault nobody else tries different tactics.
Because I also think more maps is better overall.

Maps could be designed to dictate tactics but we always get one big landmark per map and people death-ball to it.

Other babies were ok with removing graphic options, glow, cockpit glass, inverse kinematics, and Knockdowns all things I wanted to stay.
So bye bye crap map you won't be missed they might be able to bring it back soon™ After the list above gets fixed we don't have time for alpine. This is the general response I receive from the community so I will throw the "Other stuff is more important" card like everyone else!
Thanks again #KILLALPINE2016

It's entirely the map's fault nobody tries different tactics.
There are plenty of places to fight on the map, but none are as good as that mountain. If you give it up, you basically throw the match. In other words, there are many options, but only one of them really means anything. That's bad design in a nutshell, and i'm telling you this from experience.

I will try to update the Road map when I can but I was wrong - Alpine was always going to stay in rotation, I had old information. It stays

This is not true. The mountain is a mediocre position, especially once the opfor is entrenched. The entire southern portion of the map is actually BETTER for fighting, and out of reach, effectively of Candy Mountain Snipers.
The problem is players can't think past "the big visible terrain feature".
It is a Player issue, not a map issue.
