I tried it, and it didnt seem to do anything for MWO...however, I tried it with an old game (Lotro - very old engine), and I gained 60FPS. I can't even really believe it...it's such a change that I'm thinking I did something else different that is causing the big change, but I can't think of anything else.

I think that newer games that can utilize Win 10 newer timer system won't benefit, but those written long before Win 10, maybe written specifically with HPET in mind can benefit greatly.

HPET will most likely benefit games that are CPU intensive like older games.

Yep, for me after running it this entire week, mostly what I'm getting out of it is just better average FPS.

Not getting a huge gain from having it enabled now, just smoother gameplay overall, better transitions between FPS drops, and not as low bottom fps hits.

Microstutter seems to be mostly gone, few random events here and there, but its a noticeable improvement for me.

Yeah, for me it just gives me more stable FPS (less drops), which is still good.

System Specs:

CPU: I7 4790K @ 4.5Ghz
MoBo: Asrock Extreme 6 Z97
GPU: Gigabyte Gtx 770 4gb

HPET is enabled by default in BIOS. I disabled it and framerates have stabilized in many of my games. MWO, I would get 120fps with dips into the 80's and sometimes much lower on parts of Forest Colony and River City. After disabling HPET I still get the occasional dips. However, I no longer get those huge lag spikes I used to get on the new maps.

Curiously, since enabling HPET in the OS my ingame ping has been about 10ms lower. It could just be coincidence though.

MIGHT give it a go later, as i generally run constant 59-60 fps with mostly all ultra settings, only occasional stutters in rounds even when heavy action/populace in view, but, good idea for a post.

after almost no real issues,(as im running a 50 inch flatscreen for a monitor at UNDERSCAN settings) so just a few adjustments,,
YES! it does seem to actually run even more fluid, what little occasional micro stutter i did have is now almost unnoticeable (cause by hi population in my aria of view in game) and my nano sec. rez, dropped from well over 300 to 40!! with the more fluid play everything seems to actually be speeded up 'on screen', so much so i had to drop the 'mouses dpi' way down or i'd miss my shots from targeting courser zipping across so much faster(as i have a 'red dragon' gaming mouse its dpi runs on top of game settings for mouse behavior,

so defiantly a very good improvement on an already buffed up gaming system.

proof positive of the old adage "you learn something new every day"

All them thar four'n servers used to veto my attempts to zoom in or out, but I've since turned HPET all the way on⏚, and now they seem playable most of the time

⏚ You know: On in the BIOS, "bcdedit /set useplatformclock true" into a Admin Command Promt (then a reboot)

OK, tuning back in. Great to hear that more of you are getting helped in one way or another.

Again, forum mods, maybe this is sticky-worthy?

I just disabled HPET in the BIOS of my Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P and have noticed a performance improvement with my Windows 7 Home 64-bit OS.  It feels like it boots faster and the programs that load at start load more quickly.

The frame rates in MWO seem to be more stable too.  CPU is an AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE.  GPU is a MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr Factory OC'd.

Enabling HPET worked to increase FPS on my system but not stabilize it. I still get drops of almost 30 FPS.
cpu:8320@ 4.1
mobo:Asus M5
Video: 2x7750's

same here, i think that it increased FPS but didnt stabilize it on some maps (polar wtf is wrong with you), but it runs better... Still i have to play more matches to verify it wasnt an isolated case...

Game settings:
All on High, using FXAA and DX11, vsync off

cpu:8320 stock (3.5ghz, turbo 4.0ghz)
motherboard: gigabyte 970ds3p
video: r9 280X 3gb

any other advices? reinstalling the game? or some kind of config

I7 6700k, MSI Z170A M7 Mobo, Sapphire R9 390X Tri-X. Hpet destabilizes MWO, DROPS frames, Witcher 3 performance went from 60-75 FPS to 30-35 FPS. Turned it right back off.

After some more testing, disabling HPET actually made MWO perform worse and not better as my initial impression posted above indicated.

I turned mine on to benchmark ROG RealBench and forgot to turn it back off last night. Crashed and dropped frames TERRIBLY until I realized the only difference I had made on my rig.

disabling should make it worse. HPET should be enabled.

Theres a common theme here...most Older Intel / most AMD benefit. Mine hated it. Badly.

Not much improvement in FPS for me, but the game is running MUCH smoother
