I'm ok with locking mechs out of the CW for timeline purposes.
That I could get behind, I'd also bracket things off, like 3025-3049, 3050-3058, 3059-3070 and anything goes.
At the same time I can understand them dragging their heals on this, with 3060+ a while slew of new tech comes with it, and a lot of it can be kind of broken... Last thing we need right now is 25 damage Heavy Gauss Rifles, heavy lasers or ER pulse lasers...

For legs, yes I agree. Overall mech design though...I think the Catapult got the worst treatment. It looks like a door knob with legs lol.

Yeah those legs were so long and absurd. I just thought they were silly altogether though but I never was one for assault 'mechs in that game aside from the Sunder which I took for laughs.

I know this might be a bit blasphemous, but I kind of wish they would make mechs without concern for timeline at all. Make 3060 mechs, go ahead!
BUT... Have CW locked onto the current timeline. Buy a MadCat MKII, use it in solo/group queue all you want, but it is locked out of CW until that timeline comes about.
CW is supposed to be the serious game type that would be more at home with a timeline. The other queues are really just random quick play matches that don't carry any weight. Why not?
I think I might make a thread on this...and get thoroughly trounced by the community lol.
that is a great idea

Mechwarrior 4 mechs pretty much all looked like toys. Refer to the miniatures and actual art for a better interpretation.

My favourite mech ever is the summoner. It looks terrifying in mechwarrior 3, it looks like a joke in mechwarrior 4.
That being said, mechwarrior 4 did its animations extremely well. Mechs walked as though they had real weight to them. I enjoyed the art style of mechwarrior 4. It was an interesting departure from the norm, but I think the grittier style much better suits the franchise. Either way, the MK II would be an awesome addition to the game, especially if alex had his way with it.
