perhaps, but I'll also be better equipped because of what I learned along the way. And it's always interesting to find what other people miss.

The real upside is you tend to be on the forefront of meta shifts. When you're constantly playing with builds and experimenting, it pretty much ensures that you'll come across the Next Meta before it becomes the Next Meta. Those shifts tend to be surprisingly slow.

It's really nice to not be competitive in the slightest little bit. Then there's no push to do that, no need to just copy someone else's builds.

Oddly, I still do quite well.

Eh, being uber comp is pretty overrated, unless one is making a living doing it. Used to play "oh so serious". Found myself turning into a D-nozzle like certain folks posting here (heck, people getting all comp serious on a thread about how a stompy robot model looks, lol) and realized it was time to get a life.

Folks want to compete? Come down here to Mexico, and let's see if you can outbag me freediving and spearfishing? It takes actual discipline, and hey, even the loser hopefully takes home dinner.

Acting like an internet tough guy over a video game? *SMH*

you also learn what works with the idiosyncrasies of your own playstyle, preferences, habits and even your gear.

I play with a crippled right hand, so where I would once use a really fancy mouse? What did I learn? As long as I can adjust the DPI, 3-5 buttons is all I really need or will use. I build mechs along 3 basic fire channels. Buttons 4-5 are cool shot and Airstrike.

I'm playing on a potato laptop since Hurricane Patricia. What does that mean? Half the FPS most people are running. So I adjust my builds and playstyle accordingly.

yup. Ran the metapoptarts before Poptarting took over, ran Wubvomit before it was the rage, and when everyone was saying you couldn't poptart anymore, was out there Novatarting before Soy ever came back to give it the "comp stamp of approval".

And making Metatards gnash their teeth and lose their composure on the forums, the whole time.

they even just agreed that they don't have anything better to do.

They got something like 7 hours to kill. I need to take these boys out to Cebu or Phuket. So they can get all this frustration worked off.

pretty sure that some of our 1337s wouldn't have a clue what to do in Phuket...... (cuz it's probably not something that happens in Mom's basement)

well, yeah to a degree.

You forget that most "Stock" mechs, are ment to function at all ranges because they are intended to be out in the field, sometimes without refit and rearm, for days at a time.

Naw Man, you forget that to the TRVEKOMP, fluff and lore and the reasons an IP exists in the first place are pointless.

ALL THAT MATTERS IS THE META!

There is nothing except this. There's no art opening, no charity, nothing to sign. There's the next meta, and nothing else.
