it still boggles my mind that this game cant do something that was seemingly trivial in mechwarrior 2.

It was a design decision from Day 1. Just becasue a few new players show up and think it a poor one, does not change the fact MWO does not have one and won't ever have one (for all the reasons provided), so they have simply added their voices to the "great din of White Noise" of repeat gripes, that have pervaded this Forum forever and it will be forgotten on page 2 in a couple more days. Or one can hope right? ;)

This is also the modern age. Squeaky wheels get replaced, not fixed. Path of least resistance and all that....

Fine, just don't Troll (your last 3 posts had some Troll in them) please. The Bridge traffic here is already quite congested. :)

Depends on what planet you live on I guess.... Is it cheaper to get the TV fixed or is it cheaper to just replace it. In my neighborhood, it's far cheaper to just replace it (factor in the time it takes for techs to try to do their things). One reason why i will never buy another LG TV, had an issue, took 4 tech visits (one of which was a LG engineer) to determine it was a bad patch and there was no ETA for an update other than "months". Suffice it to say, I am very happy with my Samsung TV now... The amount of time wasted was just plain stupid....

Yes, compare a complicated device like a TV to a simple one like an oiled wheel.

Your analogy sucks, try again.

Nope, it will never happen because PGI said so and it has been 3.5 years.

But whine on dear lad, some do it better than others... k

Tell me about how there aren't any features they haven't removed/added since then.

Oh wait, oops.

He can't snipe and check behind him at the same time.

Yeah, actually, with a hat switch toggle he can. It literally takes ~1 second to check behind you periodically to make sure no one's sneaking up on you.

Also, it's a light mech, it can just turn around whenever it feels like to check and turn right back around and keep firing just as fast.

No, actually, he can't. Whereas a hat switch toggle can check the rear in ~1 second, turning around to do so (and then turning back to face front) takes several seconds. It isn't nearly as useful to have to turn around.

Furthermore, it's even worse in heavier Mechs. Suggesting that an Assault can just "turn around and check any time he feels like it" is absurd and stupid.

Cry me a river about how your pay-2-win mech couldn't instantly wreck everyone ever.

Huh? What are you talking about?

Because of a cryengine limitation.

Basically, having a rear camera causes double the draw calls, as the game has to render two separate images simultaneously. This isn't technologically impossible, of course, but the way cryengine works makes it impossible in MWO. At least without a massive performance cost, which would basically limit it to only people with high end systems, creating a world where those with more powerful computers have a substantial advantage.

I refuse to accept that the normal camera cannot be instantly pivoted 180 and back.

Why rear view camera is needed...

Because people like to stand behind each other when going through a valley. Also because backing into another friendly obscuring his fire is another bad idea, so being able to see him and not backup into him is kind of important, in tight situations. If you want to use Immersion, well fighter jets currently have mirrors of the edge of their cockpits (EF2000 EG) because it far more quick and useful than turning to look behind oneself, or basic situational awareness.

But a PiP display would be awesome to use in one of the cockpit monitors. Forgot the MW2 had PiP support, I call BS like Laser Sharp too.

They could put the 3rd person camera on the back torso of units and then play could press a button to switch rear view toggle (camera displays view from the back center of players mech torso.

Sarcasm, god forbid our cockpit monitors display tactical / situational awareness information...

Doesn't need to be grainy-you light pilots forget mechs like the dire can't move fast enough to even shoot you so why the worry bout been seen? It's not like the dire has a chance to shoot you-gesh!

Well if you cant do anything about them then why do you need a high quality full view behind you?

It's all relative. Don't be obtuse. Repair a wheel for $15 (parts + labor) or replace it for $10.

In a light? It takes a second to turn around. I'd be find with a 1 second "activation" to circumvent this issue.

A mech you can't buy with c-bills that has the firepower of a mech twice it's weight? Yeah, pay 2 win. Not necessarily broken, but Jenner IIC is very powerful for it's weight.

Again, in what world do you live in that a oiling a wheel requires more labor and is more expensive than replacing it?

Are you daft?

The only time I actually used the rear view cam when I played MW4 Mercs is to check on my teammates, that's it. The view was grainny and not very clear. It was rare for someone to sneak up behind you anyway.

A rear view cam can be usefull with MWO. The seisimic sensor only works when you are motionless.

Is it just oil? How do you know? How much oil? What kind of oil? How long until you have to oil it again? Is squeaking part of normal operation when not oiled and not wear and tear? Is the wheel even serviceable? Are you qualified to answer these questions? I am (I'm a certified automotive mechanic, network engineer, and mechanical engineer).

The world it seems is far more complicated than you realize.
