This map is by far worse than Alpine.

It's wide open, no where to hide.. Took my LRM boat on it to get my 2x xp.. Without even breaking a sweat i did over 1200 dmg. Did you guys seriously think a flat map is a good idea?

Umm, I said the new map is worse than alpine and alpine was saved by the skin of the devs teeth last month.

You dislike the map so it needs to go? Well, good luck convincing PGI to scrap the newly made map. They will be glad to lose their invested time. Posted Image

All this whining about LRMs...you don't even need to show your Tier.

The map is FLAT. Theres barely any cover anywhere and it encourages the ERLLA and LRM spam.

I like the new map. It's open, yes; but the trenches allow for lot of cover. No problems avoid LRMs.

Good Job, Devs!

I did some trolling Yesterday with my (don't hate me for this sacrilege much) LRM Kingcrab with a friend running Raven-3L with narcs Posted Image

Won all (5-7) the games in new map, damage +-1000 all of them, so LRMs do work pretty nicely in this new map IF there is spotter/narcer... even in tier1.

MWO players just aren't used to facing LRMs on maps that really punish them for getting out of position. Especially pugs. On basically every map except Caustic, there's so much cover you don't really need to worry about UAVs. Cover is always within arm's length, basically.

It's the first map where players are forced to deal with long range weapons and LRMs with relatively little cover, outside of CW.

It's the first map where you can take a long range build, like a PPC Awesome, gauss sniper or LRM boat, and you don't have to pray to the Gods that your teammates don't choose a path that renders your build all but entirely useless. "Oops, my team went under platform on Crimson. ggclose, another match with 0-50 dmg."

MWO players are so conditioned to play on maps where all the fighting takes place at 300 meters and there's no need for scouting at all, many get upset.

I imagine a lot of players who begged for maps like this since 2012 have left MWO for MW:LL or other games.

TL;DR - Potentially best map in MWO. Certainly top 3. Y'all need to learn how to shoot down uavs.

Polar Highlands is an excellent map. It incorporates many of the points of feedback players have offered on map design, including lack of a central feature, good visibility, no funneling terrain, grouped lance spawn points, big enough to make scouting meaningful, few impediments to mobility, mix of long sight lines and covered approaches, and so on. PGI deserves a lot of credit for this one.

Having faced several teams trying unsuccessfully to run LRM decks on Polar Highlands, I'm not yet convinced that it's that much of a problem. There seems to be enough cover to break locks.

Plenty of places to hide. Ravines, hills. Radar derp is pretty much standard on every mech these days.
Map is fine.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they need to remove it.

I quite enjoy it. Was getting LRM'd a match, so brought out an ECM map with a buddy. Shut them down next match. No big deal.

Exactly, it makes sense to have it in clan wars, not so much in pub rotation.

Next patch, perhaps?

Map is okay. I'm just getting sick over every freaking drop being this same damn map. Back to back to back.

There are plenty of ways to counter LRM's, and I rarely see people using them. I see people crying about LRM's without mounting ECM or AMS, and when spectating, it is obvious most of them never mount Radar Deprivation.

Just because the map is unsuited to your typical playstyle does not mean it is a bad map.
