It is indeed shockingly easy to get the KMDD with the SRM24 or SRM36 Jenner IICs. One or two cycles will wreck stuff from behind, and if they survive, you get your sweet hiney they are turning their back on the main group to face the Jenner that is shredding them. Got a couple KMDDs wading into a group of 5-6 heavy and assault mechs. Popped UAV, blasted a few backs then ran around in between them as long as I could while the rest of the team hammered them. Crazy amount of damage done and c-bills earned in a few short seconds lol Posted Image

And then I played on Terra Therma ... lol :(

If the challenge holds no big win for you, skip it.
Other things to do anyway.

That acronym is horrible. Faction Play you mean? I think this may be a calm before the storm period, with more info to come during the Town Hall.

Yea, remind me to update this old version someday.

Can we suggest an event where you get $1 million c-bills per different mech you drop in, as long as you drop in more than 100 different mechs in 72 hours? Major payout even for F2P players as long as you've been diligent about collecting the free mech bays during challenges and CW rankings.

To all the p2w crybabies: Don't pay anything and you'll have nothing to loose. Simple as that.

I don't understand why people call such an event paytowin.
Are these cbills handed out of some special quality? Will i be able to feed my autocannons with these, handing out instagibs reminding of the famous golden gun playmode?

No, it's an ingame currency which you can easily farm. 1mio isn't that hard to come by.

And that's all that is to this event: you paid hard cash and got some ingame value which, otherwise, you would've been able to grind for yourself. And some goodies like cockpit items. But NONE of this helps you to win anything.

And to top it off, even if you didn't buy anything, during this event you'll get free cbills.

The only complaints I can relate to are these from those who've bought the packages but invested in the champion and not the collectors edition.
Or those who had bought mechs which are now part of the steam packages beforehand with real money, like the Raven Champion, or the Clan Invasion Wave-packages.

There should be a core challenge for everyone that is not so limited in winnings and then add bonuses on top of that to reward players for purchasing packages. For example maybe I want to put money into premium time and mech bays but not so much the mech packages. I am still supporting the developers, but with a challenge like this I see very little benefit.

Still not worth it. The add ons don't matter when the core content is still mechs, mechs, and more mechs.

You get 2 mechs in any of the Steam packs, but you get technically more from the Origins pack (you get the special variants AND 2 other variants to get the chance to master them).

Having MC (mostly inconsequential when you primarily need mech bays) and camo (only limited to the mechs, you still have to buy 2 other variants in any of the Steam packs to maximize value - and you'd have to reserve the mech bays for them as well) doesn't hold the same value ultimately.

Returning to MWO after a long break since Open Beta

Yes this is my finding too I purchased both the Timberwolf package and the Steam Heavy package.

IIRC the TBR pack was €45 and the Steam Heavies €42

The Timberwolf package is the better deal by far as It includes everything to master the Timberwolfs with the steam Heavy pack I would have had to purchase a further two mech variants and the mech bays to hold them.
And initialy I had little use for the Thunderbolt

Except the nice people at PGI provided two completely free mech bays along with the the Centurion-AH and Cicada I won during the stocking stuffer and Like a Champion competitions.

The C-billis I earn in this loyalty competition would total near too what I would require to fill out either my Timberwolf or Thunderbolt stable.

I can see why PGI wanted the steam Packs to contain both an IS and a Clan mech rather than just a choice from the standard Packages but the Steam Packs were more expensive per mech so I think it is great that they get a little bonus top up.

Another great free competition thanks!
What with all the comps and the two packages I purchased I have been running premium time since the 21st of December I for one have no problem with the overall value I have received for my Euros.

As I have joined House Marik and the Mariik Gunfighters Alliance [MGA] Even my Steam Thunderbolt has stopped languishing at the back of my Mech bays.
(teamspeak = housemarik.enjinvoice.com all are welcome)
This comp is getting me back to playing My MadCats.

Buying MC and Premium Time will get you loyalty rewards when they do customer appreciation, in September I think. Some free mechs and whatnot, for example many unique variants were given away last time. I got a Nova, Cicada, Wolverine and Executioner I think, all with +30% c-bills and a unique skin.

Also note that mech packs often have Premium Time included in the price. Just saying Posted Image

Thanks for adding BW and BH2 Heroes to the event, I can't say no to an easy 2 million c-bills :D

now this would be a loyalty event that would be awesome and terrible at the same time. just think of the number of charging the enemy suicides there would be, but the payout would be huge for those that have a ton of mechs

hmm 325 possible mechs ... for a 325mil payout
insta drop, in game for 5mins, 27hrs of game time
5 min wait for drop, in game for 10mins, 81 hrs of game time
between 4 and 12mil per hr payout

Well I just hope that the challenges don't go off in the wrong direction and become only for paid packages. I did not get to play a good deal of last year due to moving and all, so I missed the September challenges. I did enjoy the Christmas challenge, I thought that it offered a good variety of items.

I would like to see the ability to earn weapons in some challenges, I could be wrong but I do not think PGI has done that before.

so is this a pay to win event? the only way to get this event done is if you pay to get the $40 Warhammer and steam (S) packages?

I don't know... I'm finding that getting those KMDD ticks pretty damn hard for me. I've tried it out, but I think it's time for me to sit this out.

There is no "winner" so I don't know how you classify it as pay to win...

If you invested in the game you came ear more cbills from the event, and if you invested more in the right things you can maximize that earnings potential, but YOU STILL HAVE TO GO OUT AND GET THOSE KMDs... this not as easy on all possible chassis as one might think.

The heavier eligible chassis and the Jenner IIc srm boats have the best chance to grind this out. I am not great with assaults and heavies and the hunchback IIc is too slow and squishy still... so even though I could grind this on about 6-7 mechs, I am just doing the jenner.

Besides, you all will learn that once you get good at this game, making 5-10 million cbills (premium time) a day is pretty easy and the approach most take to rack up kills (or KMDs ) is largely counter productive towards acquiring these funds.

Winning and teamwork (assists, etc) will get you more buck for the bang...

Sure, if you want to look at it this way...

The appropriate perspective is "pay to open up a temporary increased revenue stream"

Seriously if you are planning on playing this game for more than 6 months, this cash grab is a drop in the bucket... 15 mill will buy you one Clan assault... in a game where you will be striving for dozens of mechs to have on haND with the "rebalancings" and cw drop deck changes, that is not that big a deal.

It is an opportunity to "payback" those that paid cash for things that do not actually exist...

And this is why I wonder about the legality in my state. If you have to pay to gain access to potentially gaining the prizes, my state defines that as gambling, which is illegal. Magic: The Gathering tournaments where you ante were deemed to be illegal here in the 90s because it was/is considered a form of gambling.

Edit: However, if all the required mechs were in the trial options, that would remove the gambling aspect since it would then qualify as "No purchase necessary to win."

Noticed the nice surprise of PGI adding the Black Widow and Bounty Hunter 2 as part of the event. Very much unexpected (I really was just happy with running the (S) and (O) mechs I've got for the event), but it is very much appreciated.

Thanks!
