Forum back online! first and most importatn question:
Did the event point count correctly during the downtime? if not, will there be a retroactive injection?

EDIT - Point have been counted - case closed...

Love the challenge but can it please be prolonged for 24 hours so that us weekend commuters have a chance to participate on monday?

There seems to be a Date missing in the time designation. I guess it should read 1st of February 8:00:00 AM UTC?

Also I am always struggling with the AM/PM timestamps (00:00h being 12am??).

Would it be possible to use 00:00-23:59 for hours and YYYY-MM-DD or DD-MM-YYYY for date designation?

And here comes another dose of my anger at PGI... I just had to lose a lot of sleep where I should never have had to, and incurred self-injury, in order to complete the "20 KMDD, Any Mech" challenge before the time limit! There's a high chance however that two other people who play MWO on this computer as well won't be able to finish even that little part in time. They literally hit a limit, unable to ignore their sleep cycles, have conflicting schedules, and are effectively on too limited of a time table to ever have a chance. It makes me feel simultaneously sad and angry that we're all getting the short end of the stick like this. Posted Image

Hell, I'm going to state this plain and simple... PGI, TAKE YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND, AND ADD AT LEAST 3.5 MORE DAYS TO THIS EVENT! GIVE THOSE WHO REALLY DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME AN ACTUAL CHANCE TO FINISH WITHOUT CAUSING SELF-INJURY! I TOLD YOU ONCE, AND I'M TELLING YOU AGAIN, NEVER MAKE AN EVENT LENGTH LESS THAN 7 DAYS! STOP BEING SO BLOODY PREDATORY UPON YOUR PLAYER BASE! Posted Image

I am not sure why PGI does not just run 1 challenge per week, and then give players at least 6 days to complete the challenge.

That would be one way to do it... Or as equally, if they're going to have long events, give a healthy resting period in-between them. Further, they should have a 7-day minimum on any event's runtime, with a minimum of 7 days between events. That way, everyone isn't feeling pressured for time and opportunity to complete it, and everyone gets the chance to recover in-between events.

I think we can agree, Humans simply are not AIs/Animals, we can't go non-stop constantly, and PGI doesn't seem to be getting that, which is going to hurt them in the long run. Heck, we're NOT all war-thirsty, adrenaline-junkie lunatics, forever rabidly trying to find our next fix, right?

Part of me wants to agree with the idea of date/time extension for an event, because I can genuinely see this as being a problem and concern...the other part of me though is that even if PGI were to do that, there would *STILL* be people complaining that the event isn't running long enough, or find some other complaint.

So I am just going to go with my gut and say "suck it up and drive on". I swear to christ, this forum/community is filled with some of the most ungrateful children on the face of the planet.

I really think that if someone (PGI) is going to go out of their way to do something (like an event or sale) that they don't have to do (because they don't), those on the receiving end, regardless of how applicable it is to them, should just accept the gesture with a smile and say "thanks, I really appreciate it."

While I don't disagree with you that some events need to run longer, and I am sorry the event time frame is not conducive for your schedule, I don't know how flexible they can become... this event *is* oddly framed and I wonder if it's just them experimenting since Aussies were complaining about previous events essentially starting on Saturday based on that 10 am pst...

I will say that if you are killing yourself for a few million cbills... you are doing something wrong b/c it ain't worth it...

That's right. Why are you busting your balls chasing such paltry sum?

Just sit back and enjoy the game and play it the way you like to play instead of forcing yourself to do something just for the reward. If your sense of enjoyment and hours of your time is worth less than $1M c-bills, then you really need to take a step back.

Grinding for arbitrary virtual reward while performing a task you would otherwise choose not to is a sign of game addiction.

Devnull I posted these earlier, but not sure if you saw em. Some people may say I am causing more people to use lrm, but these can be fun. Usually I net at least 2 kmmd per match with each of the below builds. Sometimes it is more. They are fun to play, and once you've finished the event go back to your normal mechs.

As they said D V.

We are here to help, and posting builds for opinions and help is totally normal.

For example my main mech when I can jump in will be:
As7- s with 4x lrm5, 4x med laser, and an ac/20 with 3 tons of ammo.
Hbk-4j with 3x med laser, 2x lrm 10and lots of ammo.
Grf-2n 2x med laser, 4x lrm 5 with lots of ammo.

Engine in the as7-s is a standard 300. I can't remember the other two off the top of my head.

I will also run a quad uac5 kgc -000b, raven huggin for lights.

One of my best mechs for KMDD is the HBK-IIC with dual UAC10... does tons of damage until it jams both guns, and can often make mechs twice its size pucker up pretty quick :)

I just wish people would stop hyper focusing on the here and now...

If you've been around for a while, chances are there have been events for you cash-bought mechs.

If you are new to the game, there will be more events in the future so don't kill yourself...

I think PGI should do a whiner event next. No prizes for playing, just so the whiners can whine a little more. The one with the most whiney posts in the thread regarding it gets 50 c-bills. So he can whine how small his win was even more. The runners-up get honorable mentions (yes, they can whine they did not get anything).

YOU ARE GETTING FREE STUFF SO STOP WHINING INCESSANTLY FFS!

edit: small corrections.

I understand that not all players have the time to participate in events like this . At the same time Ii'm a divorced father of 3 young children , work an avge of 14 hr a day for 21 0f 30 days a month. In last challenge it took me less than 2 hours to complete the event . This event is a little more complicated but not so bad that you can't cash in on the prizes. Granted PGI does run some odd times for events and doesn't announce things too far in advance. When I play events I don't focus on getting my goals only. I play to to my strengths as a pilot and work with my team to recycle opposing Mechs as fast as possible. Remember Play the Game ... Don't Let The Game Play You !! O7 MechWarriors !

They have events almost every other week with at least some "all-inclusive" component. If one does not work for you, there will be another that will.

The *only* request I could possibly make is to make more events that allow you to accomplish something via quick play *or* faction play... but not have to grind both.

I mean this in the sense that there is one prize and 2 ways to get it...

That would make sense. Or have challenges run for 6 days, with one down-time day for updates, etc.

I mean, it's not like these things takes days and days to code (I hope...)

KMOD? Not sure, but KMD = kill most damage = the person who did the most damage to an opponent before destroyed.
