Considering how I now rush Dire Wolves and Timberwolves in MEDIUM I.S. mechs, because they're easy "quick kills", says something.
So, with the state of the game being that I.S. mechs can out range, out run, and out gun Clan mechs, WHY ON EARTH would you pay for a SLOW Clan brawler?

The Hero version can reach almost 90kph with MASC. For a 100 tonner, that's so hilarious to experience.
Secondly, name me an IS mech that can out gun, and out run, and has more durability than the Timberwolf.
And selling $300 worth of Clan mechs is dumb to say the least. Sure, it sorta make sense to sell variants that have no unique CT, but all of them? My Timberwolves, EBJs, and Direwolves can still take on most IS mechs 1v1 without issue.

Don't argue with the whiners, dude.
They'll whine as long as their clan mechs can't solo an entire IS lance of heavier mechs

Spends RL money, sells the mechs for ingame money. Will complain about selling his Clans when the Clan buffs come. Never sell mechs, ever. You don't know where balance will put your "crap" mechs a few months down the road.

Yup. Adder was a steaming pile of junk once upon a time, now it rocks.
Kodiak will be good. very good. Fully customisable, humanoid hitboxes, massive shield arms, highest mounted multi ballistics of any large mech. Yeah. Its going to be significantly better than any existing clan assault (which is a good thing, clan assaults suck atm).
Yes, my position on the Kodiak has changed, due to the KDK-3.

well, some mech has to be the best [general] mech. You're list of traits you want me to find for an IS mech is nearly everything that most people put towards in MW: O... (as an, not caring about how well it can narc/ spotting equipment, AMS cover, etc).
I can name you a mech that can surpass the Timberwolf in terms of Firepower- the Black knight, Able for similar heat efficiency to dish out more damage than a timberwolf with a build of 4 medium lasers and 3 large pulse lasers, it's slower than a timberwolf however.
We also got the Grasshopper, which can be faster and thanks to superior JJ can be more agile and such. With slightly less damage but can be optimized to have slightly better brawling potential with DPS.
Durability?... Highly debatable, people have different preferences... for eg I think the old catapult was very durrable but the currrent stalker is the most fragile assault out there. It depends on how often you role incoming damage, your range quota and fighting range, AMS quantity and coverage, how much face time you do, jumpjets, etc etc etc.
I can easily say at least in my hands that my black knight is way more durable. However many people cry it has a huge CT and thus bad durability. It really depends on the user here...
As usual with anything- there is always a mech that is the best in a certain field. In this case the Direwolf has the highest firepower potential while Timberwolf is best average mech. However IS have quite a few superior specialized mechs ranging from PPC snipers and certain blends. So I can't say here... I personally preffer the Mad Dog over the timberwolf in terms of durability but hey, I am that insane guy who puts missiles on a timberwolf (wot?!?).
I should also say that the IS have a slightly heavier MASC with some benefits over the Clan counterpart for the big mechs, meaning there is still chance for the IS to have a even faster 100 tonner or assault mech in MW: O in the form of a hero...

I am merely educating T Decker about the fact that IS mechs may be better in some aspects but never on all aspects, because there is always a tradeoff.

Not only that BK build is slower than the Timbie, it also has less range than the Timbie. Tradeoffs.
Grasshopper that can run faster than the Timbie? You mean that joke of a mech called the GHR-5J? With large XL engine? You serious?

Here, ladies and gentlemen we have a prime example of: The problem is in the pilot, not the 'mech.

'Nuff said.
Edit - On Topic:
The Kodiak art is just one of the best ones I've seen made by Alex.
That alone makes me want to buy it, even though I dislike clans and have made sure to not own any of them.
So this says a lot about the impression the artwork (and possibility of gameplay) that 'mech represents to me.

Show me the build on Smurfy. And don't use XL on it, cause that invalidates your statement.

God this annoys me. When i lose an ST in a Timber, im usually down to 1 LPL and 1-2 ERML. Kitfox level firepower, with Warhawk level mobility, at best im going to contribute another 100 dmg in quickplay. In CW, if i lose an ST in a Clan mech, unless its my last mech, i charge suicidally into the enemy so i can get a new mech, because my DPS with a missing ST is going to suck.
My point is survival on ST loss is over rated, since you rarely contribute much with a 1 sided C-XL mech... even my Laser vomit Hellbringer (2xERML, 2xLPL), which loses no weapons if i lose the RT, is semi useless because the heat nerf + DHS loss means i overheat on the 2nd alpha. Its obviously better than dying, but the actual difference it makes is minimal, other than helping that mechs KDR stat.
I really, really wish they would just buff the IS-XL to survive one torso destruction so all the whining could finally stop, and we could stop relying on so many quirks

There are enough asymetrical builds who still can pack a punch with it.
But even if you drop survivability, "outrun and outgun" will be an edge case for a quicky.
