I was thinking something along the lines of this http://mwo.smurfy-ne...eed62e94ab1c628

Teaches noobs how to use Gauss Rifles. The build also builds up heat relatively slowly and hence noobs won't overheat constantly with things like laser vomit builds

I kinda like this build. Middle of the road build, nothing too crazy. Not too hot, too cold.Decent DPS and poke-ability. 1x UAC10 with 5x CERM's. Fully armored with TC1. Also uses all EBJ-A parts too and satisfies any OCD's need of filling all slots.

My own take on the Dual G Ebon. Still have the most fun in this variant compared to other EJ builds. I do often drop lasers for more Gauss but that just depends on how precise I am running that night.

Close - but Juju's is better. yours doesn't have enough ammo, and those small lasers arent going to get into range very often. meh who needs leg armour.

In order of Noob freindlyness i vote:
1. This Variation on Burns 2LPL 4ERML EBJ- B - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d3d1836775f7dc9 - Note Armour distribution and traded CAP for extra DHS.
2. Gman's - 2uac10 3erml
3. Bows3r's - 1 Gauss, 2 LPL's, and 1 Medium laser
4. JujuShinobi's - Dual Gauss 3ERML

1 Gauss, 2 LPL's, and 1 Medium laser. This build has a very lenient heat curve, while providing excellent Hill-Peek ability due to the high mounts on the LPL and Gauss, the ability to trade well at long ranges, and a strong alpha strike for shorter ranges.

EDIT: Link seems to have broken. fixed now.

I'll vote for your build once you throw a TComp on there and strip some arm armor and maybe lose the half ton of Gauss since you don't need it these days (aka post Gauss nerf). Like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...963a78eceb9f582

EBJ-any

- 2x UAC/10 (4 tons ammo)
- 3x cERML
- 16x DHS

-------------------------

Laservomit all the time is boring, so I'm not voting for laser builds - Clan trials should have variety, and the EBJ is particularly good at dakka. Left arm is stripped for tonnage, both UAC are on the same side for better convergence, 4 tons is plenty of ammo for the average player ever since all AC10's in the game received an ammo bonus. Heatsinks are placed for crit padding. Legs aren't stripped too much.

Triple AC/5 with 5 tons of ammo and 6 small lasers. This build is a super fun chainsaw and if something thinks it can get in close you melt their face off while they get crazy screen shake.

EBJ-A

Why AC/5? There is literally no reason. UAC/5 is better in every conceivable manner.

View PostDisDrak, on 04 February 2016 - 01:01 PM, said:

EBJ-A I also have a machine gun

Is that even a serious suggestion?

Requires three weapon groups which is awkward for new players. The MGs are hitscan super close range, the SRMs require lead time, and the cLPL is suited to somewhat long range. None of these weapons complement each other. The build is also mostly ammo-dependent.

7x cSPL gets ghost heat. That's a no-no straight away. Also you strip too much leg armour. Trials shouldn't have an obvious weakness like that, because it is exploitable. Also you have too much rear armour. Trials should be an example of how to properly build mechs, so when new players look at them they go "ohh, right, that makes sense, since you shouldn't be giving people your back anyways". Otherwise when they buy new mechs from the store they'll just leave the stock rear armour and think it's okay.

Too much ammo in a torso - it's just a ticking timebomb asking to be blown off. Also, I don't think new players are going to need 5 tons of ammo.

1x Gauss rifle, 1x ER medium laser, 2x Large Pulse laser

3 tons ammo per gauss rifle is plenty. Your ammo in the unarmoured arm is 100% useless. The order that ammo depletes is such that all torso ammo is depleted before the arms are used. So you will always lose your unarmoured arm before you have a chance to expend the ammo contained in it.

Reason: Must be cool (45%) and can use its speed to get close. New players need something capable of pushing as the peek-a-boo is not easy to do for them, esp. in an unleveled Jag.

NEVER split ammo into half ton increments. The more crits ammo occupies, the greater chance it has of being crit. And if one half-ton of ammo crits and explodes, then it can crit the other half in turn, starting a chain reaction. You should only split GAUSS ammo into half-ton increments, since gauss ammo does not explode (and again, the more crits ammo occupies, the greater chance it has of being crit, so it's useful for padding other equipment, and since gauss doesn't explode you'll only lose one crit's worth of ammo at a time, no chain reaction)

That has about double too much rear armour. 10 is really the highest you should ever go.

One SRM on its own is pitiful. One medium laser on its own is pitiful. You're mandating a third weapon group for almost no reason... adding unnecessary complication. Dual UAC/10 doesn't allow for enough spare tonnage to mount another ammo-based weapon, so SRM is out of question.

View PostPeter Overheater, on 04 February 2016 - 05:35 PM, said:

Like I said to somebody else... trial mechs should have such an obvious exploitable weakness like "legs have no armour." Because your build... has no armour on the legs. Those things are paper. Ack.

Three smalls is... not enough. Also, smalls doesn't have good synergy with gauss, since gauss is not a brawling weapon and smalls are not ranged weapons - they don't complement each other. Also, the armour on the left arm is unnecessary. It should be placed in the legs. The Targeting Computer is also fairly unnecessary. If you're going to go with small lasers, at least go full yolo: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d58aba07d5b58d5

But I would still not recommend that as a trial build. Ever.

Don't put the ammo in the torsos. The torsos are what get hit on the Cauldron Born, nobody ever arms for the arms so they only take incidental damage. With the ammo in the side torsos it is much more like to get crit, which means the ammo will explode and rip that side of your mech clean off. Also, since you are going full bore with 6x cERML, I would drop the Targeting Computer for another heatsink, or even drop one of the lasers for another heatsink.

ERPPC is too hot of a weapon to pair with LRMs. Too much rear amour. It's an LRM carrier... it's not going to be in the fray with mechs getting behind it tearing up it's rear armour. Also since all of its weapons are long range, it's defenseless if a brawler closes in on it. This is how I would fix the build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5280db3695e0093
... but I wouldn't submit LRM as a trial build for the EBJ, that's the MDD's job.

2 tons isn't really enough ammo (3 is standard, 2.5 works well). The TComp is rather unecessary, but I suppose it's fine. Fixed: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...58cc8baaf3fa463

EBJ-PRIME 2xUAC10 5xERSL
PUG matches inevitably end in a short range brawl, where 5xERSL > 3xERML. More damage, less heat, shorter beam duration.
