turning it most-like a canonic shooter game.
Removing this option will drastically reduce the effectivness of laser boating and will
encourage again multiple weapon systems loadouts.

Truth... I use it all the time and I am not a people.
Seriously though, I find it so useful that the toggle is bound to my mouse. No arm weapons?....then locked arms means a better aiming reticle. Spread weapons?...then arm lock helps with pin point damage and allows a quick unlock for that darn ACH sitting on top of a Mesa in Bog.
I really think efficient arm lock use is one of those little things that can make any pilot better.

wont fix laser boating or large alphas. it will just piss off a lot of people who use the feature.

But in any case, it's a step in the right direction. Even if removing arm lock only spreads damage a little bit for good players, it's a step in the right direction.

there is a number of things which, in various combinations, might help though... like...
- simply dropping laser damage
- implementing a much longer linear damage drop-off for lasers
- make mechs explode again to make in-your-face vomits punishing
- implement heat slowdown (myomer malfunction)
the current massive alpha laser vomits make the PPC spams of the old days look tame, they were not NEARLY that bad, and yet they were part of the reasoning for ghost heat in the first place
its simple really, the hitscan weapon must never also have the best damage profile, because they already have an advantage with the hitscan and are therefor lower skill weapons - everyone knows this... i dont know why its a thing here

First of all, toggle on/off.
Second, you must have the same kind of weapon much close as possible for convergence-----> Torsi
Third, the true tryhard wants the hardpoints as higher as possible-----> torsi.
Four: easy.....instant....pinpoint....convergence and positioning >>>>> facehugging at 5-6 metres
edit: just to be clear witn my post, arm lock on/off has nothing to do with High laser alphas

Afair the Stormcrow can field 10 or 12 Lasers in the Arms...other like the HBK have 7 Laser in the Torso...Arm Lock does nothing to them...it only makes the playfiled more even that Mechs with spread Hardpoints can compete a bit better against these Hardpoint-Monsters when Arm Lock is enabled.

Upper arms actuators can't be removed so it's sufficient to spread damage in many situations

Arms weapons grants more precision but lower mounts as drawback and quirks have to be used to balance the overall performance...

was it not that long ago I commented on the butthurt howls of "skill" players if anyone threatened their precious crutch? LOL.
This thread sounds like a mix of cats in heat and coyotes yelping already, lol.
If it won't matter, then why dost they protest verily?

new players learned just fine for the first year or more without it..... because we didn't even have the option.
yet always seem to be "skilled" players most against it being removed.
