I suspect a map like this would take longer to create because, if you notice, all the current maps have many of the same textures repeated within the same map. A Ruin City map would have a lot of less-repeated textures and would require creation of many new assets.. or at least existing assets altered to appear damaged, collapsed, burned, etc.. Im sure they could do it and might very well be creating one now but it would out of the norm compared to existing maps.

That last bit is an excellent reason for making a city ruins map.

Ohhh how awesome would a sports stadium be to fight in? Having buildings like this would be sweet.

Not sure it would be that awesome, unless it was a futuresports oversized stadium.

Here's a scale drawing of an american football pitch (was the first thing that came with sizes on). Actually it's three of them, and a Commando.

Cut 2m off the height of that Commando and you'll have the size correct.

I'm uncertain a city map would play well enough on most computers, especially at the sizes you're talking about. I would love to have one, to see how PGI would do it, as their maps are creative, I think, but I also think it would be so large and so full of buildings that it wouldn't run on any bet the most robust of computers.

Bump

This is the type of map we need next, for both queued games and Faction War.

YES, regardless of what the devs say MWO NEEDS a war torn metropolitan map. River city and Crimson Straight are cool and all, but there needs to be a major urban map in which mechs can weave in and out of buildings, engage in flanking at various points, break up focus fire, etc. Sure, include some long range areas, MW4 had parks, a space port, etc to break up the cityscapes.

The problem with MWO is variety, yes we have quite a few maps, but many of them are similar. Hills, valleys, inserted cover, etc. Many of them are long range oriented maps with short range 'locations' scattered around the maps.

On River City we have a tunnel of sorts. A pair of longer, darker tunnels could be added such as a subway tunnel to make it harder to defend one side of the map as defenders in one area might have to watch out for Mechs popping out of the tunnel.

The tunnel on Crimson Straight is an ideal example, however it is short for what I have in mind. A really long tunnel.

More maps, not just urban environments, I would love for them to even respruce old maps with different weather effects. Like the old forest colony and forest colony snow.

Would need to be careful in that too closed in and it becomes a "free kills" against the bigger Mechs that will be prey to smaller ones, maybe as a FW map this would be great as at least you can reshuffle your deck before dropping . . . otherwise look forward to any decent new map.

It's what i've been crying and begging for for a long time. A map stuffed with buildings of all sizes and heights.
Maybe even with an assortment of narrow alleys and tunnels with low ceilings that big mechs cannot go through.

Places to shoot at long range with would be the mainroads and from atop of buildings.

You guys wanna know what i find disturbing about this thread?

The fact that no devs has made a reply here or even put a tiny "like" on the original post. Nearly 200 players have voted and nearly 96% wants this kinda map.
It is without a doubt a popular idea. Do we need to gather several thousand votes for them to notice? Will they notice even then?

Is it just me, or has anyone got this distinct feeling that we may have to hunt down PGI's Staff in-game, and start forcibly injecting all this useful information into their minds? It's like they're ignoring everything we're providing here, twiddling their thumbs, and coming up with ways to mess up the game instead. Maps of this variety would be really nice to have. :(

You guys need to take this PGI rant elsewhere and stop with hijacking this thread. This isn't a thread for your pissing match about PGI! Want to ***** about them make your own post and ***** about them there.

It kind of fits everywhere these days, don't you think?

Having a Metropolitan Ruins map would be nice, but PGI are not listening, they don't ******* care, period. It's suitable to the conversation at hand. Report it if you don't like it, because that's the only way this ******* thread is going to get any attention!!! Capische?

Some hardcore bittervets here.

Personally I get matches within a couple minutes these days and I play during different times.

It's not a new thing for the numbers to dip a little when other big titles come out, Fallout 4, Doom, etc.

But scgt is right, this isn't the place for malcontent. If you don't like the game why bother with the forums? Go outside or something.
