Because this is not the "BattleTech Discussion" subforum, when people compare the RFL to the JM6 I assume it's about how they function in MWO and not in TT, BT p&p, etc.

I thought about doing a video for the rifleman, but ehhh....

You know, Hollywood has been having a hell of a hard time coming up with original ideas and rehashing out a lot of the old 70's 80's and 90's stuff. Maybe it's time to revisit the old 50's and 60's shows; back when there was a dozen different Western shows to watch every week. Heck, even Western shows and movies from the 90's did well like Lonesome Dove, Tombstone, The Young Riders and Dances with Wolves.

MA! It's time to put the kettle back on the fire!

Of course, a lot of those 50's and 60's shows had white people portraying different ethnic groups in makeup. That's not going to pass the PC radar watch groups. Then of course they all had guns and shooting a dozen guys every show too and that's not going to pass the anti-violence groups either... Meh! No wonder Hollywood hasn't touched them yet... ;)

Ohh look at the Weapon locations on the Rifleman! Torso energy is right in line with the arms and cockpit. Tiny waist! It will be a killer!
Slow though.

From the pic, it seems a very very good work by 3D designer.

Well, that thing is definitely NOT XL friendly. Look at the side torsi!

Will be much friendlier than the XL Jager, which in comparison to the rifleman is a box. Posted Image

Those arms are looking a little... short. Like, a lot short.

...as usual, I suppose.

I'm hoping it'll still look beefy once we see other angles of it.

Arms from the main page photo look fine to me. A little bit lower than I was expecting, but not by much. Ideally that upper slot is filled by the 3 hard point arms, not one slapped on to the side.

It looks good.
Which is good.
Good.

You can do the Scorpion now, i trust you won't fudge it up, like the Quickdraw.

I very much like the aesthetics of the mech. I'd say that it stayed quite true to the concept art on a very detailed level.

Also, looking at the main-page picture and it's proximity to the bridge posts on that location in River City . . . the Rifleman is going to be one compact mech. The weapon barrels are pointing just over the top of the post, which is where the shoulders of a Wolfhound set, to give a perspective of size.

Even if the radar boom is part of the hit-boxes, I see it being targeted and shot at as reliably as the same implement on the Jager. You might get some grazing blows when it peeks over hills, but I wouldn't consider it a solid and reliable source of CT shots.

This package is very much on my wish-list. As long as the flamer fixes aren't botched (and I'm praying with every fiber of my being that they aren't), I'll be purchasing the Collector's Pack with Hero Upgrade on Patch-Day.

didnt they say that the marauders big back part would impair it... and those things work extremely well

and they also said the crabs sticking out torso would screw it over, and they tank damage pretty well too.

The way i see it, the rifleman will likely be the next most annoying mech thanks to all those level high point weapons, more a shooter than a brawler so doesnt need perfect hitboxes... of course someones gonna double gauss it coz why not.

In theory.
In this game, the unquirk'd Jager and Blackjack have proven the opposite.
Jagers without quirks had been glasscannons in the pre-Clan-era, when two AC10 with four medlasers had been considered serious firepower.
But, back then, a heavy which walked ~70kph had been considered crazy fast, so...
unquirked, these mechs would sport good weapon locations, but be really really fragile. On top, for ballistic glory, even the Jager lacks five to ten tons of weight. Usually a Phract had been considered better, but they suffered from low weapon mounts and their RT being an insanely effective bullet magnet.

On top: no arms to shield your weapons and sidetorsi are always a huge drawback of such designs, which explains why mechs with built in high up weapon mounts (HBR, WHR) do usually better. The necessity to spend armour on your weapon arms is just icing on the cake...
