Blame Everything But The Obvious

Or just make it the further a mech differs from it's stock loadout, the greater the the C-bill/XP penalty. Hey, customized mechs takes more to operate and repair than standard mech right? Bring back the post-match repair cost for those meta mechs.
Alternatively, just bump the laser heat by 30-50%.
There are lots of quick and dirty way to patch things up while PGI focus on growing the player base.

The reality is there is no one magic bullet regardless of what the intelligencia infer...
The OP is 100% correct in that it's far easier to blame some outside influence than to self-reflect and appreciate most peoples woes are self-induced.
This is acknowledging MWO is not perfect... But at the same time it’s not immediately remedied by a singular twiddle of some game mechanic.

There are plenty of laser boats in TT, just not everything.

Sorry, I meant mechs currently in MWO (apart from the Nova). And I seriously doubt TT will allow its laser boats to alpha as often and accurately as they do in MWO. Watching a missile-less Timberwolf sprout 8+ beams of light sickens me. =P

They definitely can't alpha as accurately due to TT's random hit locations.
However, in terms of firing frequency, if they carry enough heatsinks they can keep puking every turn for the whole match without ever overheating.

Sized hard points would solve many problems too.

Not having met is not an excuse. His attempts (or lack there of) at balancing are all here for us to see. There were so many obvious balance issues he either ignored or delayed for months. And the LBX is still crap after 3 years. Three years!
Meanwhile, Machine Guns and Flamers at their absolute best have never been viable weapons.

TBF, machine gun during middle of 2013 was acceptable. Then Paul nerfed it to the ground while trying to implement his "crit seeking" mechanism. I want the good old machine gunning days back.

Except that they werent. They were less than 'OK' and only achieved this because at that point they were the best iteration of Machine Guns we'd had so far. You still needed 4+, a lot of face time and a clear line to a Mech's internals for them to be worthwhile. Flamers have never seen the light of day, by comparison. Do I personally blame Paul for this? Yes. He's the guy who determines the end-all version of what we get with the power to say "Do this..." And the simple fact Machine Guns, and to a much greater extent Flamers, have gone this long without so much as a knock on the door is quite frankly disgusting.

The latter is accurate . Vindicators are meant to be utterly mehh in all combat situations. They are cheap 'n cheerfull mechs meant to fill up numbers in Liao forces. Cheap Fusion engine, jump jets to increase the marginal mobilty for the weight class.

The last nerf about 1-1.5 years ago was due to folks using macros and the fact that MG do not have a cooldown. They could really increase the output. Now that they have rate of fire quirks I am assuming they have a way to limit the max output. If I use my spam macro 1ms key press, it seems like the mgs run out of ammo faster, but testing ground do not always reflect server side in game results.
