It was in since forever. Gravity was a feature of the engine to begin with. Or in other words the cry engine supported it, if it was added as game code. And MWO had it integrated since the beginning.
However it isn't much noticeable unless you'll shoot AC20/AC10s at long distances.

I called it "hook shotting" and it used to be my favorite thing to do in the Yen-Lo. I had the damage drop offs memorized for the 20, so as long as I was doing g at least 15, I'd let it rip. Hell, back then the ac20 out damaged the 10 at 450 meters, and a bit further. Good times!

Just makes me sad thinking about it. Extreme ballistic drop is fun, takes me back to when I played Minecraft and got decent with the bow.

Gravity is the same on all maps as far as I know. Haven't tested with ballistic but someone once did a fall speed test and found no differences. It it did change it could make for some interesting low gravity maps with reduced fall damage and better jump jets

It only map info. The gravity is on all maps the same. However PGI could make individual gravity for every map/planet. But they donÄt do so, because jump animations/walk animations are off if that would be the case and the feeling for the jump would be strange, if i remeber correctly.

Gravity is the same on all maps; what's more, it's massively higher than earth gravity (needed to make mech movement "feel" right).
The listed gravity on the map screen is just fluff.
