So do I need to purchase the reinforcement-package, too, if I want to use the omnipods of the Kodiak 4 and 5 or will they be available to me even if I "just" bought the standard and hero-package? [Sorry if this has already been asked, didnt read through all the comments]

The Kodiak is not an Omnimech so there aren't omnipods to swap.

Yes, and its assault so it has a lot of weapons, and expensive weapons...
When i think of lets say urbanmech ... you got less for similar money.

I do not think this debate is suitable for this thread (which is about the Kodiak and not the situation of the LRM meta).
It is rather off topic and gets more and more off topic the more that conversation is drawn out... notice how the past 3-4 wall of texts on both sides didn't even mention the kodiak.

Last minute buyer. Lots of ideas after mulling over this for a month. Didn't want to get at first, but why not. Been wanting to support the game since marauder, but quirk changes had me on fence till they did it. I still want a piranha.

I've never had an Assault Clan Mech .... money's out the window now. I imagined myself stomping on a Mad Dog (ala the ambush in MW2:Ghost Bear's Legacy) .... the shivers!! (but yes, I know that's never going to happen in MW:O)

Who knows, there's months of balance patches before it releases and we still don't know the quirks. Balance is always a shifting target in these games. I'd say get it if having an assault 'mech with clan tech sounds like fun, but if you're only worried about how effective it'll be it's best to wait a bit after launch to hear the feedback.

hard for PGI to make it UP realistically. but potentially possible to be OP on release. I mean the meta can take it with 6 er med las, 2 large pulse, 1 gauss...

It has everything any other 100 ton assault mech can want. So to it's contemporary rivals- there isn't a reason this will be bad.
