I think they're part of the Jump jets

Well I hope the Phawk fans like it, but it does nothing for me at all.

Most likely a nod to the Veritech/Valkyrie fighters the Phoenix Hawk was based on. Their "feet" were their thruster nozzles folded open:

I just hope the backpack doesn't make the hitboxes god awful. Also pretty big legs. Not something you want on a 45 tonner. Hope it's better than the Vindicator.

Whoop, looks gorgeous! I really love the nods to the original design. I'm glad Alex didn't fall into the trap of creating a Generic Western Mecha Redesign #65 and has instead added some character. The reality is that the original Phoenix Hawk was quite humanoid and rounded, and variety is the spice of BattleTech IMO.

I don't think the 'pistol' is quite as much as a pistol as what the image makes it look like, but detachable weapons make a lot of sense for a 'mech if you think about it. The BattleMaster was supposed to be able to drop its PPC.

Mech designs by Shoji Kawamori has a tendency to use this leg and feet design.

I am pretty okay with the new PH design. Totally looks like the Macross Valkryie like nothing at all. This is good for the legal standpoint.

The design needs to be consistent with the other mechs in MWO to create a common design theme or signature. So no surprise with the Enforcer like head.

That Pixie's head reminds me the MWO Black Knight's head.

Well, the head doesn't look THAT different from the TRO artwork. Still rounded, with a visor like cockpit window and antennae on the sides.

I just can't take a mech with a pistol serious. I will crack up every time I see one of them on the field.

A plus on the gun arm is it's a hardpoint that is guaranteed higher than the forearm. At least for 1 hardpoint. Higher hardpoints are always welcome. Unless the artwork is a lie like the Black Knights.

That's a very good point.

So, you already find Wolverine, Griffin and Battlemaster hilarious?
Because they have basically the same design of arm-mounted weapon.

None of them have such distinctive pistols in mwo. I don't know why I even bother telling you that.

The whole hand-held part is basically the same on all of those mechs.
The only difference is that Phoenix Hawk's is top-mounted as opposed to side mounted, which makes it actually better, by the notion of it being a higher mount.

But whatever, to each his own. I for one, really like the way it looks (and wish my Wolverine had his AC this way too)

It reminds me more of the Standing Tank "Falcon" from the old Super Nintendo "BattleClash" game than an old veritech fighter, but it's definitely a Phoenix Hawk! The concept art looks cool Posted Image
