Splashdown ... DO you even know that a HBR can do literally the same while being about 55% of the EBJ´s width PLUS additional ECM and being about 200% less prone to losing those precious sidetorsi ?
I guessed so .

You just got educated .
The nice way .

You see, Gyrok...it doesnt even take days, 63 minutes is all it takes ^^

HBR cannot run 3 uac5's, it also cannot laser vomit nearly as well as the EBJ.

Try 2LPL's and 4 meds on the EBJ and then on the HBR.

You "educated" someone who posted he simply likes a 'Mech, who specifically stated that it wasn't because of the EBJ's level of OPness. And you did that without even taking into consideration that the EBJ has Endo and Ferro which the HBR does not, thus enabling the EBJ to carry roughly five more tons of equipment at max armour.

Good job, I guess?

I bring 3 x BLKNT and a light for IS CW.

I bring four EBJ for Clan.

Those are two very solid mechs imo.

As others have noted, best mech is a great circle jerk discussion starter but alot of it comes down to how a mech can be built, how that build intersects with a player's skillset and the intended role one is trying to fill.

Objectively, quite a few mechs carry the right blend of hitbox, quirks, firepower, mobility and speed in a game that tends to reward those areas the heaviest (vice the niche badasses like BNC, MAL, DDC or S). For me personally, its the EBJ, BLKNT, FS9, ACH, SCR, and to a lesser degree the TBR.

There are other great mechs out there but they feel more role dependant than the above so they slip from current consideration in discussing an overall best.

I always find myself coming back to the Hellbringer. It's at least one of the most balanced mechs in the game.

As of now, with its quirks and superior hitboxes, the better versions of the BKN will **** all over the aforementioned "Timbergods".

Quirks, yes. Superior hitboxes, no. Black Knight is basically CT. The BK is objectively better than TW in close quarters, but I have never seen it perform at range as well as the Timbie. So it is not as one sided as you claim.

SCR or ACH, TBR got hit with the nerfbat pretty hard.

Exactly which nerf? Aside from the A-LT (which goes away if one equips all the A pods), all the omnipod nerfs were reverted, like the Crow.

Mobility/structure negative quirks are still present...

In fact, all that was removed were about 5-8% of beam duration penalties on 3-4 omnipods.

The skill tree nerf, the (BS) ST speed loss penalty, and the DHS nerf all hit every clan mech harder than removing 3-4 sets of neg duration quirks from those chassis ever did to buff anything.

To the OP, I don't believe there is a "best mech", with the December balance of weapons and the re-quirking, the best mech is not so clear. Best at what? For example if you like to brawl, you're probably not going to pick a Timberwolf first, there are far better brawlers. Want to stand off and provide fire support? Want to rain down missiles? Want to race around and strike from flanks? There are mechs that perform those roles very well.

As it stands now, if I want to run a mech where I feel I have the best chance of impacting the match and helping my team win, I'd most likely be in a marauder or a warhammer. Both have very good balance of speed, firepower, toughness and pretty good weapon locations. But my preferred play style is closer to the front lines and using ballistics, the TBR and EBJ don't roll damage as well as the warhammer and can't match the structure of the marauder or the warhammer and IS ballistics are still better. But to each their own, really the "best mech" is the one you most enjoy piloting.

My maurader 5d is my best mech, I have more kills damage and exp and wins in it in the shortest amount of time played. Second to that is my Warhammer 6D. Clan Side I can't stop bringing hell in the Hellbringer, but the AC is just tanky as all get out for a light mech and can pretty much do anything any other light can do.

The marauder is an excellent choice. My best mech I would say is the Grasshopper or the Ebon Jaguar.

HBR can't do this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5bec955bfa2eb99

Nobody runs a 5-ton TC in their laservomit builds. Or rather, if they do, they probably aren't worth their salt. You need the extra cooling, otherwise you sit around twiddling your thumbs between shots without being able to do anything.

Thread title says it all. What do you guys think? What is the best Mech in MWO currently?

I am going to throw out the Timber Wolf.

This is really subjective to someone's playstyle. The best mech for me could be absolute garbage for someone else. I only play assaults and heavies. The dire wolf is my best ride followed by a warhawk. I like the mad dog for heavies followed by either a hell bringer or ebony jaguar. I hate mad cats in this game.

Ebon and Bringer are pretty different mechs. It's like you want to compare apple and orange.
It's depend on tastes and pilots.

I prefer the Bringer, 'cause it fits me well: thinner profile, while the Ebon is larger and I can disarm it fairly easily.
