Or, bypass the player needed initilization.

Every match has someone who is a bounty. Call it RNG.

If that person is killed, the Killer gets a sizeable bonus, and everyone who helped gets an assist bounty.

If that person lives, THEY get an equal bonus that is given to the killer, and the whole team gets a defending bonus.

Dunno how I'd feel about an RNG element.

I'd rather it be a player contained and generated type thing. I think it would actually help build some community and lend some "lore" to our universe here. The true heroes of this universe are the pilots. Our mechs are the hero mechs.

Legendary warriors who have evaded capture for 6 months. I mean can you imagine the types of opportunity PGI could have with this in that regard? Comstar intercepts of the top 10 bounties, the galaxy's "Most Wanted" and such.

Another idea to go along with us, asw players, being the heroes of the galaxy, allow us to pay an MC fee to make 1 personal mech of ours our personal "hero" mech

just as a sidenote, is there any way for players to actually play out their own bounty scenarios? If we have access to unit coffers in Phase 3 that could be a way to exchange monies between players possibly

As nice as that would be, I fear it being relegated to CW status as a feature.

I.e.

"Eh, It's available if I have this massive unit with funding, but I really cannot be bothered to join up and actively socialize with these random strangers just to play a certain game mode that takes a while to find an opponent anyway."

Hence, having it bypass any player required input.

There's nothing stopping us from having each solo drop have a bounty, and allowing a CW placeable bounty except UI, of course.

Not sure honestly. I think an escrow, giving the wanted player a chance to earn part of the pool, and having those who want to participate pay a % of the bounty would solve or at least heavily mitigate most of the issues that would pop up from it.

I would love to see bounties. I would also love to see a Zellbrigen option for certain game modes. The way I imagine it working is you could click on another player's name in the list, then click "Offer Zellbrigen" they would get a message with your offer including your name and the mech you are piloting. If they decline, match proceeds as normal. If they accept then they are the only enemy that can hurt you and you are the only enemy that can hurt them. Once one of you is dead the winner can be damaged by anyone.

You could automate this system for CW. Do well and you start accumulating a bounty. Keep doing well and your bounty goes up to a certain point. Players with bounties would get little icons next to their name that indicate their worth. The rewards would be nice, but not out of control. Perhaps increments of 5,000 cbills with 5 bounty tiers.

The real question is who gets the reward? Killshot? Kill Most Damage Dealt? Solo Kill? Assists? Or do we do some sort of cumulative thing like who dealt the most damage to this bounty over the course of the entire game?

I would say whoever gets the actual kill shot. You could possibly do it based on damage dealt as well and split the bounty up between the players who participated in the collection of the bounty. So if you did 10% of the mech's health, you get 10% of the bounty?

I think that sounds like the best option, as it would reduce the amount of salt from people going on and on about doing the most of the damage and someone swooping in for the kill at the last second.

I mean I don't mind the salt mine that is MWO, but it does get out of hand some times.

Yeah, the salt would be great... too great like in those events PGI held where people had to get the kill or Most Damage dealt sort of stuff.

And the salt mines? Well, some are odd, and others, justified, and some just plain dumb.

Well I'm just thinking as to how real world bounties used to work in the "wild west". Bounty hunters would often split the bounty with others who helped them, it didn't matter who shot the bad guy.

There's salt, then there's cynical salt. The cynical salt is extra salty because it's filtered through tear ducts :P

To the rest of you, are you still interested in this as a feature?

This very feature should not be implemented in a s**t manner. This will change the game, and if done correctly, according to lore/canon, can seriously improve the game. I do not want a rushed s**t integration. I want something done properly.

People in the forums tend to grasp on to certain ideas from the battletech universe and pick/choose here and there like wild animals and leave the rest of the franchise from the RPG on the floor like a carcass.

A 'Bounty' transforms a player into a 'Bounty Hunter', which is a non-factioned body in the battletech universe. That being said, if Bounties were implemented, a Bounty Hunter Role should be implemented as well..and if a Bounty Hunter role was implemented then a Pirate Role should be implemented as well as they both existed.

This, of all things, should be implemented alongside MANY other new game-changing elements reflecting the RPG.

Here's my proposed community suggestion I have been toiling over for a long time (many years) and debating whether it should be posted: http://mwomercs.com/...implementation/

For me this idea ranks somewhere around 150th of what this game needs.

No problem. Your thread encouraged/reminded me to create an old thread I bodged together years ago on my spare time that I have had intent on posting and never got around to do. Thanks for the reminder.

That actually makes me happy. If it can help stimulate discussion and ideas in the community then that's a great thing IMHO

I actually thought about this a while back, as the Clan warriors didn't really use c-bills, I thought about an honour system, where it rewarded solo kills, but punished you for joining in on a kill. It got sticky around what happens to the second person to go for the kill if the first one died.... Also I had it rewarding a weight difference, meaning if a Dire Wolf killed a Timby, he got less of a reward than an Arctic Cheetah did for killing a Timby.

On the flip side IS got bigger rewards for working as a team.
