Is either Hero worth it?
I love the PHX-R paintwork, but why would I get it over an (S) model? What does it offer that the (S) can't do?

I like it just for the ability to put 2 SRM6 with Artemis with some lasers.

The 1, the 1B, and the 3S are all pretty starved for useful hardpoints

The 1B isn't really starved for hardpoints, 3 LL or 3 LPL asym are possible, but whether it will be better at either than the BJ-3 is up for debate once quirks get announced for it.

The 1 and 3S are the biggest losers though, that is for sure, though the 1 is an upgraded VND-1X and the 3S trades a hardpoint for an extra worthless AMS.

Maybe I'm being hyperbolic, but seeing a 45 tonner with a better engine cap, similar profile, and better hardpoints and a decent amount of flexibility and toys to play with than the forever sad Vindi makes me just disappointed.

Well, to be fair, the Pixhawk always took a giant dump on the Vindicator in the lore, too.

Seriously, the hardpoint inflation/power creep is making my Vindis super sad Posted Image

What hard point inflation ? PHX's H.P's are canon from what I've seen on sarna the engine cap is somewhat larger, but both are going to be capable of doing 150% of their Canon speeds

True the Vindicator is going to struggle, but the Black Jack, is already everyone's go to mech, for anything serious like C.W
and I strongly doubt the PHX will cause the Vindi to be used any less than it is now.

More likely they'll cause less Black Jacks to be seen, depending on how much an advantage people perceive ECM or Masc to be over the Bj's quirks and weapon load

Question on the early adopter. If I buy the base 20$ pack and wait till after release to get any heroes or the reinforcements, will I still get the pre order bonus? I'd rather do that and wait on quirks to see If the heroes will be decent and wait on reinforcements till i see tonnage space after fiddling around with engines.

About to go and read the thread , I'm positive on the official thread there will be much whining and entitled bitching about optional prices , but please tell me I won't be disappointed and there's already someone in this one whining about optional hero purchases.

The Vindicator given it's lack of speed and hardpoints should have been the one getting the BJ's old structure buffs. The "Badger" is definitely the most durable of the three stock, too.

I've always gotten a good laugh at the people whining and crying about fifteen USD for an optional hero, considering all or most of these heroes would cost more to buy for MC.

The 1K has 8E when the stock variant only has 4 weapons, and the 2 has 6 when it only had 3. Not saying it shouldn't have gotten inflated, just sad it got more than the Vindi.

That's because they aren't used, hard to go below 0 :P.

Supposed adults whining about purely optional purchases that other people can buy if they wish , but in no way effects them if they don't want to make said OPTIONAL purchases has always amused and confused me.

And Good Lord the early adopter awards of Cbills and modules makes the basic packs beyond a good deal , the CE one also.

Like you, I've almost knocked out my hit list of Unseen... just need the Stinger, Wasp and Crusader now...

Warhammer
Riflemen
Phoenix Hawk
Crusader
Wasp
Stinger

Don't forget the Longbow and Valkyrie.

With the new mechs coming out, you can change the paintjob even on the Hero mechs. First thing I did with my LK was to swap out it's hideous paint for some Sherman camo.

And that paint job. Magnificent. I'm a little put off by having arm-only weaponry, but that Roc.... yaaaaarrr.

Never really like the Valkyrie, Archer, Marauder, Marauder II or Longbow, so they are not on my hit list.

LOL $15 dollars for 45 ton hero mechs with average to bad hardpoints. No savings for the ultimate pack. Well nothing about this looks good. I will wait for c bill release!

MW:O has always been minimally more than PGI milking the nostalgia cash cow, the PHawk isn't the first example, and won't be the last.

Out of all the unseen releases the Kodiak offered the best value for money while the Phoenix hawk offers the least.
Seriously if every pack was $5 less it would be exactly on point pricing wise.($15 standard, $10 hero's, $10 reenforcement, $35 collector, total together $65) the price would be hard to pass on.

However when it offers the same rewards, same amount of mechs for the same cost as mechs 2x the weight and some 3x the in game cost it's hard to see the value in comparison to what they've been releasing.

To me it seems like pgi is really banking on nostalgia to bring in the cash.
