Plus it drives Harmony Gold up the walls. That's the biggest draw.

Nope. I mean...no more than a Marauder does, or a Warhammer.
Or Archer will, or the Riflemen does....

You must be either trolling, or started after the whole unseen issue.... As Macross mechs were some of the most popular mechs in TRO 3025, I think that was the first TRO....

You must not have run into as much as I have, this is par for the course for him. Only reason I even looked at this thread was to see what he said, and it lived down to my expectations. <grin>

-1 when everyone realizes the 45 tonners lack firepower
+1 for omgbbq engine cap
Not really interested unless they release what it will actually look like vs Alex's concept art.

Nope, Most of us played CBT and/or read the novels. Yes, it looks like something out of Robotech/Macross... because that's where FASA.. Um... Borrowed the idea from. Its one of the more iconic IS mechs from books and earlier games like Crescent Hawks Inception/Revenge (Pretty sure Jason Youngblood used a Phoenix Hawk in second game, Chameleon in the first-Commodore 64/Amiga).
I'm quite satisfied with the new look.. Easily recognizable as a Phoenix Hawk with PGI's twist, which have yet to disappoint me, Though I do miss the gigantic arm cannon the Thunderbolt originally had on its right arm to represent the Lord's Light Large Laser, but I suppose PGI removed it to minimize people singling it out in combat.

Correct. Matter of fact the vast majority of early mech designs were not created by Fasa.
With the lion's share of those coming from Macross (aka Robotech), and a few other animes as well.
Point and case, the 2nd edition box set of Battletech pictured 8 different mechs. Of the 8, all of them came from anime designs "licensed" by FASA. Of the 8, only one of them was NOT from Macross (the Locust).

Nostalgia, sure, for those of us who suffer from that. That's totally my motivation.
But powercreep? Really? Have you looked at it's hardpoints/locations? The only reason it has any place at all in the try-hard medium lineup is ECM and/or MASC.
But that MASC version? Jebus. Just how fast is it going to go? around 160 kph before MASC??
Even so, that's sporting 3E 2B, with 5.5t payload space. That's just not an intimidating loadout.

as well as being 10 tons lighter then OTHER mechs that call themselves mediums.
aside from potentially having better hit boxes then the bj i dont think its gonna be better.

Speed will help, but it's going to be a lot more situational and pilot specific. Probably few Upper Tier uses, but should be a fun chassis for guys like me.
