Seriously! WTF? Last 3 nights I have played all I see are Wub Knights that core/kill me in one alpha. Turn the corner, Black Knight cores my CT before I even get a shot off. Died 3 matches in row to a Black Knight with less than 100 damage to my score. Hung my head in shame, kicked the dogs chew toy across the room and logged off.

My new MWO tactic... DON'T LOOK AT IT!

Well that's what happens when PGI releases a heavy mech with 8-9 energy hardpoints. 3 LPL and the rest MPL, there's just no reason to do anything different - well other than a huge engine and all MPL/DHS that is.

58 (3 LPL/5 ML) point alpha in less than a second. It is pretty terrifying, but it is heat capped easily and sort of limited in range.

And people still moan about the Timberwolf.

Ya PGI wants variety in the game and they launch all energy-hardpoint mechs ... that'll do it.

Keep torso twisting, that BK gets heat capped really quick, get in there and kill it before it can cool down and its dead.

Maybe because the 5smpls 4x SRM6 Timber or 4smpls 4x SRM6 & flamer Timber can kill the OPs BK one on one. The new Timber meta is here. Long live the old king still.

Had a good fight yesterday in my wub Nova vs a wub Black Knight. Both of us were afraid to look at each other!

The Black Knight, and to a lesser extent the Grasshopper, are still quite strong despite the IS laser range nerf.

You should engage them with caution.

Lasers always have been 'the standard' weapon in Battletech. Cheap, easy to maintain and not depending on ammo.

You see, the problem is, you can't stop it from closing in on you.

350/360XL depending on whether it has 5 or 3MLs. A gigantic shield arm and 50% structure quirks. Also if you settle for 3MLs, it has well over 40% heateff, capable of putting out 150+ dmg in a matter of seconds before shutting down. Quite a stretch from "easy to overheat" in my book. People are slowly finding out what I've been preaching for the past month or so.

This. Thing. Is. Nuts.

Enjoy it while it lasts, it will get the BJ treatment.

If you settle for only 3 MLs, you aren't capitalizing on opportunities as much, at that point you are better off with a different mech. The whole reason to run the BK with 3 LPL/5 ML is the same reason people used to run the Meta Whale, to punish players mistakes with a big alpha straight to one component. As for it pushing, well, it is good at pushing that is for sure, but it isn't good at brawling or trading at range. That said the dominant range in PUGs and even in comp play seems to revolve around mid range currently, outside of a select few maps.

Lpl needs a nerf go bring the dph down closer to the other lasers.

No.

At most you can make a case for reducing the laser quirks on some mechs, but when it comes to weakening the base weapon itself then we're gonna have a bad time.

Without also touching the cLPL, at any rate.

They're both among the best lasers in the game, which is fine. Some quirks can make them excessive...but those were also touched down last pass.

Tried both, prefer the 3MLs with the 360XL. You wanna lose your RA first anyhow, might as well go with +1 DHS and the higher engine.

I prefer my G'Hoppa over my BlekKnight. Better hardpoint placement.
