They're still finalizing the quirks a few days before the patch goes live? That's surprising. There's only 1 working day left before its released.

rather see less weapon quirks, more defensive. And if Offense gets addressed, prefer pattern tighened

See...I'd prefer the exact opposite. I can use my piloting skills for defense. I cannot do anything to make my IS weapons work as well as clan weapons.

So for me the biggest thing is cooldown reductions so I can fire faster because I need to kill before they get within 180m on LRM's, and faster SRM's are always welcome. I'd want less heat because again, that translates into more DPS. Velocity is meaningless on LRM's, but useful on SRM's. And tighter grouping would be okay, but really, the grouping on LRM's needs tweaked overall, not just as a quirk for one or two mechs.

That's usually "Poli-Speak" for "Dang it, we got yelled at, let's make changes before we get any more pack cancellations!!"

Speaking of. Where are the patch notes and did PGI forget about the Command Console buffs?

So if you have piloting skill keep your foes at your effective range. It is called kiting.

And they 5W does have velocity quirks. Up to 9 x LRM5 in two groups on chain-fire with the recent LRM changes and a cooldown module!? Lolz.

On Tina Benoit's devdrop live stream, Paul just addressed the Archer quirks, and as the title say, stated they were posted before being finalized, and are now going through revision and possible changes.

English Lesson 101 (for free)
"Decreasing" cooldown would imply it got SHORTER. It got longer. You're welcome.

I stand corrected. Touche'.

JUST give it general missile quirks and crap ton of CT/ST like the Warhammer.

No one wants LRM focused quirks or no armour.

Exactly.
Those were the final quirks, or they wouldn't have shown them off.

Basically - Paul "leaked" them so he could get some indication of how far off his dart board was.

Like what they did on the latest missile fixes for all launchers. Making the spread tighter and decreasing cooldown significantly on the big tubes.

Yeah, they better take care of that.

Um, Ted?

They -increased- cooldown and decreased spread to the point that still, nobody in their right mind uses LRM 20's other than desperation.

Actually quite a few people do want LRM quirks, because some are tired of seeing every missile mech just turned into a Splat Build.

Go figure.

I'd like to see LRM quirks, because it's an Archer, but I get that people want to make it a splatmaster.

Something like:

Missile Velocity 20%
Missile Heat Gen - 10%
LRM20 Spread -33%

Would make me happy.

Originally, I was expecting strongish LRM quirks on the -2R, a mixed generic missile bag on the -5R and -5S, and a slightly weaker -2R style set on the Tempest.

Energy quirks? Wut?

Splat mechs arent even that popular or OP, laser and ac boats are more reliable. General missile quirks will mean you aren't shoehorned into any given missile and gives players the much needed ability to choose.

It's better to have a versatile mech, than a one trick pony.

Actually, it's better that mechs do what they weren't designed and meant to do, and if you want to do something else, you choose the appropriate chassis for it.

Making all mechs into vanilla jack of all meta trades just really makes creating "new" mechs totally pointless, in general.

So, the Desktop Wallpapers depict an ARC-2R(S) with the wrong loadout.
The quirk preview depicts the same incorrect loadout.
The Archer post they may after the patch notes carries both errors, uncorrected, after PGI was made aware.
Now Paul is saying that the quirks we are seeing weren't supposed to be released yet.

...

What's going on?

They buff the primaries of weapon systems they think are weak (ballistics which includes PPC) and buff secondary weapons for mechs with primary weapons that are strong (lazers and believe it or not missiles).

Serious folks, you really do not know what havok you are literally bringing down on your head. Making the missile systems on these mechs more powerful is really not something you want.

But please push PGI to do so. Your future missile overlords thank you.

Say what you will, I'd sooner they do this that just use Paul's Dartboard Of Balance and then act surprised at release, as per normal.

Wait Paul's revising the quirks!

Oh noes it's going to have -% cooldown nerfs instead of buffs!
