Assuming such armor was designed with the ability to be squeezed that much. Metal armor is more like a turtle shell not like modern day Kevlar... which in that case would be flexible and not crack your rib cage like a walnut.
Your sentence is a little confusing. Are you saying Metal armour is flexible unlike modern kevlar armour? Shouldn't that be the other way around?

Some reading for thought: http://www.tor.com/2...would-kill-you/

On a more serious note... difficult to acquire.

Might be a bit better if they took the jumpsuits from the Air Force and modeled them to look futuristic.

The soft Kevlar armor worn by regular beat cops and security guards might be flexible, but the armor plates soldiers use certainly isn't. Even then, Kevlar does a bang up job of hiding a female soldier's womanly charms.

See? She's completely indistinguishable from a man from the neck down. I don't think she's even wearing plates in that vest.

I do not care if male or female, just give me combat boots; shorts; and a cooling vest!

Wait, what? I thought it was required for every woman in a video game military to get implants and wear tank tops?

You know, for that totally legit combat advantage.

Lets be honest here ... a mech pilot should be mostly naked ... which means no armor.

Of course. Bare skin reacts wonderfully to hot metal surfaces, you know.

I have a question. Is there a Battletech story with a Clan pilot wearing armor in the cockpit? I have not read them all...just asking.

No, they shouldn't be. That's just a snippet from BT lore, and in fact it's one of the worst lore snippets of the bunch. It might technically be canon, but it's absolutely stupid on multiple levels.

This is another one of those cases where the lore should be completely ignored, and the pilots should be wearing actual cooling suits instead of trying to fulfill the fantasies of teenage boys.

Can confirm, was the No.1 Man on a Paladin. The metallic surfaces in a war machine get hot. Even in a full uniform.

There are many things that are crazy in Battletech lore. We are playing a game, and fantasizing about a fictional timeline. This is not REAL.

Both men and women can want a sexy female model for the same reason both men and women can want a sexy looking male model. This happens in any/all games. There are plenty of women who want a sexy female avatar when they play a game the same as there are plenty of guys who want a studly male avatar to play.

Which is all utterly and completely irrelevant.

Minimal difference, cooling suit. Fan service in a game like this would be so shallow it would make me embarrassed for the human race. You wouldn't even see it if you're not intentionally looking around the cockpit to look at yourself. It's stupid we're even having the conversation.

It doesn't matter how realistic or unrealistic we want the game to be, nearly-naked pilots are still stupid.

You have pretty much the rest of the entire internet if you want to see that...

I started playing MechWarrior because I bought a used book. I read a few and have this drama playing in my head. I know that it is not realistic. That is the point, It is fantasy. In my pea brain, lore is what makes the drama so special. Not trying to start a fight. <S>

Also one for those of us who self-identify as Carrots.

No justice no peace or something.

I identify sexually as an urbanmech. People told me I couldn't get an AC/10 and small laser grafted onto my body, because of physics; BUT WHAT DO THEY KNOW?!?!

Aren't the mechwarrios supposed to be half-naked in the cockpit anyway, in the lore?

Not asking for a female model mind you. But will pay MC for hairy legs + dirty underwear skin.

Pay me some MC and I'll show you some hairy legs and dirty underwear
